Boycott College GameDay when it comes to AA, Go to Big Noon
In the highly likely event that College GameDay comes to Ann Arbor in 2 weeks, there should be a complete and total boycott from Michigan fans. This is not an original idea of mine, I am borrowing it from a Reddit user zygomanis. This is based on how ESPN has handled "signgate" as they have dubbed it. Also, the sheer fact of the complete garbage Steven A Smith, Paul Finebaum, and Pete Thamel have been spewing. Hell, the only discussion on College Football Final about the game was the panel making fun of Sherrone Moore. I would love to see a barren field at Pioneer where they generally set up, but instead, everybody going to Big Noon. Let's make it a big spectacle. I am posting this now because it generally takes some time for momentum to build on ideas like these and to spread the word. FUCK ESPN!

No, give them a spot at the Briarwood Mall.

I think Michigan should just hire away Des, Charles, Brady, Butt, Gardner, and maybe even RGIII (only until Orji graduates) and add them to our MGoTV network as an independent. With so many colour guys, bring in a Klatt-like play-by-play type. We can pay them each millions per year to call every game (alumni can pay and have first choice for advertising). Let's Go homer announcing.
Phase 2, free streaming on YouTube or Apple TV. America's team free for all. Reduce the commercials but place ads on the screen and change the game. Pay the players from the TV rights because who cares anymore!

There’s no way they go to AA. It will be bad for them. As it should be.
November 13th, 2023 at 11:41 AM ^
They will absolutely be there. They've been talking about Michigan for the last 4 weeks. You don't think they'll post up there and double down on their stance? At a top 5 matchup.
November 13th, 2023 at 12:02 PM ^
If not AA, where? It’s close to an elimination game for the CFP. Maybe if Oregon-Oregon St wasn’t on Friday night, that would have been plausible, but UM-OSU is the biggest game of this season. No question they’re in AA.
November 13th, 2023 at 12:26 PM ^
Can't we refuse them access? We already denied their ticket request.
November 13th, 2023 at 12:45 PM ^
Did we deny their ticket request?
If so, awesome.
November 13th, 2023 at 1:29 PM ^
I'm with you on this one--play the "public safety" card, have the University deny access to campus, and have the city of Ann Arbor deny them a permit to post up anywhere in the city limits.
November 13th, 2023 at 2:36 PM ^
I'm serious. Briarwood Mall.
November 13th, 2023 at 8:59 PM ^
A shopping mall would be so thematically appropriate for ESPN.

"Sorry guys, since we know what you're going to be talking about the whole time it poses a risk to player and crowd safety. Somebody needs to think of the children but not in the Penn State way."

Maybe they can go to happy valley for their big rivalry game against msu. That will get the kittens pounding their chests again as they chant "WE ARE".
Edit: Sorry, I forgot its at ford field. They can set up camp right up the road either way.
November 13th, 2023 at 8:35 PM ^
There is nothing else that’s compelling.
Hey, go to Atlanta for Georgia vs Georgia Tech. That will be interesting….

It would be like how the crowd at woodstock chased MTV out of there.
November 14th, 2023 at 12:23 PM ^
Prices for that spot have just tripled, sorry ESPN, here is your new bill to setup
November 13th, 2023 at 11:36 AM ^
I'm not going to attend either one, but if I were I would probably go to Gameday anyway with a sign. It would be a sign with no words, just pictures, as if I were an analyst on the sidelines signalling in a play. The sign would express my feelings toward ESPN in pictoral form.
And it would undoubtedly get me kicked out of there.
November 13th, 2023 at 12:02 PM ^
Don't go. Your sign won't be allowed.
November 13th, 2023 at 11:36 AM ^
Do they need to get a permit to set up? I wouldn't let them at Pioneer, the stadium, the Diag....any large public locations. This is the biggest game of the year.....and ESPN should be shut out. Fox can get an "exclusive" on this.
November 13th, 2023 at 11:49 AM ^
Big Noon has always for my memory been at Pioneer. The last Gameday I attended was 2015 vs MSU and that was in the Diag.
I only know that about Big Noon because I've flipped off Urban at least 3x at Pioneer.
November 13th, 2023 at 1:27 PM ^
BIG Noon was off of E . Keech behind the Big House in 2019 … was there yelling for Charles to tell cryer to fuck off !!!

Let them setup on the property of the Nacht law firm...

As a Huron alum, I don't want those yak sphincters besmirching our campus either.
Sorry Skyline High, you're gonna have to take one for the team here.
November 13th, 2023 at 8:47 PM ^
In ‘21, Game Day set up at Pioneer. To my knowledge - the university doesn’t have any influence over Pioneer.
However, I have seen a lot of safety issues - an$ traffic - on / near Michigan’s campus. So, the University could offer areas which afford a bit more security. North Campus as others suggested - is a good choice. And, the Track Facility - at the south end of the Athletic Campus - off of State Street - could be ideal.
Maybe.. very creative signs.. and chants / cheers. My thought would be to represent and reflect the university despite ESPN - this would mean a bit less profanity. The Children of The Yost are a great source of creativity.

Fuck Stephen a smith. He’s a piece of shit dick faced cunt. ESPN can suck a fat one too. Those fuckers are really gonna talk banning from cfp into existence just like they did Harbaugh. Fucks
November 13th, 2023 at 2:45 PM ^
How do you really feel?
November 13th, 2023 at 11:40 AM ^
My money says they don’t show. Literally everyone except Desmond will get booed into oblivion. The signs that people bring will be probably be, shall we say, opinionated about ESPN. There will be no shortage of obscenities thrown their way, particularly when Pat and Rece open their mouths. And then all hell will break loose when Pete Thamel comes in for a segment.
They’ll back out and go to the Iron Bowl, the Apple Cup, or some less consequential game. They can’t risk showing up to Ann Arbor and have their programming called into question when people tune in and wonder why their commentators are getting booed for three straight hours.
It’ll be bad optics for them to show up.
Only thing I'll say is that if Gameday does show up, don't boycott it. Go and make your feelings known, but also, if Michigan boycotts Gameday, the set will just be flooded with OSU fans, and just not a good look.
I would flood their set and let them know what you think. Don't do anything that'll get you arrested, of course, but I'm okay with Kirk, Rece, and Pat walking off that set at noon EST and telling themselves "That was the most uncomfortable set we've done, maybe ever."
November 13th, 2023 at 12:27 PM ^
This brings up a good point; we don't want just a sea of red behind them. Then the only one that will be boo'd will be Desmond. All osu fans cheering for Thamel is probably exactly what ESPN hopes will happen.
November 13th, 2023 at 12:43 PM ^
Screw Pat, Rece, and Pete. Pat just plays to the crowd and is a loud mouth puppet who sold his soul to go on espn. His whole schtick is to get the crowd cheering and chanting.
November 13th, 2023 at 11:42 AM ^
Don't let espn set up on campus!
November 13th, 2023 at 2:41 PM ^
Only let them know friday night before the game.
November 13th, 2023 at 11:42 AM ^
Others have said this as well, but you don't want us to all boycott and have only OSU fans. Better idea is to show up and just boo relentlessly. Cheer Desmond. But make it so you can't hear any of the rest.
November 13th, 2023 at 11:56 AM ^
Agree on the first part. If UM fans don't show up, it will be mostly osu fans which would be a TERRIBLE look for us.
November 13th, 2023 at 11:43 AM ^
I dont think they will come but if they want to, the school and city should just say no.
Tell them Desmond can come with a camera and do the show from the 50 yard line. No one else is welcome.
November 13th, 2023 at 11:43 AM ^
If you go to college gameday you're supporting ESPN. I don't care if you are planning on going with a sign or chanting something. They're not going to show your sign and they're going to mute what you're chanting. All people are going to see is bodies behind them. Don't give them that satisfaction!
November 13th, 2023 at 12:07 PM ^
This. Let the OSU fans show up, because they won't when the only permit for the set is a Walmart parking lot Wyandotte.
Seriously - put them so far away from anything related to the game that nobody will have a chance to show up.

Yeah, let it be the OSU pregame show. That is what it is going to be anyway.
November 13th, 2023 at 12:47 PM ^
Let them have their show at 9:00am because they aren't going to like the show at noon.
November 13th, 2023 at 11:49 AM ^
This tactic will not work. You are forgetting that there will be a lot of OSU fans in A2 that day. If not Michigan fans show up to Gameday, it will not be a good look to just have OSU dominating that scene. Better for us to have a good presence there and bring a good sign game.
November 13th, 2023 at 12:49 PM ^
Who cares. Let them stand behind those clowns and explain why there are no Michigan fans behind them. They can have 5,000 suckeyes behind them and it wont matter once the game starts. Its going to be the Michigan show at 12:00.
November 13th, 2023 at 11:51 AM ^
If michigan fans don't show up, it's gonna be full of osu fans, and I'm not sure how I feel about that...
November 13th, 2023 at 6:03 PM ^
Who gives a shit? Sends a solid message that Michigan fans don't give a shit about ESPN. Turn on big noon and you'll see Michigan fans everywhere.
November 13th, 2023 at 11:52 AM ^
Honest question. Would it be OK with several people to stand by the entrance to GameDay and tell people not to enter? Because you know there will be some people who are not entirely in the know who would go to GameDay.
November 13th, 2023 at 11:57 AM ^
Why not boycott both? Fox is basically the official network of the Big 10.
November 13th, 2023 at 11:57 AM ^
Whoa Nellie
November 13th, 2023 at 12:00 PM ^
If you’re serious about this, you should have people with signs directing people to where you want them to go. However, one downside is it will all be OSU fans left which also looks weird.
November 13th, 2023 at 12:12 PM ^
Yeah, a boycott just means there will be more Buckeye fans and fewer of the more passionate Michigan fans.
November 13th, 2023 at 6:04 PM ^
Do you really think people viewing are going to think oh they just must be a whole bunch of Ohio State fans there and no Michigan fans. No it sends the message that Michigan says fuck ESPN. Turn on big noon and you see a sea of Michigan fans.
