Re: not betting on his team to lose, you make a good point...  I will subscribe to your newsletter, until such time as I no longer wish to pay your fees.

I was in Tiger Stadium…

I was in Tiger Stadium watching the day he blew his shoulder out in the 1st inning.  The first couple of pitches were good.  Then, after throwing one, he jumped up and walked a circle around the mound stretching his arm.  The next couple of pitches were wide and had no pop.  He was replaced in short order by Jim Coleman (pretty sure that's the name), a middle reliver of no particular acclaim.  Coleman proceeded to throw a 9-inning gem that won the game.  I believe they were playing Cleveland, but don't quote me on that one.

The atmosphere before the game was electric - unlike anything I had ever witnessed in my young life at the time.  Still not sure I've witnessed it since...  When Bird left the game, there was a noticeable pall of sadness in the air.  But as the game went on, and Coleman kept mowing down batters, the excitement steadily built.  When the game ended, Coleman had to make a curtain call to end the chants of his name by ~52,000 people.  Nobody left early...  What a memory!

So MLB's investigation is…

So MLB's investigation is already done?  Makes sense...

At least Pete never bet on…

At least Pete never bet on his team to lose...

I get the point - protect…

I get the point - protect your path to the playoff, because the conference schedule will get you in.  But this is a pussy's view of the world.  I didn't like it the last couple of years, I won't like it going forward.  Howevs...  Having Texas and Oklahoma on the next two schedules is not like planning 3 (or 4) total cupcakes (aka - PSU and OSU's '24 path, among others).

I will say that Alabama schedule's nicely out of conference, save for the 4th cupcake before Auburn.

Queue up the Georgia fan…

Queue up the Georgia fan sites complaints and bitches that he wasn't that good anyway, and was only a hindrance to the real recruiters on the staff.

What a stoopid question that…

What a stoopid question that would be.  Warde should have absolutely no regrets about hiring Howard whatsoever.  He was one of the best candidates available at the time, and a Michigan legend to boot.  All hires are nothing more than an educated guess hoping that it works out.  Not all of them do - unfortunately, Juwan was one of those that did not work out.  That doesn't mean you regret ever taking that chance.  It means you go out, find the next best educated guess, and take another chance.

Harbaugh was clearly the…

Harbaugh was clearly the driver of the football program.  If you think Warde's inactive lack of support drove football to heights unseen, good for you.

BTW, I have no idea what your complaint is against what I posted.  I complemented his running of the business side, and offered a clear list of what I didn't like about him.  And, since this is a fan site, why do we need objective measurements to explain our likes/dislikes?  I mean, nobody said that you had to like what I said!

Speaking of lazy shitposts,…

Speaking of lazy shitposts, you must be looking in a mirror this morning...  Take a look at all of the one-liners you're popping out in here - they are the very definition of 'shit post'.  All you're doing is shitting on everyone's opinion without offering your own, let alone offering a counter to whatever opinion you apparently don't like.

You're not usually this angry, what pissed you off?  Is Warde a friend, or family member?  I mean, give us some reason you're shitting on us like some high and mighty bitch.  Why so high and mighty?

I do not, please enlighten…

I do not, please enlighten me...

Run the business side, hire…

Run the business side, hire coaches and let them coach, glad-hand doners, and support coaches/players/teams when they need public support.  He does most of that well enough, but he fails miserably at the 'support' aspects - especially for football where/when Harbaugh was involved.

So what don't I understand from your perspective?

Good morning, Warde.  You…

Good morning, Warde.  You seem angry today, perhaps you should lay off the coffee and get a nap in?

Lincoln Riley quarterbacks…

Lincoln Riley quarterbacks that largely suck in the NFL.

We must have been watching…

We must have been watching different Drake Maye's because I can't see a higher ceiling from the Maye I watched.  In fact, I can't even see as high a floor from the Maye I watched.  In fact, I can't see the Maye I watched winning 13 games in 2023 as Michigan's QB, let alone all 15.  The Maye I watched would have lost the PSU and OSU games, and probably the Maryland game, as well.  Forget the playoff - wouldn't have been in it.

For the life of me, I can't see why Maye has been included in the top group of QB's for two years.  I just don't see it.

So he's better than Dave…

So he's better than Dave Brandon and Tom Goss.  That isn't illustrious company...

'Man critiques self and…

'Man critiques self and finds no fault, blames others for their perception' - story at 11...

Seriously?  Yeah, he handled the Juwan release (can't bring myself to 'fire' Michigan Legit Legend Juwan Howard) and the May hiring quite well.  I will not fault him for the Juwan hire - that was a good decision that just didn't work out.  And I've said that elsewhere, also...  But there are so many other issues with him as AD that I cannot support...

As I've said a hundred times, the guy is a competent administrator of a ~$150M business venture with people, publicity, and building/real estate infrastructure.  But the way he's handled football since his hiring is atrocious.  Everything is passive - he lets the conference walk all over them.  He punished Harbaugh early on for defending his program publicly.  He suspended Harbaugh for cheeseburgers before the NCAA even tried to - and still that 'investigation' is ongoing.  Aside from a tweet clearly edited by lawyers, he all but refused to defend the program during SignGate.  He fired an assistant coach for what?  Talking to players?  He basically did everything he could to sabotage the program's NC run, without outright sabotaging the run.  And he essentially faked trying to keep Harbaugh.

Whatever.  He can run the business side of it, but he sucks at everything else.  He is not a leader in the clubhouse with peers.  The B1G should have covered our back with Signgate, but instead led the charge to condemn Michigan without evidence - indeed, against all evidence.  If Warde were an actual leader in a room with peers, that would never happen.

I agree OldTimer, on all…

I agree OldTimer, on all points.  I don't trust Williams because Lincoln Riley.  His offenses rely on athleticism that defenses don't have to make big plays.  Driving the field doesn't happen, and big plays stop against good defenses.  Check Riley's playoff stats...

Drake Maye...  I've never understood the hype around him - watched him at NC a few times, and he strikes me as an average mid-level QB on an average team.  He didn't lift his team beyond what they were.  His accuracy is what I'd expect from an average QB on an average team.  I think he gets love because NC is normally a bottom feeding football team and he QB'd a Mack Brown team to almost Mack Brown Texas results...  Seems like someone the Giants would rave about and grab at #1.

I feel like Daniels is kinda similar to Williams, but with a higher ceiling because more trust.  His fancy stats were at, or better, than JJ's through the season, where both Penix and Williams were behind.  But he does rely on getting outside the pocket a little too much for the health and safety of an NFL QB.

You do know that Jesse was…

You do know that Jesse was part of OSU's team that day, right?

My answer to your NFL…

My answer to your NFL question: JJ will be the best QB taken in this years draft when the various careers have ended.

I do not view this as a question worthy of debate.

This is the magic of the…

This is the magic of the Lincoln Riley offense.  What happened to USC this year is what happens to Riley teams across the trails of history.  Just watch his Oklahoma teams - put them up against a playoff team in the playoffs and they promptly pooped their pants.

Knowing that nutjob, he's…

Knowing that nutjob, he's probably in the parking lot of the Venice Beach Walmart.

Poor Jenny...  She never got more than three words out of him.  He made it a big joke to avoid her at all costs!  I swear he game planned all week with staff about how to avoid her.

Sweet...  Now Dusty has me…

Sweet...  Now Dusty has me running point, MGrowOld in the low post, MeanJoe the Koala at power forward, and Wendy at wing.  We just need a shooting guard now...

Didn't know he went to the…

Didn't know he went to the women's game Saturday - that is class.  As for his professors...  Well, he finished his degree on airplanes while playing in the NBA.  So yeah, the dude was serious about playing school.  And like I said the day he was released, he had better never have to pay for his own beer in Ann Arbor.

NFL apple carts don't care…

NFL apple carts don't care so much about regional biases, 'tradition', and maintaining monopolies on recruiting grounds.  And nobody cares about Stanford football.  I mean, even when they were New Years Bowl Game good, they were still a feel-good story rather than a legit contender.

Same...  Same...  And for…

Same...  Same...  And for those who were mad at him for flirting with the NFL, and then outright angry that he took another job - these quotes make up for it.  Especially the 3rd base dagger he shived OSU with.  So beautiful, and so typically Jim MF' Harbaugh.

As far as antagonistic quotes go, that one was a gun to the back of the head with no warning.  The Goodfella's would be proud...

So Warde gave up Sanderson…

So Warde gave up Sanderson in the name of 'continuity' until the season was over, and then jettisoned Juwan, also.  So he lost both of them.

Fire Warde again?

If one considers MSU as a bball 'blue blood', then Louisville is a shoe-in.  They've been damn good for a looooong time...

Hmmm...  Seems vaguely familiar...

I will admit that I didn't…

I will admit that I didn't expect all the gnashing of teeth from opposing fan bases over this hire.  But it's wonderful to see them lamenting their basketball loss because Michigan is a football school.

I've knocked Warde a thousand times on this site, but today he earns praise for a good coaching hire that should settle Crisler Arena and get the bball program back on the track that Beilein left it on.

Hire Warde?

Perfect encapsulation, it's…

Perfect encapsulation, it's exactly what I got from reading the first 10-20 posts in each thread (except the O-Zone, that thing was, uhh...).  LMAO!!!  So much pressure that May can't handle at UL.  The IU fans will be sad drunk for the next several weeks...

Huh...  I forgot he was on…

Huh...  I forgot he was on the team, or thought he transferred.  I'm not sure which...  Either way, I'm not sure it changes the playing time calculations.

Prospect Hill still has a…

Prospect Hill still has a good amount of the actual stone wall they built as a defensive position, and the view from the top of the hill down to the river is fantastic.  After he was injured, Jackson was moved to a farmhouse about 10 miles away, where he died.  That house is a nice little museum in itself about 10 miles south of Fredericksburg.

Calling Arlington National…

Calling Arlington National Cemetery nothing more than a "giant cemetery" is a disgrace.

I live in the Fredericksburg…

I live in the Fredericksburg, VA area, and there are so many battlefields around here it makes your head spin.  None of them are really set up like Antietam (which is a must see if you pass by within an hour of it) or Gettysburg, but there's so much.  And the visitor guides will take you right to them.  It's a cute little city, too!

There was a time in my life…

There was a time in my life where I took these two days off for this tourney - even if Michigan wasn't in it.  Alas, that is no more...

You'll be okay when that first sweet playoff championship trophy is hoisted by Sherrone in ~Jan 2025...

My initial guess on the…

My initial guess on the outcome - the translator gets blamed and somehow finds himself leaving the country.  Ohtani will get some type of reprimand for doing what Japanese culture says he can do, but won’t face legal charges other than a big fine and some tax penalties.  MLB will suspend him for a few inconsequential games and he’ll be around for the showcase teams (uhh, I mean Dodgers) playoff run.  Everybody will shake hands and laugh with each other, and the adoring public will fawn at the ‘size’ of the fine levied.

The translator just throws…

I like 'em, but they seem a bit generic for a Heisman catch phrase...

HAHAHAHAAAAHAHA!!!!  Open…

HAHAHAHAAAAHAHA!!!!  Open practices so the public can watch?  LMAO!!  You haven't been a Wolverine fan for long, have you?  Harbaugh put up tarps around the practice fields so nobody could watch from the bridge next to the field, let alone up next to it.  That was (probably) a response to people stealing footage and signs and passing them around the entire league.  No way Moore will open it up beyond that.

I think that Moore and…

I think that Moore and Campbell will open up some aspects of the offense that Harbaugh kept closed off.  And by that, I mean using Edwards in different spots - in the slot and out wide as a WR, along with routes coming out of the backfield, and - dare I say - wheel routes.  You know, the whole Chris Evans in Space package that we never saw from the Harbaughffense, ever.

Of course, those are things we always hoped we'd see in the Harbaughffense, but never did.  And by never, I mean never, ever, in the history of eternity, did we ever see anything like that.  So maybe this is just another hopeful post?  But God I hope not...

Tony Bennett i still…

Tony Bennett is still collecting on that sweet NCAA win a few years back.  Hasn't exactly earned it since, but he's still collecting on it...
