this latest image is the least 'hot' that it's looked all day, but it varies a lot in a small amount of time. most of the day it has been filled with a dark swath of red.
EDIT: forgot to answer the 'time' question. i'd say as soon as it gets dark (sunset up here about 9:00) so by 945-1000 you might be able to see something. and don't get discouraged if you don't see them right away, check back every 15-30 minutes. they can be extremely random in timing and intensity. i guess that's part of the fun of seeing them.

i got choked up a couple of times during the eulogy and had to pause for a few seconds. it was too somber of an occasion to use the old mike myers, 'talk amongst yourselves' line, though i do try to put at least some humor into any that i've done.

agreed re: grief. i analogize it to getting a severe bruise. it hurts a lot when it happens and its all you think about. eventually it hurts less and you don't think about it 24/7. then after a while its out of your daily thought process, but things will remind you of what caused the bruise. you just have to let time pass. learned that lesson as a kid when mom died.

we played in toronto when i was on the jr. wings and were treated like celebrities, and then some. beat the canadian junior national team (the 'young nats') and you'd think we won the stanley cup. saw the leafs play the LA kings for the western conf title years back during the first gulf war and decided then that i liked them and would root for them if not in conflict with the wings. i don't think they've won the cup since something like ~67? hockey's version of the lions.
the wings were fun to watch down the stretch, pulling a number of come-from-behind thrillers out. bummed they aren't in the playoffs, but it was great to watch the wings play well in meaningful games. LGRW.
How far is the distance between the vertical supports of your 2x6?
I do a lot of pull-ups and out weigh you by 50 lbs. I would not be worried about using a 2x6, assuming the wood is in good condition. Some flex (deflection) is no big deal, just use all that gray matter you have, you’ll know.
