FWIW, certain Evaluators believe JJ had the best day out there of all of the QBs and is the most ready prospect for the NFL. Commentary on this is at the 5:45 mark
“That ball went 60 yards in the air”.
”He just dropped a dime”
Awesome to watch and listen to the matter of fact commentary!
Who was that guy who said he had JJ as a 4th or 5th rounder?
Probably someone who wanted his team to snatch him up
Probably our favorite 3rd base coach, Ryan Day.
Or every buckeye fan who still swears to this day that JJ has no accuracy, can’t throw and a JJ led team could never beat THE OSU!
Yet he's 3-0 against Ohio. So are they actually just trying to shit on their own team?
I thought he looked good. A little slow on letting it fly on some out patterns but Hartman looked terrible and Milton had fun but... No... Nix had touch at times but I don't see him doing much. Didn't see the zip or arm strength. Happens when you're 40.
I am a Broncos fan and I hope to God we don't draft Nix. He was a good college QB but frankly just isn't cut out for the NFL.
Noodle arm.
He was good for one year….
Nix was good for 2 years
He will be just like Drew Lock in the NFL
Just like college, give Nix 7 years in the NFL and he can become a great starter.
He will be 52 y/o, but he will be great.
Speaking of Milton, I read where he's still a big Michigan fan and rooted hard for them in the play offs. He's an alum and proud of his Michigan degree.
He's a good dude.. hopefully ends up on a decent team and signs a respectable contract...maybe with a Wolverine he can throw to.
Great to hear.
Happens when you're 40....Tom Brady says hi.
JJ climbing that ladder after today!
Dude is a robot built to play QB in the NFL
Do robots meditate to reach Electric Nirvana?
Good question. I think it’s more of a fully charged state of consciousness
Do androids dream of electric sheep?
Nice reference
That was the reference, yes
A rare time when the film is better. A Scanner Darkly is Phil K. Dick's masterpiece. Do Androids Dream... is okay but not great.
Starring MGoUser ScannerBlue?
This is going to be a fascinating draft/offseason. So many QB-needy teams (as usual--this year it's CHI, WAS, NE, ATL, LV, DEN, PIT, NYG, MN*/TB* *pending FA issues, and maybe SEA, not to mention ARI and CLE who wish they could change QBs), and so few FA QBs (only Cousins has good numbers; when the 2d best QB FA is Baker, it's a bad year for QB FA's).
Add in the mix: three allegedly top-notch rookies, plus JJ who seems to divide the talking heads, plus Nix, Penix, Rattler, even Jordan Travis...
I mean, you could see four or five QBs going in the first ten or fifteen pics--if not the first four or five picks. And nothing is obvious. CHI, because they are run by idiots (full disclosure: OP grew up in Chi burbs so is, unfortunately, a Bears fan) may run it back w Fields for a couple bags; WAS and/or NE might realize they need to build up their teams first and trade back--taking a rookie when the rest of your team sucks wastes the first year of a rookie QB contract; PIT is a total mystery what they are going to do. Does ATL give $ to Kork Coupons or go w/ a rookie? Does SEA do one more year w/ Gino?
Hell, even throw MIA and DAL into the mix, if they don't want to renegotiate w/ their QBs and want to get value now instead of facing Dak or Tua go into FA next year. (There is simply no accounting for Jerry Jones's uber-maximum confidence in himself and thus uber-minimum intelligence level.)
Totally wild.
Browns fan here. My fever dream is the Browns offer the Bears a third this year and next for Fields.
He’d be one hellofa backup to the freak.
Do you still think Watson is the answer?
Absolutely.
What’s the question?
Who is Sherlock Holmes' assistant and best buddy?
Doc Watson. Good detective. Great bluegrass player.
Browns fans love their rapist QB.
Watson has been very average the past 2 years/12 games.
Regarding Washington or New England trading down it wouldn’t be the smartest. In that league you need a QB to compete if that guys there you have to take the shot and pick him regardless of what the rest of the team looks like. There’s no guarantee when you’ll be in a position to get a franchise guy again. They don’t hit free agency.
What if ATL is in love with Drake Maye? The Pats could trade down to 8 and get McCarthy! I would love that.
TBH his throw on the post route needs work. But everything else looks like what we all know.
He struggled in the places we watched him struggle at UM and was terrific in the places we watched him be terrific at. His evals seem pretty accurate.
His most inconsistent throw remains the short-intermediate out. He tends to sail it or put it at the WRs feet. His deep ball still needs work. That said, he's throwing to guys he has never thrown to before so it's a little wonky for most QBs at The Combine. He'll do better at his pro day.
I maintain that he needs to go to a spot where he can sit for a year or two but it's looking more and more like a team may decide to take him as their franchise QB. If so, I hope it's staff and system that can help him early.
I'm starting to think that Washington might lean JJ at 2 over Maye or Daniels
I think Maye is slipping a little, I think JJ is above him to some/ half the teams. Not so sure about Daniel’s though.
Rapsheet said the "big 2" is becoming the "big 3" with JJ being placed near Caleb/Maye on some teams' boards.
Ben Albright, Denver reporter/media guy who’s very connected nationally said recently the Broncos really want JJ but know he’ll be long gone by 12 when they’re picking. He thinks he’ll go top 3.
He also said stat watchers like the national media & randoms on Twitter with all 22 film don’t like him. NFL scouts & coaches LOVE him.
As a Bears fan, I want the Bears to trade Fields and the No.1 pick. Take JJ at no. 5 or 6.
Caleb seems like a boom or bust guy to me. Great talent, but the way he was sulking and pouting when USC was losing is a huge red flag. Seems like he could flame out if he lands on a crappy team or has a bad O-line.
Well … count the Bears out then.
100%. Perhaps chalk it up to his Dad and playing in LaLa Land, but dude seems like a real head case.
I would be more concerned that he can’t read a defense and has terrible pocket presence than his sideline attitude.
McCarthy being seen as a top 3 QB, or on that level, would be great for Harbaugh. I’m guessing the Chargers, sitting at #5 with many needs, would prefer to trade down a bit, and if the market for McCarthy heats up, it helps them get the most value.
Harbaugh trading down so another team can take JJ will have some weird vibes around it, even if Herbert is an entrenched starter.
(Edit: maybe he trades with Macdonald?)
It won’t have weird vibes around it at all since no one in the NFL would draft JJ in that scenario.
