Basketball thread v. McNeese State

Season officially written off in my book.  This is Howard's version of Harbaugh's 2020 season. One more chance next season while we start building dossiers on potential replacement.  But if he wins the conference in 2024/25 or something I suppose we keep it rolling.

This is completely unacceptable. I don’t care if a Fab Five alum or a guy from Home Depot is coaching. With the brand and resources alone this should never happen. Even Brian Ellerbe only did this…sometimes 

No one should watch or attend another game till Juwan is fired.

This team is lost, no hustle, no discipline, no attention to fundamentals. Will T should have played all game over Reed, Reed was way too slow to be effective against a team that athletic. Our offensive sets are horrible, what happened to Juwan learning Smoltzra and Riley’s creativity? Everything we lack is under our control and thats the most frustrating point, its all on Juwan. Seeing McNeese walk 5 in a row with their arms all around each other at the end just demonstrates the vast difference in culture. The only positive tonight was showing my son the importance of details and fundamentals tonight….and meeting JUB. I’m done watching this team, they have already demonstrated they don’t and won’t do the little things required to win.

I will always root for UM, and will NEVER get to the point of being disinterested.  That said, we stink.  

No-Fun Facts: Michigan at 6-7 now is the only Big Ten Men's Basketball team with a losing record this season. McNeese State at 11-2 now is the only Southland Conference team with a winning record this season.

Is this the same team team that defeated Marquette in a pre-season scrimmage?

Burn it down. 

Didn't watch, wasn't able to or interested. Not surprised they lost, I put an ML bet on McNeese State earlier today. Can't really speak to the game itself as I didn't watch it, but per box score even on the rebound battle (10 offensive rebounds allowed), -11 for turnovers, -12 on fast break points, -28 on points in the paint. Mind you that they weren't playing Arizona, UNC, or Gonzaga where you may expect splits like this, it was against McNeese State!! We have now lost games to both Will Wade and Todd Golden this year - two guys who are regarded as horrible in-game coaches. Unfortunately, this is the program we have now. Hope that the very vocal & unconditional Juwan defenders amongst us can begin to see the light now. The bball program has been dug into a deep hole, and our coaching staff doesn't have the slightest clue on how to get us out of it. Add on that if the McDaniel rumors are true then things are about to get a hell of a lot worse! Change is very much needed 

Beginning to think all the compliments from Miami Heat players and coaches was to get Juwan outta there.

Looks like you can't go to the Wells too often, after all, or at least when playing Michigan. You'd think they could have adjusted.

I'm not familiar at all with these players aside from Dug. Maybe the problem is in not knowing what to do with the portal, or swinging and missing on five-stars who wouldn't be attracted here until Juwan had a brand.

There's no one thing that's wrong with this team - coaching, players, strategy. It's just not a good team, though when it comes to coaching any team can get better on defense if that's a priority and the coaching staff puts in the time. This is a really bad defensive team.

Not sure about Juwan. I sure like the idea of Juwan and his connection here. But he seems too old to be having temper issues, so maybe that's what's getting in the way of improvement and this should be the end.

I completely forgot that Michigan basketball was playing this evening.  And I am glad that I did.  This team has become an afterthought.

Howard's gotta go.

Warde wont can Howard this season, even though he should.  Warde's excuse will be that the team needs one more season to gel.  Warde is wrong.  There is enough talent on this team to reach the NCAA tourney, yet Howard doesnt have the coaching skills to make it happen.

Howard doesnt have a strong understanding of the Xs and Os required during a game.  Howard doesnt know how to improve the inherent talents of the players on his team.

So frustrating.
