Well you don't want to be down anyone, but considering CJ, Bell and Roman are your top three guys and none of them appear to be injured or limited, I don't think the wideout situation will affect Michigan too much in this game. It does make depth limited, but I don't think you're losing a lot of projected production.

Neither will not having NHG on the field. Don't get me wrong, I want him there, but Michigan has been without him the whole year, so its a situation that they are well prepared to handle. I know there were reports a few weeks ago that he was out practicing, but it seemed pretty unlikely anyway that he'd be able to get back in game shape and be ready to get the pads on and start hitting guys in full force by 12/31.

If Henning is out, maybe that makes punts a little more interesting, but I think Roman and Bell are capable of handling those duties. Henning is also a little more, shall we say, brave with his decisions on punt returns than I'd be. Definitely times where I'd call for fair catch and he chose not to, but it hasn't blown up in Michigan's face yet so I guess I have nothing to complain about.

Getting Mike Morris back, though, will be huge.

Only real loss is Henning since Andrel hasn't been targeted much. And it's not definitive

I interpreted what was written as Morris being full go

I also bet RJ is not just at LB for depth but also to provide more speed to potentially spy Duggan if need be

This was my thought too re: spying and speed.  Move him up to spell Barrett or Colson.  He’s got the speed to run with the RB and QB and experience moreso than Rolder.  I really like Rolder but I think their style fits Moten’s skill set better at this point in their careers.  IMO this is a very good move by the staff.

I was duped by the timestamp on the article. The timestamp is from this morning, but that's when it was last updated. So I didn't search beyond today on the board.

Apologies. Apparently there's 48 other things wrong with my post, anyway, and I was quickly reminded why it's better to just stick to making shitty comments on the posts 'round these parts.

A bit of a tangent. From earlier discussions it looks like Corum will neither play, nor dress.  However, I hope the rules regarding players traveling for bowl games are such that Corum can travel with the team and, be on the sideline for the game.

In my experience, 20 years ago, he certainly can. Unless it’s changed, typically everyone goes to bowls and there is no rule against bringing players who don’t dress it’s just teams prefer not to because the travel roster is typically smaller. I’m pretty sure everyone can travel to bowl games though.

This title and post was waaaaaaay more ominous sounding than the article.

What we know on the injury front...

  • Henning, Walker, and Anthony are limited. Which means all of our most consistent and relied upon WRs are full go.
  • Mike Morris looks to be good to go.
  • Donovan Edwards has a smaller cast on -- as reported elsewhere
  • NHG, who has been out all year, continues to be out.

Ideally, Walker and Anthony would be healthy enough to get Bowl reps, but that's about their development rather than an immediate need. And also ideally Edwards would be full go so he could be an effective receiver out of the backfield, but they never gave us a timeline on the cast, so it is what it is.

All in all a fairly encouraging report.

I'd argue that including the names of said players would be helpful.

Being down some backup WRs isn't a deal breaker.  I think Morris makes a go of it but could be limited.

Don't drink the swill or swing outside the strike zone. If there is one critique of our punt return it was dredging for balls on the turf inside the 25. Not that it happened too often.

I would prefer Henning take our punt returns, but it likely won't affect the game if he doesn't.

All Aussie's should be immune from roughing calls.  This guy especially has acting props. Anytime a punter takes a step outside the normal release... smushbait.

Empiricus, this rule needs to be clearer.  If the punter is outside the tackle box, if the punter has taken “X” steps - then, the punter changes from a protected player to a ball carrier.  And, when that change happens, the protection afforded a punter is no longer valid.

I wonder if anyone has done any statistical analysis of not catching or returning punts. Cons--you might give up field position. Pros--you can't fumble the punt, get a return penalty, and fake punts are basically off the table.

When Jabrill was catching punts I never had any concern, but AJ sometimes makes me clench.

Mostly good news. I'd be surprised if Morris isn't close to 100% after having essentially time off since the Nebraska game. Unless it's something that needs post-season surgery, I'm expecting him to be a big force in the game.

Ronnie Bell is a pretty solid PR guy, so for 1-2 games he should be able to cover for AJ.

Also hoping that CJ Stokes had some good practice time to learn a bit more on reading his blocking and popping through the right spot. I do like the giddy-up he brings - like the end of the PSU game where he nearly broke a long run for a TD.

Also glad Moten is getting some PT at LB. He may be in there at times as a spy for Duggan.

Mike Morris being back signals a really really really good sign. Part of me was thinking he'd be one of the players that wouldn't have suited up in the Winged Helmet again if we had lost to Ohio State.
