OT: Lions-Broncos.

Submitted by SalvatoreQuattro on

Last chance for the Lions to beat Manning.  Can the Lions summon the magic to over come their losing ways to beat the Broncos?

He has the elite arm strength
He's athletic
He's physically tough
And has a gunslingers mentality

If that doesn't dound like Favre, I don't know what does.

The difference is that Stafford is just straight up dumb, doesn't appear to have the same passion as Favre did., and has received virtually no coaching or oline support. Without what I just mentioned, you have a less douchy, younger Cutler.

TALENT DOES NOT EQUAL PHYSICAL ABILITY.

I wish that people would put some thought in to that statement.  Perhaps most people are not capable of deep thinking?  I dunno...what is in others minds.

A strong arm, and somewhat athletic does not equal the TALENT that Brett Favre had/has.

I just completely disagree with that.  Fuck...if you think that way...what was Ryan Leaf?

TALENT IS MORE THAN PHYSICAL ABILITY.

0-3 doesn't bode well for the playoffs. This team was built to win NOW. This is no rebuild according to the coach. I am 100% convinced Stafford is not the QB to lead a team to the Super Bowl.

$9.7 million of Suh's prior contracts are counting against the Lions' cap THIS YEAR.

That's a fair amount of talent that could have been added to this team

Worse is Stafford's contract, which is likely the reason the Lions had to mortgage Suh's cap hits into the future, which is why they had to let him go.

Also unlike college, most players do move around in their career and play on multiple teams with many different teammates, so it is not unnatural to chat or congratulate a player that is currently on the opposition.

Need 2 scores in 2 minutes so you throw 12, 5 yard passes and leave yourself :30 seconds ( never scoring) meanwhile the best jump ball receiver possibly of all time is just a decoy. So dumb.

This offense lacks imagination. Oh hey I have an idea! Let's run the ball on 1st down again! Yeah, respect the run. Or something. OH hey, it gained 1 yard. WOO! Let's run again! Minus two yards. 3rd and long...well I suppose it's time to pass now, eh?

Borges would be proud.

They had a complete lack of urgency until it was too late. And even then they got to the redzone and somehow only targeted the Endzone once (the commentators were openly mocking them too...hey guys, you're down by 12 and there's a minute left, if you're trying to score you need to stop dinking it 5 yards every pass!)

I just don't believe the "respect the run" crap. If you can't run, you can't run. Then stop running! Not only are you gaining 1-2 yards at most and wasting a down, you're also happily bleeding off clock for Denver.

This is why I don't watch the NFL...

Lions' failures strongly correlates to 1 thing and 1 thing only - ownership by the Fords.  You can bring in all new players and all new coaches, but they and the continued losing are the constants that remain.

I'm glad I don't get to see the Lions much! They may show the Chiefs vs Lions game from London but by that time the Lions will be 1-6! I'm sure the coach will have to go 0-16 before he is fired!

Ever since Caldwell took over the Lions offense has stunk.   They were #6 in offense in 2013 before he took over, but dropped to #19 last year.  And this year they look even worse.  What the heck?  Is Caldwell just an awful offensive coach?

It's pretty clear Calvin Johnson made Stafford look good for many years.... Now that CJ is falling off, Stafford looks mediocre aka he always was mediocre.

CJ actually bailed Stafford out many times. But...Stafford isn't getting him the ball nearly enough. What happened to "throw it up in the general vicinity of CJ and see if he can catch it"? Remember when Stafford's problem was throwin it to CJ too much? That's been the Lions best play the last few years...and right now CJ is being severely underutilized, all in the name of "respect the run".

but they just cost me winning my football pool this week. Ultimately it is my fault for picking them, but good God that was a pathetic offensive display. It wasn't Bears bad, but it was close.

WHY? WHY? WHY??????    40+ Years of losing. Thats where I personally told the Lions I will always love you like an ex-wife... So therefore, I will no longer watch as you play other fans like a violin the way you played me, breaking my heart over and over.again. Goodbye Lions, its been fun but not very fun.

How the dick do you let a guy behind you on 4th and 1 with 13 seconds left in a half? I get that you want to defend the first down and prevent a FG attempt, but a TD is absolutely unacceptable in that situation. Take away that TD and the Lions had a real chance to win.

And that procedural penalty on Denver's FG was beyond words.

Also of course they got an extra point blocked. They looked lazy on it from the snap. The new extra point rule is designed to punish dumb teams like the Lions.

So many unforgivable mistakes...way to perform in the Sunday night spotlight guys.
