Let’s hope his middle name…

Let’s hope his middle name isn’t “Norman”.

Scouts like him overall, but…

Scouts like him overall, but they don’t love him. NFL.com has JJ as an eventual starter. They don’t see him as an elite prospect. Based on that I think this is silly season.

Do they? They don’t have a…

Do they? They don’t have a running game and JJ is still a raw player.

Also the Lions have the best player Michigan has produced since TB12. Odds are that JJ won’t have as good of a career as Hutchinson.

Henschke confirmed it.

If if had millions I would…

If if had millions I would live in California above anywhere else except Michigan, Colorado, or Virginia. I need fall.

England would probably top them all.  Living in a castle in the Cotswolds  or along the coast..l😍

I have an FedEx form that…

I have an FedEx form that Howard signed back when the Fab Five days. It’s one of the possessions I have that I truly prize.

Some on here got it in their heads that I hated Howard because I thought he should have been fired for slapping a rival coach.

When I expressed that opinion I did so not with glee but profound disappointment that a guy who I legitimately admired possessed a personality flaw that made his continued employment as HC impossible.

This isn’t to say that I think him a bad man. I don’t. I just think that he needs to undergo therapy as I have done for the anger issues that he is struggling with. Hopefully he gets the help he needs and is once again coaching basketball. He has a lot to offer.

But more than that I hope he gets healthy and lives a long life. Heart problems are not to be trifled with. He has “bank”. He doesn’t need to coach. I would like to see him in an emeritus/ambassador role like JB or Sander and Calvin with the Lions.

30 years ago Juwan Howard was kind of enough to sign an FedEx for a kid he never met(a co-worker of my dad asked him for my dad). That simple act of generosity has lasted the decades.

Did you see what FAU was…

Did you see what FAU was before him? Dude literally has never had a losing season at a school that had a ton of them before he arrived.

(No subject)

Look at what FAU did before…

Look at what FAU did before May and look at what they did during May’s entire. It’s night and day.

Willy Wonka? More like Veruca Salt(y).

FAU basketball before him…

FAU basketball before him was a nonentity. He turned it into a Final Four school. He built something at FAU. That matters.

He has never had a losing…

He has never had a losing season in six years as a head coach. He built a program at FAU into a Final Four school. This on the surface seems like an excellent hire.

UM would return most of its offense in 2025 including its QB. Defensive would be a reload, but there is young talent there familiar with the scheme.

His birthplace. Washington and Lee in Lexington, Virginia where he is and Stonewall are buried would be interesting. Chapel there has a giant tomb for Lee.

This isn’t entirely accurate…

This isn’t entirely accurate.

The Royals are heads of state. A living symbol of a 1000 plus old history that goes back to before William the Conqueror. Their ancestors quite literally made the state we call England. That can’t be said of most British or its diaspora.

Our ancestors made no decisions to create a nation. They were too busy trying not to die from Plague and eeking out an existence.

The Royals live off monies paid to them by the state from revenue generated by the Crown estates as well a their private holdings. In exchange they represent the UK and its interest by attending ceremonies, promoting government approved programs, etc.  They are promotion tools at this point.

Royals are a central part of British identity for many Brits. For others…not so much. At some point the Royals will probably cease to exist. What that means for an unity in an increasingly fractious UK one can only guess.

Pretty much everyone…

Pretty much everyone worships someone for reasons like fame, music, etc.

But they do care about what…

But they do care about what some chud on TikTok does.

Yikes.

Name a country and you will…

Name a country and you will find indigenous empires who massacred huge amounts of people and destroyed countless cultures along the way.

Elizabeth I was far from mediocre. Same for Edward I and III. Henry V wasn’t either, but he was a genocidaire.

Democracies don’t solve the issue of mediocrities achieving power.

Hmmm.(Also a descendant of…

Hmmm.(Also a descendant of famine refugees)

  • The British Empire did what every empire has done in history except they took it global. Africa, Asia, and the Americas had empires pre-European colonization who killed huge sums of people. British didn’t really bring anything new in regard to brutality. For whatever reason people want to believe that empire, colonialism, and genocide are recent phenomenons.
  • The Royals haven’t been directing the empire since James II. The Glorious Revolution and all that.
  • The current Royals colonized no lands, do not practice pederasty, and while perhaps racist are hardly along in having to battle that affliction.
  • Ireland was first occupied centuries before the British Empire came into being. The Anglo-Normans, the heirs of William the Bastard, were invited in by the leader of a Irish tribe.
  • Britain has been invaded and colonized multiple times throughout it’s history including by the Irish.
  • Kate Middleton and Charles are humans suffering from cancer. That is all that matters.

My ancestors may well have…

My ancestors may well have been on both sides as I had relatives in North Carolina and UK at time. Rest were still bouncing about in Europe.

I feel a certain level of ambivalence toward the Revolution.

Seppuku or harakiri is an…

Seppuku or harakiri is an act of honor. Japanese officers would do so if they felt they had disgraced the Emperor by losing a battle. Better to die than to surrender and admit defeat. Surrender was dishonorable in the Imperial Japanese military of the early to mid  20th century.

This had catastrophic consequences for the unfortunate POWs who were in Japanese hands. The Japanese viewed these men as lacking honor and thus worthy of no respect or dignity. It was equally so for the Japanese rank and file as they would regular suffer  Cannae-level fatality rates in battles. 98% fatality rates occurred multiple times in the Pacific Theater due to Japanese refusing to surrender. This created a level of bitterness among GIs and Marines and an extreme level of concern over what an invasion of Japan would be like among the upper echelon of the military and government. The decision to drop the atomic bomb was significantly influenced by these fights to the death.

Corned beef isn’t Irish. It is a British colonial food. Irish traditionally ate chicken and fish before the English/British colonized the island and turned over Irish farmland to cattle grazing. Beef, an English food, soon became the dominant source of food exported from occupied Ireland.

The native Irish were left to depend upon the potato. A fact that would have devastating consequences for millions of Irish including my ancestors who lived in the areas hardest hit by the potato blight or famine.
