The Saturday that Michigan plays Maryland this season - prior to The Game, these are some of the teams facing SEC opponents - UL Monroe, Georgia State, Florida International, New Mexico State, Chattanooga, Abilene Christian, and Southern Miss.

And, in the ACC, Florida State is actually scheduled to play Alabama.  Oh, wait a minute - the Seminoles play North Alabama that weekend.

Yep - that's exactly what Frames is going after.

All this scheduling hand wringing is silly. Who cares how our bottom 6 teams stack up to everyone else's bottom 6. They are all trash.

PSU, OSU, then the Big Ten championship (please be a 1 loss Wisconsin) Maryland. That is where it matters and only a Pac12 team can match that.

He needs some cover from all the shards breaking in that glass house of his.  At what point did the PSU scheduling people ever think Delaware and UMass would be stout noncon foes?  There's zero way they can spin that schedule.

He is wrong in saying, "buying a ton of contracts to go in another direction."    Most contracts are now signed electronically literally weight nothing.  Even if printed if each contract averages 2 ounces it would take 16,000 contracts to equal a ton.

I think we moved 2 games in the last 2 years that would equal 2 contracts-  not a "ton" as idiot James Franklin has stated.

I think if he wants to point out weak schedules he should look at pretty much every B10 West schedule.  The disparity of winning the East vs the West is what if anything he should be bitching about in the B10.

How is your glass house Frames?   Penn States 2024 OOC schedule:

This is so dumb.  The only thing that matters is who wins when we play each other.  Frankly Franklin, if/when we beat you you’ll look that much worse losing to a team that played such cupcakes.

Franklin might have a point...if he were actually right about strength of schedule (and other posters have already pointed out that he is at best only trivially correct) AND -- far more importantly -- if Penn State didn't have Michigan on the schedule this year.

But Penn State does play Michigan this year.  So everyone should be able to formulate a pretty good idea about which is the better team.  And even if it is too close to call -- due to a few unlucky bounces of the football, a questionable ref's call, or all those damned white shirts in the stands providing Penn St. an unquantifiable advantage -- there is absolutely no way that Michigan's non-conference schedule will have any impact on Penn State's fortunes this year.

So what the hell is he even talking about?

He knows Penn st is on the schedule and still said we purposely scheduled to win a natty..  lol

Speaking of having the schedule set up for you to win.  Wv hasnt been good in years, this year also @nw, bye week, umass, @osu…. Three weeks in a row if zero or no competition before osu and he’s going on about our schedule

So...I read the actual question posed to Franklin, and his response. It didn't really seem like he was taking a jab at anyone in the context of the question, but actually was defending PSU's decision the schedule teams like Delaware in the pursuit of going undefeated and positioning PSU to be eligible for the Playoff.

He was asked if he thought that philosophy would change with the expansion to 12 teams, and he said he didn't think it would (basically defending the decision to schedule Delaware, etc as giving PSU every opportunity to be undefeated or close to it to qualify, given other teams in the conference were doing the same thing, and had success doing it).

Seems like a twitter-er just trying to stir the pot, and a big nothing-burger.

Bo Harbaugh

He didnt say anything bad or untrue.  He was defending their shit schedule by saying other big programs have done the same in an attempt to make the playoff and it has essentially become a race to the bottom (in SOS) under the current team 4 playoff system.

Howeeeeeevvvvveeeerrrrr,

By referring to UM (which makes sense as they are the two time defending B1G champions) in an attempt to defend his program doing the same, he just inadvertently gave Harbaugh bulletin board material.  Typical Frames.  At least when Harbaugh takes a shot at Day and OSU it is intended and direct.  Frames just inadvertently gave UM disrespekt! without intentending to, lol

Well, here's the thing. When you go out and play that team with the so called weak schedule, beat them and it won't matter.

Oh, that's right. You're James Franklin.
