MSU lucks into playing Illinois without Cockburn or Curbelo, still loses
This was a game both teams did their best to try and lose. For U of I it’s a bit understandable considering they were missing their 2 best players, but for the life of me I have no idea how Sparty is (was) a top 10 team. They looked *terrible*. Look at this abomination and weep:

Weird guys excuse coming.

Isn’t he the most punchable human on Earth? Such an asshat whiner.
January 26th, 2022 at 7:55 AM ^
D'antonio upset me more ,sour miserable shithead
January 26th, 2022 at 10:08 AM ^
If you add in this face, then we have the punchable hat trick....
January 26th, 2022 at 10:31 AM ^
I think I saw a video explaining why Ted Cruz had a very punchable face.
I'm not commenting on his politics....just that his face apparently is scientifically "punchable."
January 26th, 2022 at 10:44 AM ^
I think its actually a more difficult task to find a face in politics that isn't punchable. Its almost prerequisite.
January 26th, 2022 at 2:22 PM ^
I'd rather they drink the water.
January 25th, 2022 at 9:14 PM ^
I think we can get them on Saturday with how we have been playing as of late and them losing 2 out of the last 3.
January 26th, 2022 at 1:29 AM ^
Certainly can. The 33% chance Torvik gives them sounds about right. They'd win it 1 of 3 times. Hopefully that one is Saturday. Should be a good one.
If Michigan takes care of business tomorrow (not a gimme though) and pulls off a win at Breslin, wow. What a week it will have been.
Go from dead in the water to just a half game behind Sparty and only one loss behind the conference leaders?
Just win tomorrow though.
January 26th, 2022 at 8:43 AM ^
Torvik is based on the past. We make our own futures at Michigan!
January 25th, 2022 at 9:15 PM ^
The one point loss.......is how I like to see Izzo lose.
January 25th, 2022 at 9:19 PM ^
The way he looked at Hall after the first missed free throw was exhibit Z on how miserable it must be to play for Izzo.
January 25th, 2022 at 11:23 PM ^
Which was SO tasty because years ago when Izzo was a player, he choked on a free throw and cost his team a game. It has eaten at him ever since.
January 26th, 2022 at 8:31 AM ^
And yet he still finds ways year after year to convince players who have no business coming back to college to keep coming back.
The Stockholm Syndrome in that program is very real.
January 26th, 2022 at 12:02 PM ^
The question: why would any parent let their kid play for that a-hole? He's been at the top of my shit list for decades - nobody else is close to that whiner and that includes every OSU coach from the late 60s to now. Azzo just has the type of face that needs punched regularly.
January 26th, 2022 at 8:01 AM ^
Can't believe my MSU +2 cashed after the made attempt to miss. What a perfect ending and the only bet I won last night.

It will be settled on the court on Saturday. Talk is cheap. Go blue.
January 26th, 2022 at 8:00 AM ^
Who's talking ? I haven't heard a word from either side about this game.
January 25th, 2022 at 9:18 PM ^
Illinois scored 4 points in the last 9:34 and won.
January 25th, 2022 at 9:23 PM ^
And a big fat zero in the last 5:33......
January 25th, 2022 at 9:30 PM ^
Some how I can hear Izzy screaming these stats in the locker room.
January 25th, 2022 at 10:21 PM ^
Whizzo??????
January 25th, 2022 at 9:19 PM ^
Damn. Wish I watched that. It's also unfair to izzo when weird guys play on the other team. Probably because Martelli is the only reason anyone is any good
January 25th, 2022 at 9:21 PM ^
As someone who watched it...no, you do not wish you did. Even for schadenfreude reasons.
January 25th, 2022 at 9:20 PM ^
Also, Illinois fans better hope Curbelo sticks around, cause if he, Kofi and Frazier all leave, they are going to suuuuuuck
January 25th, 2022 at 11:29 PM ^
they also got a couple solid transfer contributors this year. not sure if they can stay another year or not.
January 25th, 2022 at 9:21 PM ^
I wasn't real impressed with IL in their win against us.
January 25th, 2022 at 10:32 PM ^
Lol, sparty no! Our bench and walk-ons played the illiwhiners with Kofi tougher.
January 26th, 2022 at 9:22 AM ^
Dickinson was out for that one. Kofi was able to just push Moussa around all game.
January 25th, 2022 at 9:24 PM ^
Getting that sweet Izzo friendly whistle is a nice way to claw your way back in a game you have no business being in. Illinois was up big most of the second half and still wasn’t in the bonus after an intentional foul with 10 seconds to go
January 25th, 2022 at 9:53 PM ^
I want to see sparty lose as much as anyone but Illinois was not aggressive offensively in 2nd half. And they were missing two players that draw alot of fouls.
January 25th, 2022 at 9:24 PM ^
we play northwestern tomorrow night @ 6:30 at home. the cats beat sparty 2 weeks ago, in east landfill.
January 25th, 2022 at 9:27 PM ^
They also lost the 6 B10 games around that win (4 before and 2 after). That win says more about MSU than it does about NW
January 25th, 2022 at 9:42 PM ^
probably true, but you just watch sparty be en fuego vs. us.
January 26th, 2022 at 8:01 AM ^
No doubt..... they manage to pull the fire from the dumpster or off the couch and bring it to the court when they play us.
January 25th, 2022 at 9:24 PM ^
It’s a shame. A damn shame I tell you. Must’ve been some weird dudes making shots instead.
January 25th, 2022 at 9:33 PM ^
Just hate to see it...
January 25th, 2022 at 9:36 PM ^
Illinois was like “here take the win” and MSU was all “nope.”
Then the refs were like “I insist… at least take these two undeserved FTs and go to OT” and MSU was all “nope”
January 25th, 2022 at 9:41 PM ^
I never play with cockburn.
January 25th, 2022 at 9:46 PM ^
Predicted Izzo response, the old fake taking-responsibility gambit: “They didn’t do what I told them to do so it’s my fault they lost the game.”
January 25th, 2022 at 9:54 PM ^
Classic Izzo.

Trent Frazier goes 2-10 on threes and has the game high in points. That's pretty ugly
January 26th, 2022 at 1:36 AM ^
Speaking of ugly, I'll make this the CBB thread for the evening and talk about Arizona at UCLA.
Didn't watch it but looking that the box score, Kriisa (that pesky eastern european guard) was 0-12 including 0-9 from three!! And Mathurin was somehow 2-16 from TWO! That is unfathomable.
UA lost by 16 in what was a huge game in the PAC12.
January 26th, 2022 at 12:35 PM ^
I watched the first 8 minutes. Frazier missed his first three then made the next two, on consecutive possessions around the 14 minute mark of the first half. He had a layup before the threes and another after. So, more than half of Frazier’s points came early. Illinois didn’t appear to have many offensive options.
January 25th, 2022 at 10:09 PM ^
Meh. The only sparty threads I want to see here are when we're playing them.
January 25th, 2022 at 10:13 PM ^
Game was for the conference lead too.
January 25th, 2022 at 10:59 PM ^
That's fine, and if it was just a random "hey here's an interesting Big 10 game" thread I wouldn't care. But it's just more of this little brother schadenfreude that looks silly and inevitably comes back to bite us. Let the RCMB cesspool obsess over every little thing that happens with us. Don't return the favor.
January 25th, 2022 at 11:19 PM ^
I tend to agree when the game isn't relevant. If OSU beats MSU 56-7 in football and MSU is 4 games behind Michigan in the standings, everyone should just have a chuckle and move on. But when they lose 56-7 to OSU that eliminates them from the big ten race and sets up Michigan to win a big ten title, you better damn believe there will be a rightful celebration thread. Today is definitely more the latter than the former
