Just a hunch, Bama isn’t hiring a coordinator with no HC experience for that job

I'm more interested in the…

I'm more interested in the other players mentioned in that article who are transferring, especially Eli Holstein. Top 100 QB in last year's class, looks like he can run a little bit, and as a freshman the transfer shouldn't be an issue.

It's probably a pipe dream since he's from Louisiana but if JJ decides to go, Michigan should definitely check in with him.

That was pleasant to read,…

That was pleasant to read, but 2 things stuck out:

1-We are truly spoiled by the quality of writing on this blog. That was decently written, apart from him repeating the same thoughts over and over. Dude needs an editor.

2-in discussing Meyer’s emotional/poor coaching hires, he conveniently neglected to mention Zach Smith 🙄

Yeah sorry, there’s actually…

Yeah sorry, there’s actually a tiny link a the end of the url. Phone fail.

Thanks as always for doing…

Thanks as always for doing this. Gotta be honest—I’m really nervous about Oregon beating Washington and matching up with Michigan in the playoff. They look really dangerous.

It's really incredible. If…

It's really incredible. If Kirk Ferentz could just get out of his own paternal way and hire a real OC, that team could easily be top 10. The talent on the offensive side isn't great, but just competent and coherent playcalling and scheme probably gets them into the top 25 of SP+ offense, in which case they are top 10 overall.

Drew Allar is *not* him

The NYC marathon handles…

The NYC marathon handles this 2nd mile dilemma by making the 1st mile straight uphill (up a bridge) and the 2nd straight down. It’s lovely. Imo it’s the 3rd-20th miles that getcha.

Thank you for this…

Thank you for this explanation. I always figured it was an obscure Jewish thing :)

The current scuttlebutt is…

The current scuttlebutt is that Jesse Marsch will be the next coach, but won't start until after the Gold Cup.

Not thrilled about him as the choice. Even less thrilled that he won't start until August. Dude is unemployed, why do we need to wait? Seems like it'd be useful for him to get his feet wet at this Gold Cup.

"literally", "left", …

"literally", "left", "internet". Pick a word, this applies to this comment.

This is such a wrong take…

This is such a wrong take. Almost every word.

Your experience might be that you feel the "left" has veered leftward, but there's a very good chance you were never that "left" to begin with.

Meanwhile, the right is actively banning books and speech, seeking to narrow and curb civil rights for millions of people, embracing autocrats and dictators, and undermining democracy.

Oh, yeah, and many of them are actively racist too. (Exhibit A: The current twitter situation)

Yeah, after his excellent…

Yeah, after his excellent debut, he was thrown into some tough game situations for the USMNT and didn't shine. But he does a lot of little things very well, and he's been very good for a *terrible* Dutch team. And for a striker, being good even when the team around you sucks and struggles to create chances is no small feat.

He's also a very different type of player to Balogun, so it's going to be really nice to have them both.

Honestly, they have such a…

Honestly, they have such a huge and deep player pool, that losing him isn't nearly as big a deal to them as getting him is to us.

I'm sure they're not thrilled about it but it's not some huge existential crisis for them. Also they are so biased towards the Premier League, so you don't mean anything to them until you are performing well in that league.

He's 21, almost 22, fwiw

He's 21, almost 22, fwiw

I'm thrilled we got him, and…

I'm thrilled we got him, and I don't disagree with your assessment, but the title really sells Ricardo Pepi short. He's 2 years younger than Flo and is showing himself to be legit.

Having said that, it's always good to have more weapons and he's an exciting player. I hope they find a way to play him against Mexico next month.

You remember that time he…

You remember that time he entered the transfer portal and we all reminisced with our favorite stories about him?

That was awesome.

Sean Clifford would’ve been…

Sean Clifford would’ve been an upgrade on most Michigan QBs of the last 15 years

This team looks to be much…

This team looks to be much more athletic 1-5 than Rutgers ever is, but otherwise that’s the direction they seem to be heading.

I’m also hopeful the shooting is better, but we’ll see.

I don't want to go full…

I don't want to go full Rutgers, but I like the idea of an athletic, long, defensively pesky team. It may make for some ugly 62-58 wins, but I'll take that over a bunch more 78-74 losses.

I don’t have experience with…

I don’t have experience with that, but I’d assume that as long as your internet is fast enough it shouldn’t be an issue.

YouTube TV is, imo, superior…

YouTube TV is, imo, superior to other “cable” providers. Slightly fewer channels than cable, and way fewer than dish, but the price is excellent.

Also, the recording situation is far superior. I added Michigan FB and BBall to my library and every game gets recorded and I never have to think about it. I can watch on my phone and computer too, even when traveling.

Right, but now we have 5…

Right, but now we have 5. And it just seems like if you have limited transfer spots, and big needs at the 3 and 4, that you don't want to overdo it in the backcourt.

So, like, it's great to have all this guard depth now. But who is going to start at the 3? That spot seems really thin.

Plus Dug. It's 5 guys for 2…

Plus Dug. It's 5 guys for 2 spots, one of whom is (or should be) the locked in starting PG. It just seems like we have a gaping hole at the 3 and 4 and we're overloading on guys for the backcourt...unless at least one of these dudes projects to play the 3.

My question is: with…

My question is: with Llewelyn coming back, and Burnett and Love coming in, (plus The Prez), the backcourt is suddenly really crowded. Can any of these guys play the 3?

This is where I’m at with… This is where I’m at with these transfers. The talent and athleticism are there. This will be a real test of Juwans ability to coach them up and make them play together.
I'm happy for both of them.

I'm happy for both of them.

My question is, how much of a deterrent are these contracts for them taking a HC job? Like, I assume the program offering would need to be a big one to be able to materially improve on their salary. But is there also a buyout?

If SDSU somehow pulls off…

If SDSU somehow pulls off the upset, I win a pretty large pool. So of course I'll be rooting hard for them but I'm not very hopeful.

Connecticut looks unstoppable. They can beat you down low, or at the 3 line. They play excellent defense. They are super deep, so tired legs and/or foul trouble aren't a thing. The only way I see SDSU winning is if they somehow get a ton of offensive rebounds and get a bunch of 3s to fall while UConn has an off-shooting night. Even then, it's going to be a huge uphill battle for them.

I'm in a pool where the…

I'm in a pool where the scoring is typical (1 point first round, 2 next, 4 next, etc) EXCEPT you also get points for the seed of the team you picked to win. So picking a 1 seed to win the first round is worth 2 points. Picking the 16 seed is worth 17.

I didn't realize that was the scoring when I made my bracket, but it makes for some really interesting incentives in your picks.

10/16 with 3 of my final 4…

10/16 with 3 of my final 4 still intact. This next round will make or break me as I have SDSU beating Bama and making the final 4. If that happens I'll be in most excellent shape compared to the people I'm up against.

Daisy Jones and the Six on…

Daisy Jones and the Six on Amazon is pretty good so far.

If you like the Almost Famous-style fictional rock biopic, this is a solid entry in the genre (so far).

Added bonus: some good current musicians wrote the music the band plays (Phoebe Bridgers, Jackson Browne, etc) and the actors actually play and sing it, and they’re good!

Our Flag Means Death is…

Our Flag Means Death is definitely a specific type of thing, but it’s hilarious. If anyone likes other stuff by Taika Waititi, this is definitely one to watch.

As an aside, I also highly recommend his movie Hunt for the Wilderpeople. Brilliant stuff

Official word was "ankle injury" but I think we all know it was "he's too good for the NIT and is saving himself for the NBA combine."

I'll go on record that I think they lose this if Jett plays. Not least of which because Joey Baker's 21 points would've been relegated to the bench.

I’m 100% ready to leave this season behind, to the point I hope they miss the tournament. They’re not fun to watch, at all.

Having said that, if Hunter, Kobe, and Jett all come back (or at least 2 of the 3) they could be really good next year. If all 3 leave…oof. Prepare for more pain.

The NYT is one of the only…

The NYT is one of the only media outlets in any form still doing true investigative journalism. It's a huge entity with thousands of writers, so inevitably there are going to be clunkers from time to time. But to call them a tabloid is to either 1) grossly misunderstand the meaning of that word 2) grossly misunderstand what the Times actually does, or 3) both

I'd take next year's hypothetical backfield over that one. Hell, I'd take this year's actual backfield over that one. This year's pair had 600 yards more from scrimmage than that one did.

I stand by my statement even if you want to go back to the 1970s.

"Be a pretty solid backfield…

"Be a pretty solid backfield" is the leader in the clubhouse for understatement of 2023.

That would be the best Michigan backfield of any of our lifetimes.
