These 4 schools warrant a larger venue than 2500 seats.  Tickets are already SOLD OUT, and Stub Hub has standing room starting at $250.00, and seating all the way up to $2900.00.   Your point and picture are not wrong, but also not applicable here.

Not sure what you're talking…

Not sure what you're talking about.  A 2500 seat arena for these games with these schools ridiculous for the fans.  I have refereed Pee Wee and Bantam Tournament games in buildings that are this size.

MSU athletics lack ethical…

MSU athletics lack ethical standards to be sure, but I actually think of the hockey program as being relatively clean.  Conboy was rightfully booted out for his heinous assault on Steve Kampfer a decade back, but I don't remember anything else.

One of the best fights I…

One of the best fights I have seen actually took place at Yost between Myles O'Connor and Jim Cummins (goon for MSU) in the late 80's.  The refs let them go, so they did....in a punishing way you don't typically see in a college hockey game. I believe both were suspended.

Maybe he though someone else…

Maybe he thought someone else was taking care of it for him.

I owned part of a storage facility about 10 years ago, and would work there two days a week.  One day a guy came in with all of his belongings.  He was going to jail for 12 months, and said he would be sending money to a friend every month who would come in and pay.  After two months, the guy stopped coming.   Because I knew the circumstances, I waited an extra 60 days before auctioning it off, and when we did, I separated the photo albums and a few items that looked personal and set them aside.  It turns out the guy was paying his "friend",  who was just pocketing the money,  When he got out of jail and came in 13 months later, I had to tell him everything he owned was gone.  The guy actually broke down and cried, but at least I was able to give him some personal items.  Ugh.

I'm sure I am in the…

I'm sure I am in the minority, but I am fine with MSU having a solid hockey program again because I love the intensity of the rivalry when we're both very good.  Nightingale has turned them around faster than I could have imagined, so that gives me hope that our next BB coach can do the same if the right guy is hired.

MSU was not "occasionally"…

MSU was not "occasionally" better than us during the Mason years.  Once Red pulled us even (or slightly ahead), they were both powerhouse programs.  I will always hate everything about MSU other than a great admiration for Ron Mason, and I can't tell you how much I miss the intensity and talent that was on display during those games.

I met a lot of Bama fans at the Citrus Bowl a few years ago, and they were surprisingly cordial and very nice to our group.  Of course the stakes are much higher this time around.

You're living in the past a…

You're living in the past a bit here but also not necessarily wrong.  Right now, FSU is 18th and UF is 5th in the most recent US News public university rankings.  Yeah, Florida is higher, but the "little brother" hierarchy that fits so perfectly in Michigan isn't so clear in Florida today with both being top 20 universities.  The current state of athletics makes it even more level.  Finally, any campus that has it's own Big Top circus, isn't a little brother to anybody in my eyes

QB stats for the final three…

QB stats for the final three games:

Florida State: 441 total yards, 3 TDs

Michigan: 436 total yards, 1 TD

FSU also held Louisville…

FSU also held Louisville without a touchdown....the first time that has happened in 7 years.  And if the low yardage is an issue, Bama only put up 300 yards against USF...which had one of the worst defenses in all of college football (FAU gained 600 yards on USF).

Actually, I would prefer…

Actually, I would prefer they didn't hire Candle.  Toledo plays really solid football, and he would give them some recruiting in-roads in Ohio once again.

He has been separated from…

He has been separated from his (lawyer) wife for a few years now.  I believe she still lives in Colorado.

I know a lot of Spartan…

I know a lot of Spartan Alums, and they DO NOT cling to everything that goofball says.  He's a radio schtick trying to get ratings and be relevant.   There are certainly a lot of garbage State fans, but I think it is worth noting that the average alumni on campus are generally pleasant unless you are talking trash or trying to draw attention.

Napier has been at Florida…

Napier has been at Florida for one season...ONE.  We've got the OP talking about a downward spiral, and Boddiker suggesting he's in over his head and will get "canned" in two years.

I hate them like poison, but…

I hate them like poison, but there is some delusion in this thread considering we're on a one-game winning streak and have lost 10 of 15.   The coming 3-4 season streak for Michigan will put everything back in balance, but saying that bragging rights have "little meaning" is not really accurate.

College football games are…

College football games are won in the trenches.  MSU's O-line was respectable at the end of the year, and they've got good talent on the D-Line (and at linebacker).   They also brought in a new coach from the NFL for their secondary.   They might be better than we think if the quarterback plays above average. We will win in East Lansing by 3 scores, but I'll call 6-6 for them with at least one win over somebody that is ranked.

OK....sure.

I have sat…

OK....sure.

I have sat upstairs for Lightning games in that building and the sightlines are great for hockey.  The arena is not that large.

Say what you want about the Troll, but kids kids must like playing for him because they stay.

Perfect.  Leelanau County is…

Perfect.  Leelanau County is a peninsula and the roads don't go anywhere, so there is less traffic.  Besides that it is beautiful.

What's with the downvote ? …

What's with the downvote ?  Why would anyone expect an opposing coach to be unpleasant in that environment.  I met Ron Mason years ago and told him I was a Michigan fan.  He could not have been any nicer and we talked for 15 minutes.  One of the most pleasant interactions I can remember.

I don't care who "lasted" in…

I don't care who "lasted" in the NFL, that Burbridge/Lewis battle was one of the best WR/DB showdowns I have seen in a college game.

Sam's comment about Kenneth…

Sam's comment about Kenneth Walker rushing for a lot of "Cotton Candy" yards was a real winner.

The freshman QB in his first…

The freshman QB in his first game is lighting them up now. and you're an idiot.

He's a freshman.  Tim Lester…

He's a freshman.  Tim Lester is a good coach, and I'll bet this kid turns out to be an effective QB in a year or two.

Good Post.  I think it is…

Good Post.  I think it is obvious that Tucker knows how to run a program.  The question remains as to how good a game coach he turns out to be.

Phil Collins is not an …

Phil Collins is not an "insult" to music.  While I am not a fan of most of his solo music, he was an extraordinarily talented drummer, and his contribution to some of Genesis best music (pre-Abacab) should not be overlooked.

I'm not sure what could have…

I'm not sure what could have been done differently, but Aaron Paul pretending to be 20 years old didn't go very well

That makes no sense. …

That makes no sense.  Pearson should have been officially dismissed the moment the report hit Manuel's desk.

Warde Manuel's job as AD…

Warde Manuel's job as AD necessitates reacting to the questionable culture and ethics of Pearson's program immediately and decisively.  What he is "comfortable" with is irrelevant.

The report was completed in…

The report was completed in May.  If Pearson was "essentially exonerated" of serious allegations then common sense says he would have a renewed contract in place.  This whole situation (and the lagging timeline around it) is just weird.

Bryan Cranston and Aaron…

Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul were on set filming for 4 days last summer, so it figures to be more than a brief cameo.

I have always been in favor…

I have always been in favor of pursuing Georgia Tech.  B1G football in Atlanta would be fun to see, and it's not an difficult trip.  I know this is about football, and money, but sending student athletes from other sports to LA for mid-week games/events doesn't seem like the best idea.

F$ck State, but I was at a GLI game 25 years ago when Ron Mason plucked a couple of defensemen from the MSU club team because he had players in the junior tournament.

I took this pic on Friday morning before going into the gym.  I had no idea what it was at the time.

There is not much I respect…

There is not much I respect about MSU, but Ron Mason was the exception.  He did it with class, and those UM-MSU games with Red and Mason in their prime were among the most intense and enjoyable collegiate athletic events I have ever attended.

This is a high-level college…

This is a high-level college hockey game.  Really enjoyable to watch.

Yeah, I guess....  But part…

Yeah, I guess....  But part of me misses those Red Berenson / Ron Mason matchups when both programs were stocked with future pro-talent.  That was some of the most intense and entertaining hockey I have ever enjoyed.

Music was good, but the some…

Musical performance was good, but the some of the dancing was a bit much for my 7 year old.

For whatever reason, I think the kid actually wanted to play for Izzo but his Dad and his handlers shut that down.

They're an above average…

They're an above average team when Christie is on the floor.  That kid is a baller.  Hopefully he moves on after this season.  We look poorly prepared today,

Who's talking ?  I haven't heard a word from either side about this game.

Lots if kids have issues. …

Lots if kids have issues.  The stuff that happened after the accident is on a different level.  He was actually naked on school property yesterday...a school with kids.  MSU must be better at burying news than I ever thought possible if he was also doing the same in Lansing.

Such as ?   The guy was…

Such as ?   The guy was walking around a school naked and he attacked a police officer.  What issues did he have "long before" the head injury that were on par with this ?

Supervisor jokes aside, that…

Supervisor jokes aside, that ATV accident must have done some serious damage to this guy's head.   This is more than just stupidity.

We talk about Sparty's …

We talk about Sparty's "Super Bowl" like it is somehow funny or misguided.   I don't get that.  They prioritize an in-state rivalry over everything else, and I don't understand the "dig."

If Bell had played this…

If Bell had played this season (as well as Reed), and then surprisingly decided to return, yes they certainly would.  These are called blogs/message boards, and that is what people talk about.

I will never grasp the view…

I will never grasp the view that MSU is not a real rival, or that they are not relevant.  There were more of those silly "bump in the road" comments about losing to them in that Pitt game thread.  Nonsense.  It is an interstate rivalry, and those match-ups are one of the things that make college athletics so enjoyable.   Trivializing that feeds their motivation, and recent history shows that seems to makes a difference that is not working in our favor.
