Big 12 Championship Game Open Thread
This should be interesting. Both Oklahoma and Ohio State have to go for extreme style points.
But there is a risk if they press too much that they make mistakes and make matters worse.
If these games are close in the 4th quarter, there could be a meltdown.

I think Oklahoma will win big. Texas kind of sneaked up on them last time, but that won't happen this time.
December 1st, 2018 at 12:07 PM ^
Ok. Cool. Hook 'em!
Hopefully Texas wins giving us a shot at getting into the Rose Bowl
December 1st, 2018 at 12:19 PM ^
If Texas wins then OSU probably gets in the CFP.
December 1st, 2018 at 12:24 PM ^
Thanks for explaining to all of us how a non-B1G champion Michigan gets into the Rose Bowl
December 1st, 2018 at 12:25 PM ^
Which would mean a big Rose Bowl game for Michigan.
Honestly, I’d rather try to get up to OSU’s level then have them fall back to earth and then have us fall short against national teams in the playoff.
The benefit of having a top 5 program to face off against every year is that if you beat them you can beat anyone and win a national championship.
December 1st, 2018 at 12:25 PM ^
OSU in the CFP is fine. They get crushed by Bama, and we get a beatable Washington team in the Rose Bowl. Hook ‘em.
December 1st, 2018 at 12:38 PM ^
Any scenario that keeps OSU out of the playoffs is better for us. Screw OSU
December 1st, 2018 at 3:45 PM ^
no. We should never root for OSU to get to playoff. It's helping their recruit over us.
December 1st, 2018 at 12:36 PM ^
That is some MSU-level Little Brother shit. We should want the best for our team and program, regardless of what that means for our rivals. Plus Bama would take care of OSU in the CFP anyways.
December 1st, 2018 at 12:09 PM ^
First of 3 games (ok, UCF so maybe 4) that need to go with the underdog. I would love nothing more than the CFP 12 hours from now thinking well the hell are we going to do with the 4th seed. I think UM would have a shot, but no guarantee. Just would be fun drama. LETS GO DOGS!!!
December 1st, 2018 at 1:10 PM ^
They would still take Ohio State or Georgia over us.
December 1st, 2018 at 12:10 PM ^
I just don’t care about any conference championship games after what happened last Saturday
December 1st, 2018 at 12:10 PM ^
Over/under 100 points scored?
December 1st, 2018 at 12:11 PM ^
Which quarter?
December 1st, 2018 at 12:13 PM ^
Texas whiffs on 2 gimmee TDs in a row.
December 1st, 2018 at 12:16 PM ^
And still scores a TD. Gotta love that OU defense.
December 1st, 2018 at 12:19 PM ^
Why do they even field a defense? They should just kickoff and get out of the way. Move the inevitable along.
December 1st, 2018 at 12:23 PM ^
I suppose there's a chance a ball could ricochet off a helmet for an interception or something.
December 1st, 2018 at 12:20 PM ^
That's OK Texas' Defense is probably AWOL also
December 1st, 2018 at 12:26 PM ^
At least Texas cares about defense. They have a plan. They might be outmatched (like everyone has been this year against OU).
Oklahoma literally looks like they don't give a fuck about defense. Effort is terrible. Everyone looks confused. How do you give up open verticals 2 plays in a row??
I don't get the Lincoln Riley hype. He's the head coach, not just the OC. And this defense is just flat out fucking embarassing to watch.
December 1st, 2018 at 12:14 PM ^
OU does not belong in the playoff with this defense
December 1st, 2018 at 12:16 PM ^
One stop on defense wins this thing.
December 1st, 2018 at 12:16 PM ^
Switches channels for a couple minutes, turned back, already one TD scored.

Big 12 and no divisions was laughed at but I think they have it right. If you aren’t gonna make this a playoff (8 teams, quarterfinal games) than this weekend needs to be the top 2 teams. Need to drop the divisions. Simply go 2-3 teams you play every year due to rival, then random for all. End of year top 2 teams play this weekend. Imagine these matchups...
Clemson/Syracuse
Oklahoma/Texas
Washington/Washington St
Alabama/Georgia
OSU/Michigan
All 5 legit, except the Clemson/Cuse probably, but ACC just happened to suck.
December 1st, 2018 at 12:24 PM ^
Just go back to no conference championship games. Outright winners, drop divisions, only play a championship game if there is no sensible tie-breaker between top 2 teams
December 1st, 2018 at 12:35 PM ^
I would rather have this, but think no divisions is best for conference championships If they are set on keeping.
Michigan should be playing Clemson tonight in the 2/7 matchup.
December 1st, 2018 at 1:43 PM ^
Not sure a conditional championship game works. You need to determine the winner through the tie-breakers.

Oklahoma has the worst defense I've ever seen for a major program--and it's not even close. Bad players, confused players--just awful.
December 1st, 2018 at 12:21 PM ^
Watch OU and OSU play close games to Texas and NW and both win, and then Georgia play Bama equally close but lose and Georgia make the playoff.
December 1st, 2018 at 12:25 PM ^
I’d be ok with that
December 1st, 2018 at 1:17 PM ^
2 SEC teams again, and only 2 of the 5 P5 conferences in the entire CFP, will shut it down for good.
The CFP is an artificial contrivance, and the people that contrived it are going to shit-can it if they are always watching it from the sidelines.
Might be worth the short term pain if that happens.
December 1st, 2018 at 12:21 PM ^
Butkus prematurely rolling over in his grave watching this joke of a defensive display by both teams. Sad football
December 1st, 2018 at 12:23 PM ^
The announcers are wondering why they chose to put defense out first, it's to save the offenses legs. They will be on the field the whole time, you will need them to keep scoring every posession last in the game. Smart move.
December 1st, 2018 at 12:24 PM ^
Fun to watch for casual fan. For me, I would not want this defense at Michigan...
December 1st, 2018 at 12:30 PM ^
What defense.
December 1st, 2018 at 1:18 PM ^
But the offense . . .
December 1st, 2018 at 12:25 PM ^
I hope one day to get a QB who can throw like these guys
December 1st, 2018 at 12:27 PM ^
This game is going to be entertaining
December 1st, 2018 at 12:29 PM ^
Oklahoma doesn’t need style points. If they win, and Bama wins they are in. No doubt.
That said, go Texas. It’s likely better for us.
December 1st, 2018 at 12:31 PM ^
Never ever root for Osu ...Wtf.
December 1st, 2018 at 12:37 PM ^
Like when half this fan base wanted them to keep winning so our win against them would look better? Maryland completes that pass, we play NW. We make playoffs with win, Oklahoma/GA loss. People ever rooting for OSU is dumb.
December 1st, 2018 at 12:32 PM ^
Kyler Murray is really good, but OU's OL makes this offense special. He has hours to throw back there.
December 1st, 2018 at 12:32 PM ^
Osu knowing the outcome of this game helps determine their game plan also.
December 1st, 2018 at 12:36 PM ^
I don’t think it matters. They will try to win by as many no matter the outcome.
December 1st, 2018 at 12:36 PM ^
Absolutely no pass rush by sooners
December 1st, 2018 at 12:39 PM ^
By either team.
