The issue with Harbaugh…

The issue with Harbaugh teams of that time was being able to put up tons of points against inferior defenses but struggling against good defenses. The offense put up 14 points against Wisconsin in an ugly game, 13 against Iowa, 17 against OSU (in regulation), and 24 against FSU (8 pts were from a McCray pick 6 with a failed 2pt try and a Metellus blocked PAT returned for 2 pts) in a game where UM had 14 possessions. They could not run the ball to successfully pick up multiple first downs to salt the clock away against Wisconsin (defense bailed us out), Iowa, & OSU. And our passing game wasn't good enough to be effective when in obvious passing downs.

Nike's ruined MLB & NBA…

Nike's ruined MLB & NBA jerseys. The quality is worse, the designs are unimaginative, and they try too hard to push out way too new deigns each year just to sell more.  I was excited when they took over for those leagues and Michigan but it's been a let down. The fan gear is meh. And now because Nike sold exclusivity of making NFL & CFB fan apparel to Fanatics, the MDen lost their license to even sell stitched jerseys with player names/numbers. This is why you see players' families at games all rocking knock off jerseys from DHGate/AliExpress. It should be embarrassing for U-M & Nike but that's Nike MO, reduce quality & increase price because people will buy continue to buy anything with a swoosh or jumpman on it.

The green & white plate is…

The green & white plate is an ode to the 1955 "Water Wonderland" plate which came before the 1965 "Water-Winter Wonderland" plate.  I don't know why they went with the Pure Michigan font but they ruined it with that. It's funny how often people say "MSU isn't a rival" or "I'd be fine not playing MSU every year" but we constantly have these threads about the smallest thing about MSU or in this case assumed to be about "lil bro" when it isn't and people just don't know their history. These threads are what actually scream lil bro.

QB1 was absolute cinema. pic…

This clip resurfaced during the NFL Draft regarding how footage of Spencer Rattler in the Netflix series QB1 still has an impact on how front offices view Rattler. The clip is of Rattler having an exchange with high school teammate JD Johnson which reflects very poorly on Rattler. This is why you should never go on reality TV, but especially before your frontal lobe is fully developed and definitely not before you're 18. Rattler might've matured and grown up but that footage from when he was 17 will never go away.

Belichick is gonna be on as…

Belichick is gonna be on as well. I can already see it, Belichick going to the All-22 footage of a 3rd down play when Brady was expecting Cover 3 based on the pre snap look of the defense so Brady was planning to hit one of his TEs on a seam but the pass gets broken up because the defense disguised and rotated to a Cover 2 after the snap and Brady doesn't see the wide open Cover 2 hole shot. Belichick rips into Brady with his usual monotone & sarcastic self. Only to find out the play was from a game when the Patriots were up by 28 points in the 4th quarter.

They could go 12-0 with that…

They could go 12-0 with that schedule but then live up to Notre Dame 21st century tradition by getting absolutely smoked in the playoff.

Exactly. While he seems to…

Exactly. While he seems to be happy and “loves everyone” at the Chargers right now, it’s only a matter of time before similar friction with his bosses in LA surfaces. I’ve worked with people who complain about and have issues with every boss they have. Eventually you realize it’s not any of the bosses but the nature of the individual…

His interview during 2022…

His interview during 2022 spring practice with Harbaugh was so weird. Harbaugh rarely sat down to give interviews outside of required media appearances (aside from the first few seasons of his tenure). So to get an opportunity like that and use it to ask him if was a "meat peeker" in the locker room and shower? Harbaugh was obviously super weirded out and awkward in response to the question. Like grow the fuck up. This isn't the 8th grade anymore.

McGregor going I think was a…

McGregor going I think was a function of likely being passed by Derrick Moore for his nominal starting spot. Moore was on the field and not McGregor on that final 4th down play vs. Bama for a reason.

I think the one difference…

I think the one difference with football vs. basketball is a lot of players in football are okay with waiting 2-3 years to develop before getting an opportunity to start. In basketball, that’s a lot less likely to be the case. If a player isn’t getting substantial minutes by their sophomore year (or in the case of a touted recruit, their freshman year), they’re likely to transfer. While we can go over the 13 scholarship limit, I doubt we’ll see it happen often because there just won’t be enough minutes to go around.

Since I already own a 6th gen Camaro 2SS, I’ll go with an SUV: Escalade V. Luxury SUV with lots of space with the same 6.2L v8 supercharged engine from the C7 corvette z06, Camaro ZL1, and CT5 V black wing putting out 682 HP. One of the best stock exhausts I’ve ever heard.

I wonder how miserable…

I wonder how miserable Maizen was during the national title game and the aftermath. That man always found a way to be depressed about Michigan football in the face of glory.

As side note, beating out Miami (YTM) is a good sign after we've been hearing a lot the last few weeks about how M football is getting their NIL act together

It was always gonna be a…

It was always gonna be a noon game. We were supposed to be in Austin but since Texas wanted to leave for the SEC in 2024, Fox didn’t want to lose such marquee game to espn. So they made it work by playing In Ann Arbor this year so Fox can keep it and play in Austin for the return game later so ESPN can still have a game. Fox always had this game which meant it was slated for big noon the second that deal was made for Texas to be able to leave early for the SEC.

I wish the numbers (along…

I wish the numbers (along with names on the back) stayed silver on the home uniform but with the new font. Could’ve done without the “DETROIT” on the away whites. Like San Diego Mick said above, I hope they don’t wear black often; it gives too many mid aughts Lions vibes. I also liked the silver on the face mask. Overall it went better than most uniform redesigns usually go so I’ll just get used to it.

I think I read somewhere a while back that Dean Smith even told Kobe that in his honest opinion, he should go pro when Kobe was interested in UNC

Northwestern sent an email…

Northwestern sent an email to season ticket holders that said “we will likely host all non-conference games plus at least one conference game at the temporary facility.” Think the thought is playing these games early while the weather is nice and then using other Chicagoland venues when the weather would have quite an impact on a field right next to the lake. Plus they'd want to cash in on the number of tix they could sell when Michigan, OSU, Wisconsin, PSU, etc comes into town. Michigan will very likely not play at this temporary facility.

Nothing chocks my guff like…

Nothing chocks my guff like people who want to pour everything into Michigan football at the expense of all other M sports.

Our 1-6 record in national…

Our 1-6 record in national title games is so frustrating as you win just 2 of those and the programs stature is so different. Should’ve won in 2013: the block was clean but keeping Burke on the bench for the entirety of the last 12 minutes of the 1st half due to Beilein’s autobench after 2 fouls was a mistake as once Albrecht’s hot hand cooled (9 of his 17 points came while Burke was still on the floor) we let a 12 point lead dwindle to 1 point. Should’ve brought Burke back in the final few minutes of the half and trust your best player (who hardly fouled) to play without fouling. 1993 being the other one we should’ve won. 2018 and 1992 we just lost to the better team. 1965 & 1976 I have no context on.

Edit: didn’t realize this was about hockey and not basketball… awkward. On the MDen portion, I did some research and MDen didn’t open up until the early 80s when the founders (still the owners today) opened the first MDen in Briarwood and changed the name of their existing sporting goods store, Stein & Goetz, on Main St to MDen as well.

If you listen to him on his pod with JJ, he said he absolutely hated Duke until he met Coach K while on Team USA. So he wouldn’t have picked Duke back in 2003. He would’ve gone to Ohio St.

No thanks. Would hate to have to root for him to not work out in the NFL if he’s on a divisional rival as Lions fan. Hope the commanders, giants, or someone not in the nfc north takes him.

Tell her to start spending…

Tell her to start spending on the Tigers while she’s at it. 21st payroll in the MLB while having a shot at the division crown in a weak AL Central is a letdown to the fans. There were some free agents they could’ve taken a shot at that they never got involved for. They at least need to be closer to average payroll.

It’s interesting how winning has led this board to having more and more threads that read like they belong on RCMB & 11W. Who the hell cares. This is lil bro behavior.

I don’t think the senior day or classification matters. Mike Sainristil, Michael Barrett, Trevor Keegan, and Trente Jones were all classified as seniors and honored on Senior Day in 2022 but all returned for 2023.

I meant north end zone not south end zone. Haven’t had any coffee today and here I am mixing up simple cardinal directions.

Yeah the OP has definitely…

Yeah the OP has definitely gotten drunk off too much maize & blue kool aid. It’s the same people on here who talk about JJ like he’s the most perfect NFL QB prospect ever like they forgot about all the balls he threw behind or over the heads of open receivers or struggling to quickly process zone defenses at times. Will Johnson (barring injury) is the only player on the list who’s a reasonable lock for first round. Projecting any other player as an early or mid 1st rounder isn’t taking the maize & blue glasses off. They’ll need incredible seasons this year to make their way in.

Usually it’s two on defense…

Usually it’s two on defense and two on offense. And generally seniors. I’d go Moore + Paige and then Edwards + either Mullings or a senior OL.

Uhh yes, he’d be an upgrade from Mike Hart in that regard who for as good as he was coaching on field, Jordan Marshall was the only national blue chip recruitment that he won. Alford was at the helm while OSU brought in Mike Weber, JK Dobbins, Trevyon Henderson, and most recently James Peoples in this last cycle. Also found under scouted gems like Master Teague & Miyan Williams.

JUB throwing “but know one knows anything” behind any single tweet is getting infuriatingly annoying. Just say you don’t really have the inside sources you used to.

Nothing like having a few…

Nothing like having a few drinks outside in the sun during the afternoon/evening at Bill’s Beer Garden should the weather comply. Biercamp has some excellent pulled pork & brisket sandwiches, brats, smoked sausage, along with my favorite thing on the menu: the “backwoods tots” which are tater tots topped with the aforementioned pork or brisket as well as onion, sweet jalapeño mustard, pickles, and coleslaw. They’ve got some of their own beers on tap which are solid.

A player who isn’t getting…

A player who isn’t getting drafted after 4 or 5 seasons likely won’t be getting drafted after returning for a 5th or 6th year either. Some guys just want to start the next stage of their lives and get their non football careers started.

As was

As was Shea’s back in the day

I think there’s some maize…

I think there’s some maize and blue blinders on. He definitely struggled to read zone defenses during his time here and Kurt in this video even finds man defenses against which JJ doesn’t read fast enough or hesitates with the ball or has issues with technique (I think because we won the natty and went undefeated we forget about some of his throws he airmailed or threw behind receivers during the dogfight stretches of the OSU, Bama, and Washington games to wide open receivers that you just can’t miss in the NFL). He would be best served by sitting for at least a year or two behind a veteran QB

As much as I love JJ, this…

As much as I love JJ, this would be a fireable offense for Brad Holmes. They’ve got a window right now and so many needs on defense that they have to go CB or DL in the 1st round over a developmental QB.
