Understand that not everyone is going to stay/be retained, but keeping the one that the guys will spend the most time with this off-season is huge in easing the transition.
For division, Michigan needs to beat OSU and win at least 2 of the next 3 games. Assuming wins against Indiana and Rutgers, the UM-PSU game only implications is for playoffs.
Actually, if you get the ball down 14 with about 6 minutes left. Drive down, get 7, get a 3 & out, and get the ball back with 1:50 (ish) left, that is pretty good. They had enough time to get down and tie it, just can’t handle a stunt. I think a more seasoned offense may have been able to save a couple seconds per play on the 2nd to last Drive, but all that changes is a fumble with 2 minutes left for ND to run out the clock. With a new QB and our oline, I feel that that drive had the appropriate pace.
The ones we only have at home (Nebraska, Ohio State, and Purdue) should be in the top half of the league, and the ones we have only on the road (Illinois, Iowa, and Rutgers) don’t concern me. Iowa can score but cannot defend at all.
To add to your point, Poole has stated that the Burke shot against Kansas was the first time he started to think of Michigan as a place to play. So, we are seeing impacts, just not as quick as we thought we might.
We may be better next year, but it is going to be hard to be more successful. School record wins, Big Tourney Champs, and Finals appearance - that is a hell of a year.
When you are facing a team like that it is not uncommon to physically and emotionally burn yourself out. I think they were playing so intense that first 10-12 minutes that they hit a bit of a wall, then, stop me if you have heard this before, a guy comes off the bench and torches us at the end of the first half of the championship game.
I think we will offensively be a better team, but I do think we will regress on defense since we may be getting a lot younger, if the freshmen coming in live up to the hype.
It is very difficult for a freshman PG to come right in and run Beilein’s offense. Z is the starter day one. Who knows what it will look like at the end of the year.
We got a puncher’s chance and we only have to beat them once.
Villanova tonight was basically us against Texas A&M. We need them to come down to earth a bit and we need to obviously shoot better, but I am telling you there is a chance.
Well this is awkward, I bet $1000 on a Loyola and Michigan making it to the Final Four. Been a good tourney, also had $1000 on Virginia going down to the 16. Also, feeling good on my bet on the finals, but I can’t tell you more detail until around 11-12 Monday night.
Agree - seems to me that most players that do just “test the waters” make some statement similar to testing be waters/getting feedback/etc. it just state I am declaring.
Either way, not really worried about Ward going or staying.
My question doesn’t deserve own thread, but hockey related, so I will drop it here.
Just started following college hockey after I was lucky enough to go to a game at Yost. Why is there almost two weeks in between advancing to the Frozen 4 and the actual Frozen 4. Is that normal or is it to avoid conflicts with basketball’s Final 4?
They probably would just forfeit both teams. Cancel the other game and just tell Kansas and Nova to show up Monday night for the championship game. Then they would probably end up suing the schools for lost revenue.
And based on reactions to peaceful protests, a large portion of the fanbase would blame the players for costing them a championship.

Never underestimate how quickly Brian Kelly will throw his players under the bus
It’s not about the playoffs, it’s about the $$$
Understand that…
Great news.

So, you’re saying this is good news, very good news! Recruiting is looking very good so far.

Need as many big boys in the middle as possible next week, can’t get worn down
And Nebraska is in trouble
FYI - if anyone is looking for a hotel room for this weekend, I just cancelled mine at Hilton Garden Inn at Briarwood
I think they may have a couple rooms open, but at least one for sure.
Just in case anyone is looking for a room last minute.
No, all non-conference games (especially now that there are only 3 of them) should all be home games
Look at the positive, we don’t have to watch anymore games on NBC
Yeah, the announcers were over selling it

Damn. I went to Bettendorf. Was hoping to see him play for Michigan.
Based on what I have read about this kid so far today, this isn’t a 3*.

And man, that was a great first 10 minutes.
That Nova team is all time scary.

Guess it will be spread out to basketball/basketball then hockey/hockey the next weekend.
Probably better for my health anyways, last weekend almost killed me.
