Poole -- half-time hero

Submitted by PeteM on

Loved reading about Jordan Poole going around the locker room at half-time talking to and firing up Robinson, Rahk, Matthews, Zavier and Moe.  Most 18-year-old freshman would be hesistant to try to take over a room full of guys with a lot more experience, but I'm guessing that Poole was oblivious to that.  I also thought his 6 points in the 2nd were significant to us getting back in the game, and that he just looked relaxed when it seemed like the rest of the team was struggling:

Poole is so much to this team and the future for the program. Him getting to the basket and the line in the second half helped put the game away. Jordan has not made his last 3 this tournament either. Book it.

That's outstanding!!!  Poole is going to play a huge role next year, maybe as a starter, maybe off the bench.  But he'll be a leader on the team helping to keep everyone focused.  This is the kind of player that makes Beilein look soo good - the kind of player that is moldable, exciteable, and just plain good.

on Monday, especially if MAAR continues to struggle with his shot. Don't get me wrong, we still need MAAR to get the majority of the minutes because of his experience, leadership, ball handling, speed, and especially defense, but jPoole gives a different look on offense without sacrificing much of anything MAAR brings other than experience. And even then, jPoole seems fearless.

Defensively, we need three things to happen: 1. Z needs to contain Brunsen and make life difficult for him; 2. Charles needs to take their Energizer Bunny, DeVicenzo, out of his comfort zone; and 3. Livers/Robinson has to keep Paschal from launching a barrage of uncontested threes. It would also be great if we can turn this into a primarily "in the paint" game. Nova can lose games. Just keep it close and make them feel the pressure late.

Poole’s energy is so contagious, the team really feeds off of it!! He’s really gonna have a few special years in AA! With the class coming in next year the future is bright!! Thnx for being you Jordan!

I think it was clear to Poole that when he got in in the 2nd half that we needed a spark. Mathews had success with his athletism in the 1st, taking people off the dribble and Poole did the same. I loved him taking some authority! That got us in the crowd going and sparked the team. Didn't know about the halftime talk til just now but I love seeing his play follow his halftime talk. What a leader!

has more heart than I can imagine. It's been such a joy watching this run.  They are the living definition of a team - every game someone different seems to step up and make the plays that spark the rest of the team.
