I flipped over during commercials and the scoring doesn't tell the story of this game.

Alabama was up 24 to 3 (maybe 6?) for a good chunk of the game. Arkansas could not move against them most of the first half. Arkansas' QB is not a capable passer at all.

While Alabama's QB is very much hit or miss, the biggest issue is the OL. Arkansas was consistently getting pressure on Milroe. Alabama couldn't run much against them in the first half either. Arkansas added two scores in the fourth to make it look much closer than it was.

Summary: Alabama's defense is still very good. The offense is struggling. They probably win the SEC West, maybe they beat Georgia in the SEC championship to make the playoff, but this is not the Bama teams of old.

There's so much inertia in the rankings.  Georgia has looked very mediocre in several games this year while Michigan continues to dominate.  Based on performance alone, there's no reason to keep Georgia #1. That being said, Michigan still hasn't played any tough competition and rankings are pretty meaningless at this point.

I don't think voters will move Georgia out of the top spot until they almost lose.

That said, if UM goes into Happy Valley and convincingly takes care of business, and Georgia continues its string of meh games...I think they voters will have lots to consider.

Not worth getting too excited about until the end of the season however.

Georgia can afford to almost lose and not fall below us because they're SEC and defending champs.  Plus, even though they have slept walked through 3-4 games, they blew out Kentucky and the media hasn't stopped pleasuring themselves over that, even though Kentucky got blown out yesterday by Missouri.

But otherwise, I agree that it's nothing to lose sleep over.  Just need to keep winning.

In 1997, Nebraska, the number 1 team, almost lost to Missouri on the same day Michigan put a whipping on Penn State in Happy Valley. That weekend, Michigan hopped Nebraska for first place in the AP and never ceded their top ranking the test of the year. So there is a precedent for dropping out of first when almost losing.

As good as we've looked, other teams have quality wins that surpass our resume. I think we've looked better than anyone but Washington and OU also have blown out near everyone except the top 10 teams they beat. So...2 is cool. UGA shouldn't be 1 but it'll work out by CFP time.

All of these current rankings are good for discussions, but it all comes down to which teams - UM, PSU and OSU - are playing the best when they face each other. Should be some great games

I can see a scenario where we could become #1 after we beat Ohio if we do so in convincing fashion again. But then have GA take it back because the SEC west champ will definitely be better than the BIG west champ
