Why doesn’t Blake have a shield and what can we do about it at this point? His resume speaks for itself regarding his “All-American caliber” play, and I won’t be able to sleep tonight knowing he’s not riding off into the sunset with a NC trophy AND a FFFF shield. Please help.

paraphrasing: Time of possession is almost irrelevant to this defense, so long as they can force field goals (cites the OSU vs Stroud games). Every possession then becomes critical to score, and offenses start to press. That’s when Michigans D shows their teeth.
I felt like the play by Graham on 2nd and goal set the tone for what was about to transpire. He absolutely obliterated that play before it ever had a chance. Turning second and goal from the nine into 3rd and goal from the 14 changed the entire complexion of overtime.

There are 133 division one football teams. Of those teams, how many of them have a position group that one would you take over Michigans if trying to win National Championships and put kids into the NFL?
D-line: zero. RB: zero. Offensive Line: maybe 3 or 4. QB: Probably 2 or 3. Secondary: Probably 2 or 3. LBs: Maybe 3. Special teams: (scared to actually include this after yesterday…but besides that whole thing…)
That’s six/seven position groups that rank in the top 3% of all of college football. I’d say we’re elite in a lot of places, and really fucking great across the board.
Dead on! What Brian and Seth give us is way more than any fan could expect from a fan site; however, if either of them had the chops to call a better game than Harbaugh/Moore/et all, I’m sure they’d jump at the ~$1.2M salary the OC position offers.
This is an awful take. The entire program had been going through it for an entire season and Sherrone was shoved into the spotlight on less than 24 hours notice. The biggest moment of his career (to date), against a quality opponent, with all eyes on him, and we saw all those stressors come pouring out.
I (and I think I can speak for many) loved the emotion he showed in that moment. Some guys stick a whistle in their mouth and jump around in a circle, while others care so deeply about the mission and the program that they’re moved to tears upon realizing some success. Give me the guy that cares every time. The leadership and poise he demonstrated during that stretch will forever be ingrained in this teams story, and the fact that he was so emotional about it makes me respect him even more.
Was this the one on Sirius/XM? It was either with McElroy or maybe backed up to McElroys show. Either way, agreed, Packer was great. Forgot about him until this comment.
Iowa’s defense isn’t exactly a unit that one puts on a show against either. That defense likely hurts his stock significantly more than even a good showing against them could help it.
This is a pretty soft take. We don’t know what makes up “a heated exchange” in this instance, but if things didn’t get physical I don’t see an issue. Communication in locker rooms and playing fields is 99% yelling, and it shouldn’t be a surprise that coach’s/players sometimes lose sight of when the yelling is appropriate and when it is not. If this were just a screaming match, move on.
Somewhere along the lines the narrative became “we couldn’t throw against Penn State”, when in reality, we just realized that we could lean on our big boys up front and move the chains with consistency. Penn State knew exactly what we were going to do every play in the second half, and there wasn’t a damn thing they could do about. That’s a sign of an absolutely incredible line.
“Struggled” is pretty disingenuous. 13-0 and #1 in the country doesn’t happen with an o-line that is “struggling”. The o-line hasn’t lived up to what we’ve become accustomed to over the past few years, but I can name ~125 other D1 programs that would kill to have our offensive line.
There were never any 2.5’s at big books. I know the articles (like this one) that are looking for storylines are using 2.5 to paint their picture, but there’s not an amateur on the planet that has a 2.5 either way. 2’s were available, but even those disappeared rather quickly. Very few books show a 1 now, and I’d be willing to bet that this ends at UM -1/1.5. If sharps were going to move heavy on Bama, it would’ve already happened. This slow trickle will likely never move it ~3 points, and very unlikely it’ll move through as big of a number as the ML
The line not moving is proof that none of the sharpest books love Alabama nearly as much as the general public. If a sharp grouped moved on this line, the line itself would be moving along with it. The fact that it’s sat out there for 3 1/2 days likely means that a lot of groups are waiting for the public to bet it down so they can get better value on Michigan.
For me, he seemed extremely disingenuous (or possibly mendacious) while he was at UF. I was probably just associating him with a team and program with rampant issues. After witnessing his life’s work since, I could not have been more wrong.

IIRC, they still had McNamara and All for that game as well. Their offense likely won’t be able to cross the 50, and our offense will simply have too many opportunities. I love the over, and if I had to pick a side, I’d lay the points.
Floridas run defense is atrocious. For perspective, they’re one spot better than Indiana and 10 spots worse than MSU in rushing yards allowed on the year

This. Get JJ out of the pocket and let him create. The Loveland TD example Klatt used in the video is prime JJ being JJ. If given opportunities to create like that, he will make defenses pay 100% of the time. Make them choose which way they want to lose, stop Blake/Edwards or JJ on the ground, they can’t do both.

I haven’t watched a ton of Clemson this year, but every game I have seen, he’s been running for his life while his WRs get zero separation.
