I am a huge believer in freedom of speech, a position which is not popular at American universities today. So it's bizarre that those supporting disruptive, threatening and illegal behavior today are supposedly in favor of "freedom of speech." None of our freedoms are absolute or unlimited. They are limited when they infringe on the freedoms of others. In this case, the speech and actions of protesters illegally infringed on the freedom of others to enjoy a graduation ceremony. That's why they were wrong and should be disciplined. It is very different from the heroism of Rosa Parks.
Awesome. Coach May is quickly building a solid roster. If/when Vlad Goldin officially commits, we are up to 10 on the roster with 3 open spots left. It looks like we need some quality forwards, hopefully with some experience. A recommit from Rooths would be fantastic and then maybe another forward from the transfer portal. What forwards are available and likely to consider Michigan?
Given his pedigree and rankings, he looks like a fantastic addition to the class. He doesn't look like a one and done but is moving up the rankings and has great upside.
It looks like we have a 7 foot plus center ready to commit and now another son of an NBA star in the Beilein tradition. We also look likely to add a number of top transfer players to complete a basically full roster this coming year.
All of these players will be coached by a young, inspiring and energetic coach who already coached a team to the Final Four.
I'm getting excited about Michigan basketball again.
Coach May obviously wants him here and must see great potential. So this is very good news. This last year was an unfortunate mess and not helpful in evaluating his talent.
DM has 6 years of HC experience at a school which he elevated from nothing to respectability and then to the NCAA tourney the last two years. That is a good amount of HC experience not "very little." And it's no longer just a "small no-name school" after his accomplishments there. Moreover, he did it the right way by coaching fundamentals and building a team without a bunch of one and done 5 stars. Yes, it's not clear whether he can continue that success at Michigan without an ultra long track record at a very top school. But a coach with that type of record is rare and wasn't available. In DM's case, he's still young with a much higher upside than downside.
A fitting ending, another loss, another game I didn't watch on the second rate 'Cock channel. What a travesty. The worst Michigan basketball team in my lifetime. And Michigan is trying to scrape a few extra dollars from their fans to watch this terrible team.
I've been a lifelong avid Michigan basketball fan and now I just don't care anymore.
This is the worst men's basketball team at Michigan in more than 60 years, the second worst ever. It will likely only be worse next year. They were even worse than their final record since they declined over the course of the season. Based on the incoming class and departures, the talent will be even less. Juwan will not learn how to coach fundamentals in one off season. His teams have been worsening every year for several seasons. And then there's his anger management problems with several serious incidents.
I love him but Juwan needs to go. He just isn't a good college basketball coach. Ideally, Juwan will be persuaded to resign. It would be a favor to him and the entire program. He could cite health reasons and he might still have a future coaching in the NBA.
It still hurts. Michigan was the true champion - the best team on the court but beaten by the refs. And Louisville vacated their title due to cheating.
Michigan should be recognized by the NCAA as national champions that year.
And there's probably no version of the events that's favorable to Juwan. Given his past incidents, he should not have gotten into a heated altercation with Sanderson. Any disagreement should have been handled privately and quietly.
If the email description of the incident is accurate (and there were apparently witnesses present), Juwan should have been dismissed. I would tend to believe the word of a longtime employee like Sanderson who had no prior incidents, especially since Juwan has had a couple incidents of poor anger control.
I really liked Juwan but he should have been removed already based on conduct issues and performance. On the court, it's been a several year decline and there's no prospect for improvement next year unless a miracle happens. The team is unwatchable. Warde definitely needs to make a change after this season at the latest. If he fails to do so, we need an AD change too.
It's baffling that the scumbags running the NCAA are judge and jury on Michigan and Harbaugh. What they did to Aaliya is a million times worse than alleged sign stealing.
I just turned it on out of morbid curiosity. They turned a 15 point lead into an 8 point deficit against a terrible Rutgers team at home. Turnover after turnover.
These announcers are terrible. That was a blatant defensive PI BEFORE the interception - the announcer is saying the opposite while it was clearly being shown on the replay. Unbelievable.
I'm still rooting for this team although I haven't watched a game for a few weeks. I might tune into this one out of morbid curiosity since it's on regular tv.
Honestly though, I probably won't be really interested in basketball again unless there's a change in head coaches. I love Howard but he's not getting it done. It's not just about wins and losses. He has trouble recruiting and retaining the right talent and coaching fundamentals. It's painful to watch this team.
Literally you flat out reject some of his words which are as clear as day and embrace other words which are arguably open for interpretation. You do all of this to fit your own preferred narrative. You're wrong. That's not me.
But it's irrelevant. I share MLK's "dream" for everybody and celebrate this day with a hope for that dream.
I don't expect to change your mind either. You are free to disagree.

Well said. Inappropriate character assassination seems to be a popular pastime here.

Stewart? Who's Stewart? Sean Stewart?

A great hire with huge potential
It's a trashy headline. Sadly, it's not surprising for the Daily.
Well said. The same argument applies to some others who are regularly maligned on this blog.
Sad. I would have preferred a resignation.
Juwan just isn't a good college basketball coach. I wish him success in his next endeavor. He may still have a future coaching in the pros.
I never understood hiring outside firms to do the job of highly paid administrators or executives. What a waste.

Agreed although technically, it was a slap not a punch. Not that it should
matter.

He didn't fail at Cleveland. Cleveland failed him.
No points in the last 7 minutes
Season high 22 turnovers
Trying to find a silver lining, lol
Looks like they won the 2nd half so far
…
They won. Unbelievable.
Happy Birthday, Juwan.

Simply horrible.
I love Howard but we need a new coach.
On and off the field, Jim Harbaugh will be a tough act to follow.
Rooted for the Ravens and Lions.
Ravens choked.
Lions are choking.
I still can't believe he didn't kick that FG to tie it.
Would have been nice to have that FG. Campbell's decision making is ridiculous.
I don't understand that decision. Is their FG kicker not very good?
Goff seems to be throwing well. Not sure about his receivers right now.
Choke job. The Chiefs played well but the Ravens probably shoulda won a close game.
Yeah, I looked at it again. You're right.
Yeah. Terrible decision. It was a blatant PI as well though. Shoulda been called.
These announcers are terrible. That was a blatant defensive PI BEFORE the interception - the announcer is saying the opposite while it was clearly being shown on the replay. Unbelievable.
I'm not buying the roughing the passer penalty. Questionable.
The Ravens are giving this game away.

Michigan is very bad at basketball.
And it's on Peacock.
I will not watch.
They've made 7 more 3 pointers than OSU and still trail by 1. 😂
And as expected, there are some here who reject MLK's words. That's disappointing.
As expected,…
Well said.
As expected, there is the pushback basically asserting that he didn't really mean what he said.
No Dug for six road games. Sheesh. And I thought the season was already looking terrible.
My late uncle was Jimmy Harbaugh's teacher and coach in junior high. I'm sure he's smiling up in heaven seeing him finally win it all.
Herbstreit is so annoying
At least we gained field position
Another run into the line. Wtf
Three runs in a row. That's not going to do it.
Three runs in a row. That's not going to do it.
Now the offense needs to capitalize
