Michigan football mysteries
What are some of the biggest lingering football mysteries surrounding the football program? Not who the starters/transfers will be, but unexpected events that have remained unexplained.
Here's a few that I think about occasionally:
- What "cyber crime" did OC Matt Weiss commit that prompted FBI involvement?
- Why did Mike Hart depart the team?
- Why exactly was Sherrone Moore suspended for the East Carolina game in 2023?

Who is funding TacoPants? Is he a plant for the Russians?
April 12th, 2024 at 10:26 AM ^
Iranian separatist but both the Russians and Chinese are funneling money his way.

Funny, I would have guessed a Tex-Mex partnership.
I blame Hotel Putingrad
He’s got 5,000 guys holed up in the Ural Mountains who do nothing but flood social media with misinformation, conspiracy theories and outright lies. So hell yes I blame him.
More likely 500,000.....

Why doesn't the stadium have usable WiFi?
April 12th, 2024 at 12:11 PM ^
Inquiring minds want to know this one!!!
Or will the WiFi they are putting in the year really work

Who paid off the refs in the TCU game?

Did Les Miles bang Moeller wife?
Gattis and X / Dudek situation
Najee Harris real story?
Mazi Smith and 25 extra rounds?
How much weed did the Fab5 smoke?
Kelly Baraka story?
Did JH ever speak to Mr. Ross about coming to Miami vs. Michigan?
cheers

While Baraka was astonishing as an all-time great recruiting flop, hasnt he been pretty clear on what happened?
April 12th, 2024 at 11:21 AM ^
Yeah, there’s zero mystery there with respect to Michigan. It IS interesting that he never got a look anywhere else, through.
April 12th, 2024 at 12:44 PM ^
Kelly Baraka was slangin and smokin...played against him, coached his son.

Mohler?
Gary Moeller? That is ancient wives tale material. Why did OJ prevent anyone from taking a phone into his deathbed hospital room, including his kids?
What I REALLY want to know is whether it’s true/who was involved with smoking weed before The Horror (aka the App State upset).
Let me translate:
Did LM bang GM's wife?
JG and XW / DM situation
NH real story?
MS and 25 extra rounds?
How much weed did the FF smoke?
KB story?
Did JH ever speak to SR about coming to UM vs. UM?
cheers

Bringing the heat!
Ahh, yes, one of the greatest mysteries of them all. Did Les Miles dip his stick in the wrong oil pan? I heard it was a huge donors wife? Will we ever know for sure?
Donor? Barely knew her.
Can believe it took this long mention Ed Martin.
And what about that early morning roll over accident on M-14 with Taylor, Traylor, Bullock and Mateen Cleaves?

Why did Shawn Collins not pan out?
Why did Bo kick to Rocket a second time?
Where was Spartan Bob's other hand while he manipulated the clock?
Was the CIA involved in development and distribution of whatever psychotropic is being dispensed to cause young football players to continue to commit to and play for that satanic cult in Columbus?
April 12th, 2024 at 10:21 AM ^
Where was Spartan Bob's other hand while he manipulated the clock?
Running the "Mel Tucker" play.
Captain of the ‘hands’ team…
Speaking of Mel Tucker and spartie, would anyone really want to eat a pizza delivered by either one of them? 🤢
April 12th, 2024 at 10:43 AM ^
"Why did Bo kick to Rocket a second time?"
Because the expectation is for the position. https://mgoblog.com/mgoboard/revisiting-expectation-position
I have my own question: How much would it cost to tilt all of the Michigan Stadium rows up at least ten degrees to give everyone better sight lines?
Two great ones there. Sparty spanky Bob and why oh why did we kick to Rocket again?
How would the trajectory of M football be different today?
A coworker at the time and good friend was at the spartan bob clock game. He told me the clock was manipulated during the whole last drive. Who knows how much time was actually added. The icing on the cake was him stopping it at one second to allow the final play.
Conversely the stupid late hit out of bounds by a UM defensive back kept the drie alive, enabling bob to do his magic.
Read Bacon's "Bo's Lasting Lessons".
Bo said do not kick to him but let an assistant talk him out of it.
The point of the anecdote is the buck stops with the head coach.
Do not throw an assistant under the bus.

How on earth did Michigan beat Penn State , Ohio state , Alabama and Washington without their signs ?
April 12th, 2024 at 12:12 PM ^
Don't forget Michigan State! LOL
April 12th, 2024 at 12:17 PM ^
UM could have diagrammed the plays for MSU and still beaten them.
How bout, what is the status of the investigations? There's still 2 ongoing right? Oddly the NCAA doesn't seem to be leaking anything these days. Are they going to wait until 3 days before the Texas game to announce punishments? All mysteries to me.
For the crime of the century and all any dipshit could whine about for 3 weeks it sure got "poof" - fart in the wind status pretty quick after PSU.
I do think it's funny how CMU still hasn't been able to confirm or deny who that Connor Stallions-looking MFer was on their sidelines. Seemingly nobody really cares to keep pushing on that publicly, which I assume it partly because Ryan Day...I mean Pete Thamel's sources don't have any dirt on that situation.
April 12th, 2024 at 10:13 AM ^
Was that really C.S. on the CMU sideline?
April 12th, 2024 at 10:22 AM ^
Right. There are only two questions. One is how has CMU not resolved publicly if it was or was not CS?
Secondly, what PI firm gave the NCAA sign gate info and who hired them?
April 12th, 2024 at 10:40 AM ^
Man if JUB ever writes a book about last season and actually gives us all the answers I will be the first to buy it. Between burgers/covid visits, Stallions, CMU in kahoots, Warde, the national media campaign to end Michigan for good, Ryan Day and the firm, Weiss, Partridge, a pear tree, coaching suspensions, 4/5 different acting head coaches for the season, OSU/Purdue having our signs and sharing them, the whole Big Ten against us, the TRO process and the regents, the binder Michigan should break seal on in case of emergency, the senior leadership to get through it all unscathed, losing the whole staff to LA, that was one crazy ass wild ride!!! Wouldn't change a single thing, resolve and knowing your innocence, beautiful!
April 12th, 2024 at 10:51 AM ^
Strong use of pear tree
April 12th, 2024 at 11:03 AM ^
JUB will write a book in order to cash in. But the book won't reveal anything other than what the program wants you to know, and will dedicate several chapters to musings by local barbers.
It will be called "Post game: Nobody Knows Anything"
Wow! What a great summary. For some it takes a diary. For you, a paragraph. Congrats!
This past season should be a 30 for 30 or a Netflix documentary, preferably not from the perspective or direction of Pete thimble
April 12th, 2024 at 10:00 PM ^
My understanding is that CMU cannot comment because the NCAA has indicated that they might want to investigate and that constitutes a gag order.
April 12th, 2024 at 10:51 AM ^
I think CMU is more embarrassed about it than us and are likely not eager to help with the investigation.
April 12th, 2024 at 10:54 AM ^
Honestly, and especially with Harbaugh gone, I think we're the only ones that actively remember this question is sitting out there unanswered, and since it's fallen off the radar, CMU is perfectly fine letting it slide into the ether...
April 12th, 2024 at 10:58 AM ^
It's actually only MSU fans that still bring it up daily. They are stunned that the FBI isn't using all its resources to get to the bottom of it. I've almost forgotten about it.
April 12th, 2024 at 11:42 AM ^
Well if MSU would stop hogging all the investigators, maybe there would be enough for them to look at other schools.
