Michigan is 23-1 when I don't watch

Submitted by gustave ferbert on March 29th, 2021 at 7:52 AM

But I eventually want to watch the games.

I don't want to DVR them lest that creates bad JuJu.

Any suggestions on how I can watch the LSU and FSU games?  Or do the rat bastards of the NCAA keep a tight lid on the copyrights?

I won't watch the rest of the tournament. . .I'm doing it for the team.  So any help would be greatly appreciated.

but have you changed your socks since the tournament started?   if you have, you're good.... watch without worry..... if you haven't.... stay the fuck away from the TV!!!!!!

Many of us feel exactly the same.  I don’t watch many games as I feel the same.  But I watched yesterday and we actually were great!  As Mitch might say here - “WATCH THE GAME!!”

I am also superstitious, and have been very busy this year.  I normally get dressed up in all of my gear from head to toe for games.  From the bottom of my Go Blue Jordans to the top of my Nike hat.

This year I haven't had the time to put that much effort in, and in fact the 4 times that I have they lost.  So for the rest of the season (Hopefully 3 more games) I am just wearing the hat with my normal everyday clothes.  I am also watching on my iPad since the 2 games I have watched on an actual TV this year have been Ls.

Watch it in a mirror. That way, you're technically not watching "the game" - you're watching the game's reflection.

But if they lose, it's all on you, and you will carry a curse for all eternity.

No pressure.

Not gonna lie...I tested one of my superstitions with the LSU game. Had a Michigan sweatshirt that I deemed unlucky. Decided to wear it anyway because I was sick of the superstition...luckily we won. I wore it again for FSU for food measure.

I'm not superstitious at all, so I don't get your concern.  The fact that the only game preview article I read this year was the Minnesota loss has nothing to do with the fact that I'm still not reading game preview articles.

I think I can speak for all of us when I say we appreciate the sacrifice you are making. Stay away from the TV.

Please don't. Mental strength, determination and teamwork got the Wolverines this far...continue to do your part. Thank you.

For what its worth, at least you wont be tired Wednesday.

I feel terrible for your plight.   Would watching a livestream of someone else's livestream or TV broadcast negate this scenario?

Another point to consider.  I noticed that my comments on Sunday's MGoBlog game open thread were slightly delayed compared to others.   It's possible that my YTTV feed was slightly delayed, so perhaps I wasn't watching the game in real time.   Under those circumstances, I technically wasn't watching the game live.  Maybe that setup will work for you and the greater good.

(Serious answer...just watch the games however you can.  Enjoy the ride and know that your private life has no effect on the game outcome!).

Come on man, just watch the games. You watching the games have no effect on what happens what so ever. The idea stems from the fact that we want to believe that we are more important and have a larger effect on the world than we actually do. So instead of trying to follow a farcicle idea of relevance just realize that nothing any of us do will effect the outcome of the game and enjoy the shows! That being said if anyone on this blog touches the banner I will SHIV A MODERATOR. (Sorry Rob)

Can neither prove nor disprove it. Maybe it's the unexplainable vibes some of us get or send. I say; do whatever works.

Obviously, us fans really have no affect on the game. Some of us, and me too, have these quirky hang-ups. Past three tournament games, I've listen to Michigan on IMG local radio and it's working great. Of course, that could change...let's not go there.

I have the same problem.  I watch, they lose.

I tuned into yesterday's game with 4 minutes left and we were up by about 20.   I momentarily considered turning it off as I didn't want to cause an epic 2nd half collapse, but watched it to the end.

I may have jinxed the next game though.

On Hulu, I have it set to dvr all of Michigan’s games (even the tournament games) and was able to watch the LSU game the next day. I would suggest that if you have something like Hulu.

Is there something you can do to yourself to cause yourself discomfort while you watch? Do you own a hairshirt, for example? If not, can you put broken glass in a jock strap and watch that way? Or watch with your feet in an ice bath and a clamp of some sort on your testicles? That's the only way I'm afraid.

Hahahaha

I understand your pain!  I've watched 4 games, this year.  You guessed it....every one of Michigan's losses.  The running joke in my house is how I'm not allowed to watch the games.  Lol

I have to look at the ESPN app "score updates".  ?

This is what my mother-in-law texted me, yesterday.

"Sooo I guess you didnt watch the game..."

Conversely, one of my baseball players is an FSU fan and said FSU was 9-0 when he sat in his lucky chair. Well, we played yesterday during the game and he couldn’t sit in the chair.

i am in this same boat.  my wife even reminds me not to turn it on, because if i notice the score on my phone, and flip the tv, invariably our lead starts to diminish.

i tend to keep ESPN app up on my phone and just glance at it every 10-15 minutes.  then i watch highlights afterward

keep the faith, and keep the tv on love boat reruns

I briefly read through the responses so this may have already been listed... just look at the CBS sports channel listings for the middle of the night... it should list the game as a replay... it won't tell you what teams but it does have the full game minus half time... I just watched the UM/FSU game... they had our game and the UCLA/Bama game on replay last night...

I don't watch an entire Michigan BB game. Partly because they go into a slump when I tune in, partly because of certain play-by-play announcers (Dickie V and Raftery) and partly for annoying dumb TV commercials. I listen to our IMG guys on radio. It's worked well since the NCCA tournament began for Michigan.

I saw 4 to 4 yesterday then switched to radio and sure enough, our guys kept building their lead. I will do me and all of you folks a favor; I'll listen to the radio play-by-play tomorrow night and hopefully, beyond-No problem. (we all have our superstitions)
