2019 Verbal Commit, QB Cade McNamara, Considered "Best Guy There" at Elite 11 Qualifier Camp
Cade McNamara had a good showing at the camp. This is what he had to say:
"The [Student Sports staff] pulled me aside halfway through and told me I was the best guy there....."
He's currently rated a 4 Star, and the #258 2019 prosect. I am certain his rank is going to rise, probably to the Top 150, by summer's end, maybe even the Top 100.
He has an impressive offer sheet, including Alabama, Georgia, Notre Dame (he decommitted from Notre Dame just before committing to Michigan), USC, Wisconsin, and Tennessee. I'm sure that not only is that list going to grow, but the intensity to get him to flip away from Michigan will grow too.

This could be telling.
what?
what?
...and wrong, recruits have thrown exactly 30 less passes in the Harbaugh era than transfers and most of those attempts weren't even his recruits.
Even if Patterson adds to that lead this year, not sure the program would be fortunate enough to get another experienced, no wait, ready-to-play tranfer after getting 2 in four years.
But they basically added a 5* recruit to the 2015 class, and mitigated a little of the disappointment of the '18.
This is likely (as it stands today) the QBs over the next 4 seasons or so: Patterson, McCaffrey, McNamara.
The QB that likely won't get snaps is Joe Milton.
Maybe that's why Sam Webb has seen Milton lining up in RPO/Wildcat type plays. He may be that type of player at Michigan, and not a full time starting pocket passer.
But let's wait and see.
I know someone will say, "Hey, give Milton a chance". In saying what I am saying, I am giving all QBs a chance. What I see from McNamara looks really good. I see he has a real shot at being a full time starting QB in college.
But again, let's wait and see.
Who cares about pre-2015? The players and coaches are all different now. 2 of the past 3 years, the pass pro and pass offense has been pretty good.
Seems odd to cherry pick the RichRod and Hoke years as an indictment on Harbaugh. Offensive line issues were a big problem under Hoke. They improved under Harbaugh over the first two seasons but regressed last year when he didn't have any tackles to speak of, and an offensive line coach that was too wound up trying to protect his turf as offensive coordinator.
It doesn't really matter what one says or does, as I'm sure you'll still be unhappy.
How did this become a discussion of the last decade? You just threw that out there. Talking about the last 3 seasons isn't cherry picking. It actually has some relevance, although less than the next 4 seasons. That's something that gets talked about in recruiting.
Because I don't care about teams that were coached by head coaches that are not currently our head coach. That seems pretty obvious.
And our running game is pretty nice right now. S&P adjusts for opponent and our run offense and run blocking are top 20 in many categories. I guess it's popular to just bag on the OL indiscriminately, but it's not always warranted. Last year was our first year being really bad in pass pro under Harbaugh, and it was also our first year being really solid in the run game under Jim.
Or maybe by the time he gets here we won't be starting 3 Frosh OL. Experience is a wonderful thing at OL.
For playing in front of idiot fans like yourself.
-Experienced QBs don't "run for their lives"; they deftly avoid the first man and keep their head up to find an open receiver. (Helps A LOT if they have practice making SEC talent "miss"!)
-I feel good about a big improvement in the Oline; because it is the unit which needs to work together as a group, and a strong group takes takes strong leadership, and that IMO is the key ingredient the Oline has missed the last 5 or 6 years.
Why I'm I so confident? Three words: All Hail Cesar!
As in: Cesar Ruiz!
He has already shown in his efforts with the 2017 recruiting class and getting Shea to come here, that he is a much better leader than the past few years.
he looks to be constantly moving out of the pocket.
Dude has the perfect Friday Night Lights name
I was thinking something similar, just that he sounds like a QB at UCLA. (Probably beacuse of Cade McNown).
4*, Harbs can't recruit like OSU. Kid isn't even top #250., blah, blah, blah...
I'm clearly joking, but am sadly expecting this to come up.
we always have to brace for commenters like that.
His highlights show he's better than #258.
