Stewart Mandel: Michigan sold their souls when they hired Harbaugh
"Our friends at Michigan when they hired Jim Harbaugh sold their souls. There was nobody more ciritical of the SEC and oversigning and pulling scholarship offers than Michigan fans. They hired Jim Harbaugh. That's what Jim harbaugh does. But they're happy with the results."
Hard to believe this dipshit gets paid for his college football analysis when he can't even take two seconds to look at a depth chart. He and Teddy Greenstein probably use each others asses as hand warmers. Ole Miss sold their souls. Baylor sould their souls. The audacity of this guy to suggest something like this is astounding to me.
Your quote could very easily be applied to the Alabama fanbase. So...
Hey, I used to have that Marx/Lennon poster hanging in my dorm room in West Quad back in '69. (Actually, it was also the cover to the Firesign Theater's second album -- "How Can You Be In Two Places At Once, When You're Not Anywhere At All"). You must be an old fuck like me.
Why would anyone read anything Stewart Mandel says?
Except maybe Paul Finebaum...
He said it on his podcast.
In that case, why would anyone LISTEN to anything Stewart Mandel says??
you spelled "Pete" wrong...
It's spelled A-S-S
It is Flamebaum, thank you very much.
I thought I was the only one who did that? Next thing, you are all going to tell me you also sacrificed 100 goats to the ancient Babylonian god Marduk
I LOVE Stewart Mandel. He is amazing on "America's Got Talent". He is a fantastic comedian. His sister, Barbara, is on Hell of a singer too.
he was great on st elsewhere too
And isn't it about time we get his brother Nelson out of jail?
Mandel says:
Our friends at Michigan when they hired Jim Harbaugh sold their souls. There was nobody more ciritical of the SEC and oversigning and pulling scholarship offers than Michigan fans. They hired Jim Harbaugh. That's what Jim Harbaugh does. But they're happy with the results."
So Jim Harbaugh hires Jim Harbaugh?
Also, Mandel has friends at Michigan?
I am so very confused.
It's a Mark Twain quote, I believe.
I thought Al Gore created the internet.

Or, don't get into a picking contest with a buzzard!
The writers at pennlive implied that Michigan sold it's soul to get Jim Harbaugh before the Penn State game in October. Sam Webb had probably the most hysterical rant about it on WTKA the following morning that I have ever heard. The podcast of that should be saved forever.
I assume most people think that way because, as we've learned over this year, organizing satellite camps and climbing a tree puts you on the level of Hitler.
Lots of people mad Michigan is acting like the heavyweight it is.
That is all.

I think we pulled 1 scholarship offer and Harbaugh took some heat from Michigan fans on that.
Oversigning is something that the NCAA doesn't enforce. Sure I don't like it but unless the NCAA decides to enforce it you are putting yourself at a disadvantage by not doing it. Is that slimy? Yes. But to me the NCAA has basically nullified that rule.
Michigan isn't oversigning. Not even close.
There were 28 kids in our signing class last year.
Isn't that more than the 25 per year you are allowed?
Do you remember an over-signing shit storm last year?
Exactly.
Don't you think he deserves an explanation? He's likely to continue believing that 28 is more than 25 and therefore it was oversigning unless you explain about back dating signees to the previous class and the B1G rule limiting you to signing 28, which, of course, is less than 30.
A reply of "No." isn't very helpful.
Good point. I had forgot about that.
As long as you make the 85 you are allowed whatever. I believe it was 2014 and 2015 the classes were only like 15 and 16. That is why we have taken bigger classes to make up for the small ones. We had one issue with swenson, but I am gald Mr. Entitlement is gone and he was not a Harbaugh recruit anyways. Because of attrition you have to oversign to some degree.
the pulling scholarships is b.s. too. When Coach explained his side of the story, Swenson was given opportunities to show the staff what he could do and chose not to. They were concerned he wasn't developing, and based on Hoke's O-line recruiting/talent evaluation, that's very believable.
Of course, some will argue that telling a recruit late in the cycle you aren't interested isn't fair. Coach acknowledged he could've done a better job communicating, but this isn't close to what SEC coaches do with oversigning, phantom medical diagnoses, and pulling of scholarships when a player shows up on campus (there was one player at LSU that showed up and was told he'd have to greyshirt).
