Trente Jones-high ankle sprain?
When Jones went out, it looked really bad. I’ve been waiting for an update and haven’t seen anything, so I searched and found this:
https://saturdaytradition.com/michigan-football/jim-harbaugh-updates-ou…
It’s certainly not definitive, but would be better news than something that was torn. I’m guessing there hasn’t been any other updates from the Michigan side of things?

Correct

It looked bad. Assume it is still a significant sprain and will keep him out for quite a while. But, maybe he gets back at the end of the season?

Yeah when I saw it my first thought was a blown out knee. Not quite to the level Newome had, but legs are not supposed to bend like that.
Guess that knee brace saved him.

Was thinking the same thing about the knee brace. Thank God for that!

When he got carted off, I assumed his season was over. He got rolled up on pretty hard and that lower leg didn't look too good. Awesome if he can make it back.
It's good to have depth on the OL. I remember not long ago when that wasn't the case.
October 10th, 2022 at 1:57 PM ^
Thought the same. Wearing preemptive knee braces makes a whole lotta sense for OL, which I am just assume helped protect against something worse.
October 10th, 2022 at 1:51 PM ^
Well... that foot's going to have to come off.
(If true, just a high ankle sprain is *lucky* considering that he was carted off. Although... Grant Newsome walked off the field despite an injury that ended his career and darn near threatened his life. You never truly know.)

No there was definitely an update posted and Jimmy even devoted a few minutes of his presser discussing his injury and the amount of time was likely to miss.
But we were all sworn to not to tell you about it (I dont know why that is, sorry) so we havent been able to say anything about it yet.

I appreciate the snark but you have to cover your bases around here, because if someone else posted what I posted in the thousand+ posts since the game, you know it’s the end of the world.

Just bustin balls while waiting for the game post from Brian. All good!
But hey I dont know if you've heard or not but word on the street is Fred Jackson is going to coach the RBs against PSU.
I think i'll make a thread about it.

To be fair though, this is much better than the Rock / Paper / Scissors analogy this morning or yesterday's "CADE DID NOT MAKE THE TRIP TO BLOOMINGTON. HAS HE MOVED TO A DIFFERENT POST CODE?" or whatever.

He was wearing a knee brace which made me hopefully but that does not seem like a way to sprain an ankle and it does seem like a way to tear several ligaments. Hopefully I am wrong and he can be back for OSU
October 10th, 2022 at 2:23 PM ^
Yeah, that didn't look like an ankle sprain to my untrained eye. I assumed knee injury the way he was rolled up on. But I guess I'll take it.

High ankle sprains can take approximately forever to fully heal.

As I cannot upvote from Bolivia, I am required to post here and say well played sir.

Can confirm. I've been nursing what I assume was a very minor ankle sprain for nearly three months, and it barely feels better than it did in August...
October 10th, 2022 at 2:07 PM ^
if it's a high ankle sprain he will be out a long time but it won't affect his career. they heal more fully than knee stuff.
October 10th, 2022 at 2:17 PM ^
It did look very bad when it happened. But a high ankle sprain will probably have him sidelined for at least 4 weeks
October 11th, 2022 at 11:51 AM ^
If I remember correctly, I believe Bernhard also had a high ankle sprain and was out about a month.

Wonder if he can get a Med Shirt. Extra years are always good for OL. Hope he gets better soon enough to help this year, but even if not it could end up better long-term both for him and for the team.
October 10th, 2022 at 2:47 PM ^
He’s played 6 games, so no.
October 10th, 2022 at 2:55 PM ^
This a better news of the injury. Hopefully he will fully recovery by the game.

Does anyone ever have a low ankle sprain?
October 10th, 2022 at 4:37 PM ^
Low ankle, or simply, ankle sprains, are the most common. The common ankle sprain is a stretching or tearing of the ligaments that connect the fibula leg bone to the talus ankle bone. High ankle sprains involve the stretch or tearing of the ligaments that connect the fibula and tibia leg bones.

It’s been years since I’ve heard anyone’s injury identified as simply a sprained ankle. It’s always a high ankle sprain. It was about the same time people stopped having the flu and instead had “flu-like symptoms.”
October 10th, 2022 at 4:38 PM ^
I assure you they are very real. They really suck when you are in your 30s.
October 10th, 2022 at 5:22 PM ^
High ankle sprain can supposedly be treated by the "tightrope" procedure, done on Tua and Jalen Hurts and others. Seems to make it a 3-4 week recovery.
October 10th, 2022 at 8:16 PM ^
maybe, but that therapy isn't for everyone....
October 10th, 2022 at 5:26 PM ^
This is VERY fortunate for him. In real time, the injury, and his reaction to it, looked exactly like every season ending tear I've ever seen. Hope to see him back soon.
October 10th, 2022 at 8:05 PM ^
Yeah, 6-8 weeks minimum. Don’t expect him to be ready to play until after the Ohio game.
October 10th, 2022 at 8:43 PM ^
High ankle sprains can still be long-term...don't let the term "sprain" fool you.
October 10th, 2022 at 9:12 PM ^
Hope we have him back for Illinois and Ohio - we can manage (after PSU) with the guys who played the 2nd half vs. Indy.
October 11th, 2022 at 7:10 AM ^
I hope Trente heals up fast, he is needed. The silver lining is Barnhart is a pretty good OT rumored to be better at pass protection.
