I’m pretty sure Crosby touched it 3 times and they won the whole thing while the other team did not touch it. I’m guessing most teams will touch it nowadays.
I didn’t think the Jets would be able to get by Nashville but they have played great. Right there on the brink. Having said that, I want Las Vegas to do it. It’s been incredible for the city, especially after 1 Oct. It’s brought the city together, the people have embraced the game. I even have my sister, who is a 24 year old hipster with zero interest in any sporting event in the history of the country, texting and calling me during games. She’s caught up in the fever and has become a hockey fan for life, even watching the other games. It’s just so unbelievable that hockey, in Las Vegas of all places, is a hit.
This isn’t a hard concept. You start out owning pieces on the map (in this case, counties). Then, as you progress through the season, you win or lose territory. So as an example, when Michigan beat Florida, they owned counties in Florida (where Gainesville is). It goes through the whole season. When you lose, you lose whatever territory you won as well.
That’s ridiculous. Do you see Buffalo today? Or how about Kansas City losing to the Giants. How about the Titans on Thursday night. The Raiders can’t do anything against the Patriots. And Green Bay can’t find any offense again. The NFL isn’t college, these guys are pros, and every week is something different. The only thing that matters in the NFL is wins and losses.
1. In HS playing at Highland Park another linebacker and I were on a blitz and were about to crush the QB, we both hit him at the same time and bounced back, I temporarily was blacked out. When I came to, I asked my linebacker buddy where the QB was, he just pointed down the field. Turns out, the QB took both our hits, then scrambled for a 70 yard TD.
2. Also HS (we woulda won states if coach just put me in 4th quarter, I guarantee it), we called a Timeout on defense and our coach called us over to the sidelines. He tells us to visualize ourselves making a play, interception, scoring a td, whatever "motivating" thing he could. I was defensive end at the time. The next play, the QB drops back and the RB leaks out to my sideline, I read the play perfectly and the QB throws a high soft lob over to the RB, I step in front of it and intercept it and return it for a TD to score the game winning TD to beat our rivals who we haven't beaten in like 19 years. It was insane.
I was using saws all day so I stuck with bud lights, finished off a 12er all day and smoked some Raspberry Kush to end the night. Pretty great day in Central Oregon.
Finished 2nd in my work pool. The company is having a "ceremony" at Worthy Brewing and handing out awards and prizes. I have no idea what this entails as it's the first time they company has done it.
If you come on over to Bend, I have a man cave in the shed with 3 tvs hung on the wall, a keggerator with RPM IPA, and a good lot of some pot! It's nice living in Oregon.
Yeah he's a huge gambler, that's why he gets excited over the little things during a broadcast, the local Vegas guys would always comment on it, it was hilarious.
Las Vegas cares about football, this is a transient town with bars sprinkled throughout the valley that are "team specific". As in, let's go to the Lions bar and watch the game. There are a ton of Raider fans in Vegas, probably the 3rd biggest fan base there, behind the Cowboys and Steelers. The proposal in Oakland required Davis to give up something like 40 percent ownership to Ronnie Lotts group in order to fund the stadium, in Vegas, it's not that much. The taxes are coming from a new hotel tax, so the taxpayers aren't paying it unless they stay at one of the hotels.
It's going to be a pretty good situation for the Raiders, every game will be sold out, from tourists, the corporations, and the locals.
Don't underestimate the locals hunger for sports and Vegas is very much a "pro" sports town, like the east coast. It's going to be extremely popular. Also, the gambling aspect. It's going to be awesome. I just wish I still lived in Vegas for it.
