At least Michigan won the…

At least Michigan won the National Championship and Ohio State looked like hot garbage in their bowl game.

As long as the Chiefs and that Taylor Swift bullshit don't win, it's not THAT bad.

And Reynolds misses his block

And Reynolds misses his block

This is only partially on…

This is only partially on the coach. They had plays drawn up to win. The players choked.

Ok. Third quarter from hell,…

Ok. Third quarter from hell, but it's over. Win the fourth and go to the fucking Super Bowl!

Who's stabbing the Lions…

Who's stabbing the Lions doll somewhere?!

I don't like to put stuff on…

I don't like to put stuff on a single player, but Reynolds has single-handedly fucked this game with his drops.

Running St. Brown on 3rd was…

Running St. Brown on 3rd was the mistake, not going for it on 4th.

Seeing a lot of people who…

Seeing a lot of people who are suffering from recency bias without context. I am choosing to be thankful for the championship we just won, realizing it's possible it may not happen again for decades.

Here are the factors that contributed to our win this year:

1. Abnormal team cohesion and lack of ego, even from stars.

2. COVID year eligibility gave us a super senior team laden with experience.

3. Great coordinator hires after 2020 season that changed the feel of the team.

4. Changing of the guard at our main rival to a soft coach that thought it was his birthright to beat Michigan without effort.

5. Harbaugh is weird, but loveable. His teams love him and played for him.

Here are the possible/inevitable changes:

1. I think the culture is good and #1 above may not change. That being said, winning helps people be selfless, once losses happen, it can drive people to be more self-focused.

2. COVID year eligibilities are still a factor for underclassmen, so this may not change a whole lot, but a lot of our main contributors are heading to the next level. There is a potential drop-off (I say potential because there is a lot of younger talent).

3. If Jim leaves, I'd wager we lose multiple coordinators. This is not minor. If we found a way to retain Minter and Moore, I think we weather the storm. Minter is especially important because a great defense can keep you in games you may not deserve to be in (see: Iowa).

4. Day and OSU have already started loading up for a Hail Mary next season. They are desperate. I would love nothing more than to see them still lose due to oversights in coaching and "me" mentality instead of "team" mentality, they are embarrassed at OSU after losing to Michigan 3x in a row. They will have a singular focus.

5. Without Harbaugh, I think we lose some recruiting wins, and I genuinely think he's a good coach.

I hope for continuing dominance, but I expect a step back next season. If even to 10-2. We have a rough schedule in 2024.

That said, Go Blue! National Champs!

Appreciate the level-headed…

Appreciate the level-headed post. It's been very telling to see which of my Buckeye friends had the decency to have this type of perspective and which of them have become angry trolls over the past three years. You'd think that 20 years of dominance would have provided them with an emotional buffer, but nope, lots of venom. During the Cooper years, I was arrogant and lorded each win over my Buckeye friends, so I give them some grace and the opportunity to grow as a person. Sadly, most of them are just becoming Buckeye memes. Glad there are still some rational ones out there!

To be fair. He does have the…

To be fair. He does have the only National Championship in 75 years for us.

Joined at the beginning of…

Joined at the beginning of the 2009 season. Mostly did a lot of game day wallpapers for computers. Had read a few things here beforehand, but really enjoyed getting some creative stuff out of the way. Since then, both of my daughters have been born, I've changed careers, and MGoBlog has been in the background the whole time. I'm not as active as I was a while ago, but I still really enjoy the long-form content and I commonly lurk/occasionally comment in the game day threads (still a wild place). Hoping to have a National Championship tonight to provide content for a new set of wallpapers.

This will be unpopular, but…

This will be unpopular, but I actually heard the opposite in his voice. He sounded excited that Michigan was handling Bama. I was shocked when I first heard it. I still think he's overly dramatic and obviously is a homer for OSU, but I don't know, last night it almost sounded like he was happy that someone in the B1G wasn't rolling over. I could have just misinterpreted his tone, but I had the opposite take on Herbie last night.

Also awesome.

It Semaj catches that he's…

It Semaj catches that he's booking though. It was a mistake, but he was going hard, which is what we have all been clamoring for all break. Don't be vanilla, right? I'm choosing to take a breath.

Why do we insist on throwing…

Why do we insist on throwing to guys who have no chance of getting a first?

I'm proud of this team,…

I'm proud of this team, regardless of result, for how they have played for each other and the fans. That said, win the game, Beat Bama!

Coach name for Indiana.

Coach name for Indiana.

If TV money for the…

If TV money for the Championship game wasn't a concern (😂) then you could just check to see if 2nd place happened to be the loser of "The Game", or if the Championship would be a rematch of two teams that played earlier in the season, and then just award the championship to the team that won the first matchup. Of course, because TV money IS the concern, the meaning of that first matchup will be severely neutered. This is the sad reality of the big $$ conference landscape.

SMDH. WHY DID WE BECOME IOWA…

SMDH. WHY DID WE BECOME IOWA?!

He's not alone. The whole…

He's not alone. The whole offense has been putrid. But JJ has made several REALLY bad decisions.

JJ has been hot garbage…

JJ has been hot garbage tonight. He's a good QB, but tonight has felt like the Bowling Green game. Just absolutely has his head up his ass.

At least our defense came to…

At least our defense came to Indianapolis.

We literally became Iowa to…

We literally became Iowa to play Iowa. This is so painful.

I would be ok if it wasn't…

I would be ok if it wasn't drops and stupid mental stuff. If it was just great Iowa play, I'm less upset.

I seriously hope the offense…

I seriously hope the offense is yelled at during the half. The defense has done their job, the offense has shit the bed. Most pathetic showing so far this season.

Too much partying last night…

Too much partying last night? Wtf? Offense looks like garbage.

Why the hell is Oleary…

Why the hell is Oleary getting playtime in the first half?

Not going to talk bad about…

Not going to talk bad about Cade or All, but I do hope this weekend they have nothing to cheer about. Hoping for a repeat of 2021's B1G CCG.

Do we just have a bag of…

Do we just have a bag of plays we draw from randomly? That was so dumb. It was completely unblocked and behind the LOS.

Time for next man up and win…

Time for next man up and win it for Zinter! Get well soon, young man!

Several holds on that drive,…

Several holds on that drive, but it appears we're not getting any calls today, boys. Have to pucker up and push forward.

The good news? We're leading…

The good news? We're leading by 4 at half when our offense has been anemic. Imagine if we can turn it on in the second half? The defense needs more pressure on McCord, for sure, but outside of two drives, the defense played pretty well. They got screwed on the hands to the face call and the holding on Graham was ridiculous. Both set Ohio State up for points. The hold was less impactful as it was inside the red zone, but let's just not play Rolder in man and we are doing well.

Come out and score on the first drive of the second half and we're back to holding them at arms' length again. I believe in this team more than any of the previous that have beaten the Buckeyes recently. Let's go BLUE!

They were eventually going…

They were eventually going to execute. We just have to score again and go for the double dip.

Literally Michigan vs…

Literally Michigan vs Everybody, including Joel Klatt, apparently. Wow. What a dime by JJ.

Woo! Stole the sign!

Woo! Stole the sign!

So far I am seeing Ohio…

So far I am seeing Ohio State have the right scheme, just not executing. Michigan play calls seem very vanilla. Hope that Moore opens it up a bit because eventually Ohio State will execute.

I read through last year's…

I read through last year's game thread this morning and I see it's the same as always today. Doom and gloom after one series. I feel confident we can win this. That's all.

JJ had a lot of room to run to his left on that one.

Trying to be calm given the amount of time left and that we're leading, but I am NOT comfortable that our coaches have this team focused.

Made a thing for phones…

Made a thing for phones. I'll work on some more stuff for desktop backgrounds soon. Been in retirement for a while on this, but if there is an appetite for wallpapers, I will unretire for the cause.

I used to think that. Now my…

I used to think that. Now my opinion is that I want them to lose every game and shut down their football program from shame. I used to want a fun competitive game. Now I just want them to feel pain. They made this personal, so let's root for them to suffer personally.

And...exhale.

And...exhale.

That whole drive was setup…

That whole drive was setup by a blatant missed hold on the long run. Then the D missed on some very obvious situations. Hate to see it, but we still have a 5 point lead at half. I believe our adjustments are better than theirs. The third quarter should be telling. Neither team has allowed a point in the third quarter this season (if I'm remembering correctly), so the team that wins the third may very well win the game.

THAT IS ADJUSTMENTS!

THAT IS ADJUSTMENTS!

Lots of thin-skinned folks…

Lots of thin-skinned folks in here. It's our first game against a team with a pulse. It's not supposed to be easy. Let the boys adjust and do what they do. Let's freaking go, Blue! TD on this drive!

First drive jitters are out…

First drive jitters are out. Time to step on the gas. Use motion, get them out of sync, step on their throat.

Did I read the stats…

Did I read the stats correctly? Did we have TWO players shoot 100% tonight? Damn.

Brady Quinn and Lavar…

Brady Quinn and Lavar Arrington had a pretty good exchange here. Amazing that two former players from rival teams are the ones being the voice of reason. Not thread worthy, but I figured it would be something y'all might enjoy.
