Maybe he just isn't that…

Maybe he just isn't that good of a football player.  For some guys, their good size and raw athleticism doesn't translate to field.

I'm sure car-talk will be a common point of interest in their locker room.

I think our defense would…

I think our defense would have done better than anyone else against 2019 LSU, but that team was absolutely loaded.  Jefferson and Chase can burn even good NFL defenses.

Our special teams were so…

Our special teams were so good all year and then this debacle.  The Jake Thaw muff was the worst for me since it was a huge mental blunder.  How hard is it to stand at the ten yard line and then let ANYTHING over your head hopefully bounce into the endzone for a touchback.  Do that pretend fair catch ploy to hopefully draw the coverage team away from the ball.

I see returners make this mistake on the college and NFL levels way too often.

I didn't say it had an…

I didn't say it had an impact on whether he should be the coach, you implied that part.

If Beilein was still coaching, yes, I believe they would be a much better team.  Quality coaching never goes out of style.

Maybe Juwan can turn it around.  He seems like a good guy and will hopefully succeed.  He's just not on Beilein's level, nor are most current NCAA coaches.

I wasn't planning to comment…

I wasn't planning to comment, but this post was just too worthy.  Juwan inherited a program in very good shape and with good players already on the team. He has went backwards.

Beilein had to build the program up.  No comparison between the two.  Beilein is a significantly better coach and his teams were way more enjoyable to watch play.

You are spot on as well.  Well said.

The sooner the Power 5…

The sooner the Power 5 schools break away from the NCAA for football, the better.

Not sure how that would work for basketball and the "NCAA Tournament."

A long time ago, I was…

A long time ago, I was picking up my nephews from a Michigan basketball camp being run by then head coach, Steve Fisher.  After the camp was done, we had to head back to the dorm they were staying in, collect their stuff and head out.

On the way out, we were joined by a few other parents and campers, including Don Shane.  We were trying to take a shortcut though a basement, but kept hitting multiple dead-ends & locked doors.  I finally said "I dare Don to get out of this basement."  He was not amused.

My nephews never got a Michigan offer and would up playing at Kent State and Charleston Southern.

I hope they are some young…

I hope they are some young offensive savant.  Does Ben Johnson have a younger brother?

Russ Thomas was the Lions GM…

Russ Thomas was the Lions GM for around 20 years (1967-1988) and his main qualification was being a buddy of WCF.  He was not good; more worried about profit over results.

Chuck Schmidt was a solid GM in the 90's.

What Hayes did was worse,…

What Hayes did was worse, but that "bump" could have seriously injured Hayed who was running full speed and went crashing into the bench.  In that situation, it wasn't a harmless bump.  Both should get suspended, with Hayes getting a larger one.

When I was a high school…

When I was a high school senior and UCLA offered me $2MM or $3MM to play for them, I would have taken the money and headed out west.

Only problem was that I wasn't a 5* QB and back in those days, the best college coaches made under $200K.

Nice.  +100

Nice.  +100

Fields won't be able to keep…

Fields won't be able to keep running at this rate.  He better hope his passing game keeps developing or his effectiveness will be short lived.

They have/had totally…

They have/had totally…

They have/had totally different styles.  Keels is uber-professional, remains on an even "keel" and provides great detail.  He's one of the best play-by-play announcers I've ever heard.

Ufer was the biggest homer ever and had the enthusiasm of three people.  He was fun to listed to and was great in his own way...if you were a Michigan fan.

I wonder how our current…

I wonder how our current freshman QBs are progressing.  Maybe one is showing promise.  We need an insider....

Exactly.  I'm already tired…

Exactly.  I'm already tired of hearing how few yards UM gained in the first half other than the big plays.  Like they would have been stopping the run without loading the box.

Agreed.  If it's a big game…

Agreed.  If it's a big game like UM-OSU, I don't want RG3 near the stadium.  However, if it's a mismatch, the game can use some of his off-the-wall comments.  He comes across as a nice guy.

Good point. Locking in the…

Good point. Locking in the next year's salary makes the $5MM fine not a big deal for him.

I was at the game with my…

I was at the game with my dad and brother.  Ride home from the Silverdome was a bummer...but dinner was great.

Did you actually read all…

Did you actually read all the depositions?  Some of the excepts sound very bad and many of the ladies were clearly not prostitutes.

I live near the course.  I heard a ton of sirens and was wondering what had happened.

Nina Dobrev and Victoria…

Nina Dobrev and Victoria Justice.

Great point.  He got see UM…

Great point.  He got see UM finally beating Ohio State, and beating them soundly.

Since he's the Lions head…

Since he's the Lions head coach he will likely get canned in a few years and never rehired again in the NFL, but he's done a great job keeping the team together and playing hard.  I still have a sliver of hope in the guy, assuming his coordinators can improve.

They've been my team since…

They've been my team since the early 1970's.  No changing now. Only difference now is that losses don't upset me anymore....I just chuckle and move on.  Must be what Cubs fans felt for decades.

I wonder if Michigan would…

I wonder if Michigan would have anyone on a Top-75 NFL list?   Yuk yuk, yuk....

Zach's a good player, but…

Zach's a good player, but the people mentioning him for Heisman consideration are going a little too far.

I would not trade him for any of our top three running backs.

I just wish we could recruit a couple more positions that well.

I really like this kid. …

I really like this kid.  Height isn't everything, especially when the player is also quick and strong.  I read through the comments and think many people are undervaluing Dug.  I think he's going to play well out of the gate and be a solid contributor for several seasons.

No comparison to Loyer.  Dug is stronger, quicker and tougher.

You nailed it.  Koepka…

You nailed it.  Koepka reminds me of a bully in high school, that thinks he's too cool for everyone else.  He's ripped on DJ, Rory, announcers, says he doesn't need any friends on tour.

If he keeps acting like this, pretty soon the hecklers could start in and that will really set him off.

I was on the 45 yard line,…

I was on the 45 yard line, 2nd row of the upper deck.  Great seats and the best pro football game I've ever been to.  You could actually feel the upper deck shaking. Loudest sporting event I ever been at....and I've been to a lot.  The domed roof and over 80,000 winning deprived Lions fans was a potent mix.

My brother in law was a…

My brother in law was a former NBA player, drafted #32 overall in1970's.  When boxing me out, all he had to do was reach out one arm and I was frozen.  The strength of a guy who's 6'7 and solidly built was eye opening.

Like other people have noted, he could hit mid- range open shots all day along.  Actually, he didn't need to be open.  I'm only 6'2, so he just shot over the top of me.

Can we have Juwan speak to…

Can we have Juwan speak to him?

Hopefully the Mangham story…

Hopefully the Mangham story will end a lot better than former Seaholm WR recruit Shawn Conway.

When the next Maples recruit comes along, sometime this century, I hope Ernie W is shown some love.

I had tickets that day also,…

I had tickets that day also, but was stuck at a business meeting near Nashville.  I was trying to rush my boss to get out of there sooner, but he was intent on taking his sweet time.  By the time my later flight landed in Detroit, the game had already started, so I decided to drive home.

Caught the fight on TV.  If I had only known what was to occur, I would have went straight to the Joe.

So I'm guessing you know him…

So I'm guessing you know him personally and are sure he's an awful person.  Good to know.

Watch his video.  The guy…

Watch his video.  The guy does things a 7 footer just shouldn't be able to do.

I would not be surprised if…

I would not be surprised if Tschetter has the best overall college career out of everyone in this recruiting class.  He will likely stay 4 years, he's tough, has really good footwork and a nice shooting touch.  As someone else stated, reminds me of a Wisconsin forward who you're glad to see finally graduate if he's an opponent.

Festivus - feats of strength…

Festivus - feats of strength...any year.

I hear ya.  Like he had no…

I hear ya.  Like he had no power as head coach to tell Blackwell, his employee, to leave?  I like how he is adamant once again.  I guess being "adamant" must make it true.  His lawyer's say this does nothing to his credibility...huh?  I think being proven that you lied or have such a poor memory must do something to your credibility.

No shame... probably learned it from the Vest.

Wasn't their site offering a reduced subscription price thru MGOBLOG?

I see right now they have a sale for $2.99 per month for an annual subscription.  Do they occasionally offer better promotional rates?

I grew up in Royal Oak…

I grew up in Royal Oak during that time, which was unfortunately right in the middle of the OCCK crimes.  I remember it too well.  It was a huge story in the media and a regular topic of discussion.

Now I live close to where one of the suspected killers lived, not far from the Birmingham abduction.

I still would like closure to these crimes via DNA.  It won't bring the victims back and the perpetrator is probably long dead, but it impacted a lot of lives and still carries emotional weight to this day.

Totally agree.  He's also…

Totally agree.  He's also going against Mary Barra at GM, who has surpassed almost every expectation and is well respected in the industry and on Wall Street.

I recently had a meeting with Ms. Barra and came away very impressed.
