Seems like our team and our…

Seems like our team and our prospects are right in line with the entire college basketball world this year - "On any given night ..."

We can be world-beaters one day (or in December) and Nebraska-esque the next. Once March Madness starts, I'll be shocked if anybody has a bracket W/L % over 60% after the first weekend. Our fate, unfortunately, swings on three guys (usually X, Livers and Franz) having a good game. Getting a plus game from Teske, Eli or anybody else is a crapshoot. But that looks like 95% of the rest of the NCAA. My expectations are for a Sweet Sixteen and anything else is a bonus - which is about what fans at most schools ranked 6 through 25 would say.

Good to see the callout on…

Good to see the callout on Bonner and glad it isn't just me. That guy is a waste of a microphone. He's not Captain Obvious. He's Rear Admiral/Five-Star General Obvious. How in the world did he get a gig like this?

Dude, I'm 62 and I've done…

Dude, I'm 62 and I've done this 40 in 4.63. After 4 12 oz. curls. With a sprained ankle.

On the last point, well, not…

On the last point, well, not all of Crisler was expecting a call. Without looking at any rule book, seems when the ball is knocked out of the shooter's possession, it's technically a loose ball. The play then "restarts", sort of.

For something I never thought I'd say at the season's start, we missed Eli on both ends last night. And even stranger, it was on the defensive end where we have seen his developing skill set on slowing down guard penetration (see: Winston, Cassius)

Sort of related, but this…

Sort of related, but this dynamic is similar to Michigan's overall admissions pattern. Many in-state students would love to go here and are qualified, but the national and international appeal  of the school squeezes out a lot of great local kids in favor of top kids from outside the state (with their out-of-state tuition)

There's a real mental…

There's a real mental/attitude difference between Teske and Davis. Davis goes TO the hoop on every shot. Teske goes AWAY. Unbelievably aggravating and baffling. Hell, they have the same big man coach!

MGBTOY.  And it ain't even…

MGBTOY.  And it ain't even close.

Exactly. That's why it had a…

Exactly. That's why it had a critical date attached. This is more an indictment of MSU who was probably in the know and figured it's a nice "thanks, have a nice life" package. If they get a new coach in a week or two, you know they OK'd this.

See, it's this kind of…

See, it's this kind of dumbass take that conflates the organization with the people. Every organization or enterprise has its flaws, some colossal like the Catholic church's. Those same organizations have as members, employees, followers, etc. the type of individual that has good in their heart and brain. You are just too damn small-minded to understand such a complex (s/) concept.

Ready for the thread to go bye-bye.

Agree with most of this, but…

Agree with most of this, but I think Teske's limited skill set can still work. He's got a nice baby hook with either hand and can hit wide open threes - uncommon for a 7-footer. But agree that his post repertoire is limited to just that baby hook. He should watch some Garza and Ethan Happ film for great post moves and footwork.

So if they talked about it…

So if they talked about it last week, would they say LSU has an advantage over CLEMSON!!!! because they pay players and broke rules? Chuckle, chuckle.

Coach H missed the coaches…

Coach H missed the coaches show last night (Saddi subbed in) out recruiting and speculation/hopes were that he was with Christopher. Maybe???

Pretty sure he declared the…

Pretty sure he declared the other.

I agree that (from this…

I agree that (from this small highlight sample) he looks more like a 3 than a 4. While there is no defensive film here, he looks a bit short to hang with B10 4's. I'd rather see him lose a few lbs. and get quick enough to guard 3's. But he has a sweet stroke, strong body and could be a fantastic wing. Maybe a Miles Bridges type.

It's gotten to be a lot of…

It's gotten to be a lot of fun. Somehow, some way, we got our tickets at midcourt, row 4. They look like Schlissel's seats for MBB. Looking for a great crowd tonight. Go Blue!

The interweb says the next…

The interweb says the next full moon isn't until Dec. 12. What the heck is going on tonight?

Good point as I think Runyan…

Good point as I think Runyan made some money on Saturday. Should (could?) be a serviceable-to-good guard in the NFL.

A tough reality. Think about…

A tough reality. Think about this: the basketball team is performing a miracle in the same reality. Look at who are leading our team. Did they even sniff an offer from UNC or Gonzaga? How they are playing now is simply amazing in the face of programs that are the basketball parallel to OSU, Alabama, Clemson and LSU. Substitute Kentucky, UNC, Kansas and it's the same story: Sham classes, bags of dough, player dorms, one and done. I don't know how long they can keep up this level of play, but it is nothing short of a miracle in this day and age.

And I also sat next to two assholes in red on Saturday. I wish someone would fire their money cannon at StubHub in two years and take a bunch of Michigan middle and high schoolers to The Game.

True, unless they take 10%…

True, unless they take 10% or so and fund a truly independent investigating unit - NOT THE NCAA - that reports to a blue ribbon committee of university presidents and ADs. All this unit does is investigate suspected payments through unofficial channels. Any player found getting more than the stated amount is ineligible and schools forfeit wins. Just like it's supposed to be now but the NCAA is toothless, mindless and gutless.

Divide all the TV money between schools and players like the pros do with teams and players. Schools keep their own gate, licensing, concessions and local media money.

The tough nut to crack will be policing name, likeness and image money. That should go to the players, but maybe it goes in escrow until they use up their eligibility to lessen the immediate impact of payoffs described as sponsor or image use money.

Geez, this ain't easy.

They were bucknuts. I still…

They were bucknuts. I still get frosted over M "fans" who leave early or sell their seats outside of the AD system. Way too much red in the stadium.

Too soon, dude. Good for you…

Too soon, dude. Good for you, but WAY too fucking soon for me to put on the Mr. Optimism hat.

Stayed til the end to watch a bunch of real assholes (sat next to two) revel in our misery on our turf. Those guys are just way bigger, faster and just better and I don't see the solution.

You, sir, have channeled…

Not sure how being up 5 with…

Not sure how being up 5 with a little over 3 minutes to go qualifies as "ran the Bluejays off the court". This game was dicey until late.

Still, Livers looks quicker than last year, X probed, drove and dished as well as any time last year (AND HIT 2 THREES!), Dejulius is becoming more patient but with timely aggressiveness and Big Sleep will be a big advantage down low in nearly every game we play. Agree with the Nunez benching. No D, no PT. And not a bad crowd for a freezing night. Good game, Coach!

Each of whom said, "Get me…

Each of whom said, "Get me the fuck out of this place."

I vaguely remember something…

I vaguely remember something about a head coach covering for a wife abuser, too.

I believe he gets $4.3M if…

I believe he gets $4.3M if he is retained through Jan. 15. If he gets deposed before that and more shit hits the fan, even the Mork-loving trustees will have to step up and cut him loose with zero (or something much short of that for his many years of dedicated, productive service).

Watch Mork get some sort of medical issue immediately after the season which will postpone the deposition until Jan. 16.

Not negging you, but you…

Not negging you, but you need to be clearer in your terms. Big capital IS the people, albeit a handful, but it isn't urban planners or municipal folks. The money ain't there. So if you want game-changing development, like this appears to be, you have to accept money from the 1%.

And if you're looking for good decisions in planning from the people (i.e., their elected representatives), you get the idiotic jail concept which this new enterprise will replace.

But I appreciate your sentiment on getting the people involved.

IMG's deal is up next year…

IMG's deal is up next year. 12 year deal signed in 2008. This task will undoubtedly be addressed quickly as the OP suggests, but I doubt IMG will be given the task outright.

I had put it out of my mind,…

I had put it out of my mind, but then the end of your name got me thinking about it all over again, StephenRK. Damn.

Random, yes. But I just…

Random, yes. But I just Googled this. Footballperspective.com (no idea who they are) did an analysis from 2000-2011 and 62% of non-QB running plays and 60% of receiver fumbles are recovered by defense. 45% of QB runs are recovered by defense.

Makes sense as more defenders are around the ball after the line of scrimmage.

Fumble rates sure don't seem to be random. We really suck at it this year. It's hard to figure how you coach that out of guys. We always see practice film of RBs running through gauntlets of machines or guys beating them with pads. Not sure if Mike Hart has any secret sauce. Seems to be just plain concentration after you get past the line of scrimmage.

No, as a matter of fact, I'm…

No, as a matter of fact, I'm not.

Good place for a comma. REALLY good.

We had the longest walk and smallest rooms on central campus. And it's a stretch to call it central campus. The hockey puck burgers were C- which was slightly mitigated by the soft serve ice cream machine. Pit parties weren't bad, either.

Well, pretty good.

Completely agree on "You…

Completely agree on "You suck". I even emailed Brandon about it and got a typically arrogant and sarcastic response to a nicely worded message. This was at the time that all the emails from Brandon to various fans came out on this site. I just didn't feel I needed to pile on, but his douchebaggery is off the charts.

I agree. Watching some of…

I agree. Watching some of those wildcat plays showed a bit of what Jabril could do with a running start. He has both real speed and football speed, just a way of accelerating past guys closing in. Makes you wonder what would have happened if the mantra of "speed in space" was the philosophy when he was here.

Must be Colin Kaepernick's family yelling at you.

Looks like the most unique…

Looks like the most unique feature is the chair-to-bed function. As a light sleeper, I can not IMAGINE being able to sleep in a locker room. Maybe they will all have headphones on as I can't see a 180 lb. DB yelling,"Hey, turn down those tunes! I need a nap!" to a 320 lb. lineman.

Just seems like overthinking and overengineering. I get that these guys work their asses off and have long, tiring days, but why not just build a nap room with 30 bunk beds if naps are now recognized as a must-have while at the team facility?

Please see "Michigan…

Please see "Michigan Football Hype Vid: Arise" three posts down.

Yeah, right! What the heck…

Yeah, right! What the heck is a preseason hype video doing on a Michigan sports fan site in July?!?

Season ticket holder here…

Season ticket holder here. Live in A2 so I make all the games. Still, I like this idea. Those watching on TV don't see the empty seats for 9 p.m. games against crappy opponents. Hell, I go, but grudgingly, to Rutgers and the "buy" games. Probably national TV, NY press, probably Caris in the house, good recruiting territory and, oh, probably a decent payday.

What would have made this GREAT would be a men's/women's doubleheader. (Season ticket holder there, too.) Would be great for KBA's recruiting and the Rutgers women are better than the men (relatively, but maybe actually). Just get a bigger plane and make it a PR home run.

You're welcome, Warde.
