Shuster Tweet: TRO issued after midnight would get us through OSU game.

That's a strategical counter to the whole court holiday move they pulled. Brilliant.
November 10th, 2023 at 9:20 PM ^
It's all politics man but tony is a douche and so is the rest of the big ten. All this shit won't mean nothing if the boy's don't come through. Enjoy the game tomorrow fellas. GO BLUE

Are you high?
November 10th, 2023 at 9:29 PM ^
It's Friday, it's been a long week, a few adult beverages or something pleasant are certainly warranted I'd think.
November 10th, 2023 at 9:30 PM ^
Extremely 😎
November 10th, 2023 at 10:27 PM ^
I've been consuming a lot of liquid refreshments lately over this. Up, down, up, down.

Crazy like a fox!
November 10th, 2023 at 9:20 PM ^
In 14 days, or within 14 days? Big difference.
I hope he's right.
November 10th, 2023 at 9:22 PM ^
MCR 3.310(B)(3) - Except in domestic relations actions, a temporary restraining order granted without notice expires by its terms within such time after entry, not to exceed 14 days, as the court sets unless within the time so fixed the order, for good cause shown, is extended for a like period or unless the party against whom the order is directed consents that it may be extended for a longer period. The reasons for the extension must be stated on the record or in a document filed in the action.
November 10th, 2023 at 9:23 PM ^
Wondered the same thing. I suppose Michigan could ask for a continuance until the last possible moment.
November 10th, 2023 at 9:23 PM ^
Within. “Except in domestic relations actions, a temporary restraining order granted without notice expires by its terms within such time after entry, not to exceed 14 days, as the court sets”
November 10th, 2023 at 9:36 PM ^
Within, and if issued ex parte the other side can move to dissolve it on very short notice (sometimes two days or less, depending on the rules of the particular court).
November 10th, 2023 at 9:43 PM ^
The motion to dissolve could be filed almost as soon as a ruling granting the ex parte motion. That said, the process will take time - it looks good for Harbaugh coaching tomorrow.
November 10th, 2023 at 9:21 PM ^
Brilliant
November 10th, 2023 at 9:21 PM ^
Brilliant.
Going to enjoy watch TP and the B1G get their pants pulled down in a few short hours.
Maize and Blue forever and ever, amen.
November 10th, 2023 at 9:21 PM ^
That would make me laugh my ass off. Will be checking around midnight then.
November 10th, 2023 at 9:22 PM ^
Just made a pot of coffee.

The judge now until 12:01:
November 10th, 2023 at 9:22 PM ^
You don’t even need a biased judge here. It’s obscene what he’s trying and to delay it to skirt legal due process is close to criminal. He’s cooked. It’s a slam dunk case.
November 10th, 2023 at 10:08 PM ^
If ever there were an example of a deliberate, intentionally aspersive act, the timing of this suspension is it.
You can’t even squint and see it as anything other than vindictive and abusive.
The overreaction is breathtaking.
November 10th, 2023 at 9:22 PM ^
I live in Central time zone, so I'll hear about it a full hour before all you losers!!!
Haaaaaahahahahahaha!!!!!!
Wait...
November 10th, 2023 at 9:27 PM ^
Pretty pissed AlumGoScotland already knows the outcome. Forget AussieBlue2023 who knew half a day ago.
We'll wait.
November 10th, 2023 at 9:31 PM ^
Hope you didn’t forget to reset your clocks on Sunday! That would be embarrassing
November 10th, 2023 at 9:22 PM ^
Hometown judge, in the family, for the win? Sounds good to me!
November 10th, 2023 at 9:24 PM ^
All this means is that this is what Michigan asked for. Doesn’t mean he’ll order it. Could go shorter, don’t think he could go longer.
November 10th, 2023 at 9:24 PM ^
Interesting that it's in state court in Michigan. B10 offices are in Indy, I think. Why would they have to respect this ruling?
November 10th, 2023 at 9:26 PM ^
It's still a federal judge.
November 10th, 2023 at 9:29 PM ^
Eastern District Court judge is also a Michigan grad... It could have gone many different ways
November 10th, 2023 at 9:31 PM ^
State judge. Michigan courts would have jurisdiction over the Big Ten in Michigan because of the amount of business and presence it has in Michigan.
November 10th, 2023 at 9:31 PM ^
B1G offices are in Chicagoland.
They have to respect it because they do business in the state of Michigan.
November 10th, 2023 at 9:32 PM ^
Because they do substantial business in Michigan and we could enforce the order anywhere they do business.
November 10th, 2023 at 9:58 PM ^
I learned something today.
November 10th, 2023 at 9:24 PM ^
It is possible that the B1G or court pushes for the hearing before the 14 days.
November 10th, 2023 at 9:31 PM ^
Doesn't matter what they want - the hearing gets set by the judge.
November 10th, 2023 at 9:24 PM ^
mess with powerful academic institutions, you end up with successful, powerful people of position. See ya on the sideline soon Harbaugh.

I feel like this is accurate but misleading, and probably the worst possible reason to delay the TRO.
IANAL but I can't imagine that a TRO is uncontestable, any more than the crap TP tried to pull off. The U.S. court system is infamous for "it's appeals all the way down".
So maybe one of the gazillion lawyers here will keep me honest but no, just holding off for a few more hours will not give Michigan impunity through The Game. The B1G will have an opportunity within the next two weeks to file a motion of their own against the TRO, and I'll even bet these things can be extended or expedited, which makes the timing not matter nearly as much.
November 10th, 2023 at 9:33 PM ^
The hearing date would get set by the judge. There's not much you can do to get them to use a date of your choosing.
November 10th, 2023 at 9:34 PM ^
They can always move to dissolve the TRO. I’m not sure that a TRO is immediately appealable. I very much doubt it tho. I’ve never looked at it. When I’ve lost, I’ve just taken the lick.
November 10th, 2023 at 9:41 PM ^
Which is just about the best way to guaranty that Harbaugh won't get suspended... I'd love to see them wait for the 6 months it would take for the Court of Appeals to issue an order saying they don't see the need for an interlocutory appeal.
November 10th, 2023 at 9:44 PM ^
No! The TRO doesn't expire until after The Game ...Monday the 27th they can have at it ...We can put coach jack harbaugh vs the west all stars for the 3peat
November 10th, 2023 at 9:26 PM ^
This assumes the judge doesn’t recuse himself, grants the TRO, and doesn’t schedule a hearing sooner.
Assumptions.
Not yet a done deal. But I sure would be happy!
