Play by play guy when PSU defender goes down hurt:  "that is a . . . pejorative sight".    A for effort.  But just stay within yourself.   When you try to do too much you just hurt the team.

It’s a little disheartening to watch Ole Miss throw for 250 yards in a half when Michigan didn’t even throw in the 2nd half.

Michigan’s not one for tempo and has never had a “Chuck it to the big outside receiver” game even when we’ve had those kinds of receivers.

But one of the upshots is that our defense is much, much better. Ole Miss is a classic example of how complimentary football works; their offense is extremely tempo, and their defense suffers for it.

There’s a definite pattern to their drives; once they get rolling, they’re hard to stop, and PSU’s thin depth chart accentuates the problems. When PSU is fresh they’re all over the offensive backfield, and that has nearly caused two big TOs. Once Ole Miss gets past that they turn on the jets and PSU starts to struggle.

Franklin is so embarassing. 1:30 ball back with 3 time outs and no effort to score/horrendous drive and now Kiffin will probably score with only 40 seconds to go.

One Ole Miss play I really like is that quick pitchout against PSU’s aggressive DEs. Gets them into space quickly. PSU missing some key guys that can close that down, too.

Its downright ugly weather over here on the west coast next few days from what I've seen. Interested to see Wx report for the grandaddy of them all, but rain & cold likely in LA

It’s what serves as a wet season in CA and it’s a big El Niño year (a trend dramatically visible in Minnesota, incidentally), so I’m not surprised at all by the larger forecast trends.

One interesting feature of the Rose Bowl is good weather luck. One time there was heavy rain all day on New Years, but the game was the BCS title game that year and happened later, when there was perfect weather.

(And a perfect game! That was the 2006 Rose Bowl between USC and Texas).

College football teams need to start playing 2 QBs every week.  Maybe recruit one dual threat and give that QB significant action in case the drop back QB goes down.  Ohio State's 3rd stringer wasn't up to the task, almost by design as the offense went into a shell when he came in the game.  All teams will do better when the QB runs, but the threat of an injury means you need a decent backup.
