Michigan Hockey @ #7 Lowell Game Thread
Well WolverineDevotee has sworn off mgoblogging and I haven't seen CenterIce much this year. Perhaps this will be me talking to myself...
#14 Michigan (1-2-0) at #7 UMass-Lowell (2-0-1).
Michigan should probably be happy with a split this weekend (also @ #12 BU). Lets see how this goes. JT Compher is playing tonight FWIW (he was in doubt).

October 24th, 2014 at 8:13 PM ^
Yeah, this would have been nice last weekend

He's having himself a game today. Great to see his development.

let's go for the hat trick tonight!
October 24th, 2014 at 8:16 PM ^
moar goals?
October 24th, 2014 at 8:17 PM ^
but we 'sound' better than we've played in any game so far. We seem to be controlling play pretty well except for the 2 Lowell goals which seemed pretty sudden.
Though our radio guys are noted homers so its hard to be certain of this

Zach Hyman is a program guy. He came to Michigan the OJHL player of the year and couldn't score for 2 years. Most players like that take the easy way and leave for the CHL.
Hyman stayed and played a forechecking role for 2 years. Hard work pays off. Now the scoring is starting to come.

so I'm drinking some Mad Hatter IPA's and hittin' a little Master Kush.
I am listening to the Michigan hockey game on WTKA, and watching the Devils/Stars game muted. I am totally freaking out right now.
I find myself getting really confused, because the audio doesn't match the visual.

The radio feed is apparently about 30-60 seconds behind TV because I saw your comment before it was called on the radio. A rough comment to see

Got the early warning a few lines up but I'll take it
5-3. Hyman with the hatty. Awesome for him.
October 24th, 2014 at 8:32 PM ^
hat trick pos bang!!!
October 24th, 2014 at 8:33 PM ^
Now it sounds like they gave it to Larkin. Recall on the hattrick celebrations
Larkin's first M goal though so equally as cool
October 24th, 2014 at 8:34 PM ^
3-2 this period. I feel like Michigan rarely ever gets in these shootout games (but then again we struggled to score 2 goals/game last year so maybe that shouldnt be surprising)
October 24th, 2014 at 8:36 PM ^
Hope this turns into an epic 20K thread -- he can still get a hatty!
This game tonight is a great example of the old hockey addage, "the most dangerous lead is a 2-goal lead."
Let's go BLUE!!!
October 24th, 2014 at 8:39 PM ^
Clearly me getting to 20k is good luck for the team so for all games the rest of this year we will
- We have a pregame negbang thread to get me back under 20k
- I will re-achieve 20k in thread
- Michigan will win out and be 2015 National Champions

Now he gets the hat trick!
6-3!
October 24th, 2014 at 8:39 PM ^
End of the second , 6-3 Michigan.
October 24th, 2014 at 8:40 PM ^
Michigan won the period 4-2. I think Michigan scored more than 4 goals in a game just a few times last year, much less 6 in 2 periods
October 24th, 2014 at 8:42 PM ^
Doesn't deserve it's own thread but Mike Weber is killing an undefeated King HS in the PSL championship tonight. King has only given up 38 points in 8 games, (6 shutouts).
October 24th, 2014 at 8:44 PM ^
3G, 1A so far. What a game and still a period to go
October 24th, 2014 at 8:44 PM ^
You thinking of changing your name back after tonights performence
October 24th, 2014 at 8:50 PM ^
The last two year's incredibly frustrating teams could beat #1 Minnesota 6-2 one night and then lose to Penn State for the 3rd time in a year to eliminate themselves from the tournament yet again the following week.
Tonight is definitely great to see and may be galvanizing to the team, but it's too soon to tell and losing 5-1 at home to UNH remains very concerning
October 24th, 2014 at 8:50 PM ^
Michigan 6, UMass-Lowell 3
2nd Period Goals:
- Hyman from Kile and Larkin at 2:27
- White from Campbell and Chapie at 2:58
- Hyman from Kile and Downing at 5:11
- Wallin from Mueller and Fallon at 12:11
- Larkin from Hyman at 15:35
- Hyman from Chiasson and Martin at 18:08
Shots 17-13 U-M in the 2nd, 32-19 U-M overall
No 2nd Period Power Plays
*Backup Sieve Jeff Smith replaces starting sieve Kevin Boyle for UML in the 2nd
Analysis:
the line of Larkin, Hyman, and Kile are on a misson for world domination.......they are KILLING Lowell tonight.....and like Center Ice said, could not be happening to a more deserving guy than Zach Hyman
October 24th, 2014 at 9:13 PM ^
Holland better not trade him to Buffalo for the overrated pylon Tyler Myers.
