Here’s the full title with subheader

The 2020–21 NBA All-League Pass Team

Acknowledging a few players who in all likelihood won’t be recognized in any official capacity for their sacrifice, growth or production this year.

My Jordan Poole “won’t be recognized in any official capacity” in Crisler story. It was 2017 “Selfie Night” on the concourse of Crisler where you could line up and get pictures with your favorite Wolverines. There were long lines for Coach Beilein, Mo Wagner, and Xavier Simpson at their stations. Even freshman Isaiah Livers had a modest line coming off a “Mr. Basketball” title as a senior in HS. I was stationed with Jordan and Brent Hibbets and had to cajole people to stop and get a pic with this cute young man who might be a star someday.

Title doesn't say it all—you have to read the article find out what in hell the "All-League Pass" team is.

I believe it's "All League-Pass" team (I realize they phrased it as All-League Pass, but the other way makes more sense to me)... League Pass being the service where you can watch any NBA game regardless of market. Not sure what their exact criteria are for this selection, but seems like "exciting player that doesn't get as much national attention" is the idea.

League Pass being the service where you can watch any NBA game regardless of market.

That explains things... so not only did the title not say it all, but the fucking article itself doesn't bother to explain what "All League-Pass" is.

I don't watch the NBA, and when I first saw the OP I wondered if "All League Pass" referred to players who were top-notch passers and ball distributors, or if it meant "teams should have taken a pass on drafting these players."

On top of that, the description of Poole's play is almost in the "damning with faint praise" category:

"Instead, his season has been an oft-delightful mixed bag. There are long nights when he looks lost and can’t hit any shots while getting bullied on the other end; in an ideal world Poole would have quickly stepped in as Golden State’s backup point guard and been able to buoy an offense that melts whenever Curry sits. That hasn’t happened ... yet."

JP has averaged about 20 ppg in the last 6 games of the season, including spot starting duty where he scored 38 while filling in for the greatest shooter on the planet.  On any other team not featuring Steph Curry he would be a featured scorer.

He came out too early and was drafted by an upper echelon team with a strong player development program (funny how those usually go together).  The Warriors were patient after a "meh" rookie year, and JP kept working.  Now, at the end of year two, he's been on the court at crunch time.

Don't be surprised if Poole and the Warriors make some noise in the NBA playoffs (if they survive the play in tournament).

If you have to click the link to understand the post, then the title doesn't say it all. But good find anyway. It will be interesting to follow his growth over the next few years. I think he'll stick as a rotation player.

I pulled his season averages after reading this. His FG% is up 10 points. 3FG% is up like 8 points. He is really coming along.

The other big thing that jumped out to me is that he was still only 21 this season. If he continues improving he will be a solid piece for a contender in the next 3-4 years. Really nice trajectory for him. Makes me happy, as I always thought he got the short end of the stick by some of the fanbase here.

Glad to see he's catching on a bit.  It does sound like he's still pretty inconsistent but he's still relatively young and you hope he'll keep developing.

I will say that the article used the word retrogressive to describe Rajon Rondo's influence on the Clippers' offense, which is...not a word I thought I'd see.

I love to go back and re-litigate his time at Michigan. I remember posting mid-season that coach B needed to shift half of the ball screen offense to JP because X couldn't shoot, and it felt like they were starting to bog down on offense. Most of this board thought JP wasn't that good of a player. He still had a lot of room to grow, but M missed by not running more through him that year. They would have still lost to that rangy Texas Teach team, but maybe only by 15.

I live in the Bay Area so watch the Warriors a lot. Last year, Poole was the worst version of himself. No effort at all on defense and taking a lot of really difficult shots and not making them.

After re-emerging from the G League this year, he's been really, really good. As another poster mentioned, he's been a top 3 scorer for the Warriors in their current win streak and has been a big reason why they haven't dropped a game since coming home from a rough road trip.

Most surprising, other than that his difficult shots are going in at a decent clip now, is that he is actually playing defense at a reasonable level. I've seen him lock up some very good guards in the last few weeks. Really has a chance to become the next Klay Thompson.
