Definitely the right hire. Not like Jim wasn't already a strong candidate for anther Power 5 job. UW isn't the same level of prestige as it was when Bret left with three consecutive B1G titles and Rose Bowls. He's 4-2, with a win that will cost Purdue the West. Who else could they get?

Sure, the Kansas guy might be the one, but it isn't like they promoted Josh Gattus (pre-2021, post 2021).

Wisky has a philosophy of power running and good D. I don't think the fan base, after seeing Graham Mertz NOT becoming a Tom Brady and moving UW into being a passing team, will want to change what has worked for the most part since the 1990s.

They should be happy they had a strong internal candidate.

FYI: I remember Jon Runyan Sr saying he was considering skipping his 5th year if Lloyd wasn't hired as full-time HC. Well, he did go pro even after Lloyd got the job. A few guys may leave, but probably not Allen now.

Jim Leonhard is a solid guy. I've been through his hometown of Tony, Wisconsin  2-3 times. It's one of those "If you blink you'll miss it" places. Amazing that anyone from such a small town went on to play in the NFL.

Is Barry Alvarez still alive? If so, you know he'll ensure another of his yes-men gets hired, until he gets mad at him for whatever reason and either fires him or he leaves. Happens like clockwork.
