$6 tickets for tomorrow's basketball game - you are an idiot, Delaney

Michigan will survive whether or not cable tv subs continue to crash, but oh my god I hope Delaney is booted because of it. That can't happen soon enough.

Fans complain when tickets are too expensive.

Fans complain when tickets are too cheap.

Fans complain when their team is 0-13.

Fans complain when their team is 13-0.

The sun sets in the west.

The world keeps spinning.

Typical for the first day.  Let's see what happens on the weekend.  Fact is these tournaments will always have attendance issues unless they move the pre-weekend games on-campus, and that makes travel planning tricky.

Are you saying that I need to provide data points to back up my statement?  This isn't a court of law - it's a message board.

I will say that when I tried to get day 1 tix a few years ago for the B1G Tourney in Indy I found the price to be $80-100.  I believe that you can find cheaper tix as the tourney progresses as people whose teams were bounced try to unload.

If Indiana is in one session and Purdue is in the other, then yeah. In Chicago it tends to be more balanced (due to large amounts of alums of a lot of the schools) unless Illinois happens to be pretty good, in which case their session costs more than the other because they have the most alums in the area.

You can usually get in for pretty cheap in Indy or Chicago, but this year's tickets are particularly cheap. Lower bowl on the first real day for 10-15 bucks? That definitely never was happening in Chicago or Indy.

Thanks a lot Obama Delaney

Just to be clear cause I'm a bit confused on this one.  We're upset cause ticket prices are too cheap and therefore the commissioner should be fired?  Do I have that right?  I'm guessing the OP hasnt had the honor of watching too many early round conference games cause they are ALL empty seats watching the game, not just in the B1G.

Hell - watch a few of the early actual NCAA tournament games (noon tip) and you'll see the same damn thing.  The games are timed for TV audiences and to minimize game overlap - not for increased actual attendance.

Will be there tomorrow.  Love having BTN in our package so I can gorge on Wolverine Football, Basketball and Hockey.  DC to Ann Arbor is actually a very easy drive (502 miles, virtually all on Turnpikes) so easy to make a few football games a year.  Have tons of Maryland alum friends - they are thrilled to be in the B1G.  Rome wasn't built in a day.  I'm a huge fan of the eastward B1G expansion

To be fair, I got $7 tix to tonight's first round games for the Big East tourney at MSG which has been in the same place for 35 years.

But, yea, outside of MD fans and alums in the area, who would go to these games in the middle of a Thursday afternoon?

This is only tangentially related, but a question just occurred to me. How old is old enough to be worth bringing your kid to a basketball game? Is it a different age for football? Hockey?

How does this compare to normal Big Ten Tournament opening-round games?

My thought is that it's going to be difficult for anyone to make a game scheduled at the last minute, held in the middle of a weekday, at a neutral site. It's not surprising to me that first-round tickets are dirt cheap, no matter where it's held.

Maryland has been a good add all around IMO.  It provided a nice outlet for Harbaugh's coaching tree in football, Durkin well have them respectable very soon.  Rutgers has added a nice bad guy, someone we can all point at and laugh without having to clarify football or basketball.  It's helped open up New Jersey for Michigan recruiting.  The motivation may have been off, but the result hasn't been bad.

Therefore I decided to "get sick" tomorrow at ~11:00 then head over to BW3 for some wings, potato wedges and a veritable plethora of beers.

This plan costs way more than $6 but way less than a flight from Detroit to DC so there ya go.  Also, more TVs to catch other games.

Anyone else get an email about reserving 2018 NCAA tickets at the Pizzarena from Olympia? Lowest price was $240. LOL. Some poor fool is gonna pay that and not realize the tickets will less than a six pack come tournament week.

I went the last time the tournament was in Chicago. Some of crappy weekday daytime games had probably only 5000 people there. Not sure this is a poor reflection of having the tournament in DC (even though I would personally prefer that it rotates throughout the midwest).

The first round games in the BTT are maybe half full if you are lucky. What's the difference if you sell them 5 dollars or 500? If you have a chance for people to scoop up tickets and make it a great atmosphere, why wouldn't you?
