$6 tickets for tomorrow's basketball game - you are an idiot, Delaney
Michigan will survive whether or not cable tv subs continue to crash, but oh my god I hope Delaney is booted because of it. That can't happen soon enough.
Fans complain when tickets are too expensive.
Fans complain when tickets are too cheap.
Fans complain when their team is 0-13.
Fans complain when their team is 13-0.
The sun rises in the east.
The sun sets in the west.
The world keeps spinning.
Fin.
Meh. He probably is but I am going to enjoy a full day of college basketball for under $40. This makes me happy.
I work a mile away from the Verizon Center but the 12:00 time screws me. Incredibly irritating
You should prolly leave work early tomorrow. To, you know, go home and rest.
I suggested a work field trip for the "emotional well-being of the employees"
Didn't go over so well....
$6 dollar tickets....FML
then called in with the old exploding underwear and projectile vommitting story. After exploding underwear, no further explanation required.
and about 10:30, drink some salt water or a teaspoon of castor oil. Problem solved. Stomach will recover in an hour, gives you 30 minutes to get to the game. :)
I was fortunate enough to be able to take two days off, so plan on going Friday as well. Hope you can take off for the second day.
Typical for the first day. Let's see what happens on the weekend. Fact is these tournaments will always have attendance issues unless they move the pre-weekend games on-campus, and that makes travel planning tricky.
That isn't true at all. I live in DC and first day tickets are pretty pricy (sic) I've found.
See how easy that was to just say things?
Are you saying that I need to provide data points to back up my statement? This isn't a court of law - it's a message board.
I will say that when I tried to get day 1 tix a few years ago for the B1G Tourney in Indy I found the price to be $80-100. I believe that you can find cheaper tix as the tourney progresses as people whose teams were bounced try to unload.
If Indiana is in one session and Purdue is in the other, then yeah. In Chicago it tends to be more balanced (due to large amounts of alums of a lot of the schools) unless Illinois happens to be pretty good, in which case their session costs more than the other because they have the most alums in the area.
You can usually get in for pretty cheap in Indy or Chicago, but this year's tickets are particularly cheap. Lower bowl on the first real day for 10-15 bucks? That definitely never was happening in Chicago or Indy.
Is the quater final 8 Vs 9 game at the Big Ten Tourny noramlly a hot ticket?
At Noon....on a Thursday.....during a work week for most all
Who has a live stream for tomorrows game? I checked espn 3 but i don't see it. Would greatly appreciate it!!
Not an ESPN game tomorrow, check the BTN App. If you don't have access to that, there's a streaming site called "First Row Sports" that usually does the trick.
Thanks alot, i will try it.
Thanks a lot Obama Delaney
Just to be clear cause I'm a bit confused on this one. We're upset cause ticket prices are too cheap and therefore the commissioner should be fired? Do I have that right? I'm guessing the OP hasnt had the honor of watching too many early round conference games cause they are ALL empty seats watching the game, not just in the B1G.
Hell - watch a few of the early actual NCAA tournament games (noon tip) and you'll see the same damn thing. The games are timed for TV audiences and to minimize game overlap - not for increased actual attendance.
approves this message.
Will be there tomorrow. Love having BTN in our package so I can gorge on Wolverine Football, Basketball and Hockey. DC to Ann Arbor is actually a very easy drive (502 miles, virtually all on Turnpikes) so easy to make a few football games a year. Have tons of Maryland alum friends - they are thrilled to be in the B1G. Rome wasn't built in a day. I'm a huge fan of the eastward B1G expansion
But, yea, outside of MD fans and alums in the area, who would go to these games in the middle of a Thursday afternoon?
Gone: Syracuse, UConn
Sucky: Georgetown, St. John's
Small fanbases: The rest
I'm sure Villanova fans will show up in large numbers, but they're off tonight.
Maryland resident here. Taking my children to see their first Michigan basketball game ever, very happy with our $6 tickets.
Taking my son to his first M BBall game, though have been to the NCAA tournament soccer game at UMD and football bowl game. Hope to be able to do the same with my daughter on Friday, when she'll also be able to go.
This is only tangentially related, but a question just occurred to me. How old is old enough to be worth bringing your kid to a basketball game? Is it a different age for football? Hockey?
My son is 3, and we just took him to his first basketball game last weekend at Nebraska (We currently live in Kansas). He loved it, and was super excited to see 'Mitch-again' in person after seeing them on TV so many times.
...newborn.
How does this compare to normal Big Ten Tournament opening-round games?
My thought is that it's going to be difficult for anyone to make a game scheduled at the last minute, held in the middle of a weekday, at a neutral site. It's not surprising to me that first-round tickets are dirt cheap, no matter where it's held.
Maryland has been a good add all around IMO. It provided a nice outlet for Harbaugh's coaching tree in football, Durkin well have them respectable very soon. Rutgers has added a nice bad guy, someone we can all point at and laugh without having to clarify football or basketball. It's helped open up New Jersey for Michigan recruiting. The motivation may have been off, but the result hasn't been bad.
affordable tickets f-in SUCK! Living in DC I was hoping for at least $75 seats, but this is an outrage.
I paid $90 for upper deck in Indy for the Friday game against Indiana which was a noon game last year.
Therefore I decided to "get sick" tomorrow at ~11:00 then head over to BW3 for some wings, potato wedges and a veritable plethora of beers.
This plan costs way more than $6 but way less than a flight from Detroit to DC so there ya go. Also, more TVs to catch other games.
Apparently the ACC is also run by idiots. You can see Syracuse v. MIami and Duke v. Clemson today or Vtech v. Wake Forest and UVA v. Pitt tonight for $6.

Oh, and the PAC 12 (https://www.stubhub.com/pac-12-tournament-tickets-2017-pac-12-mens-basketball-tournament-3-9-2017/event/9703305/)
BIG 12 (https://www.stubhub.com/big-12-tournament-tickets-2017-big-12-basketball-tournament-3-8-2017/event/9718114/) and
are all run by idiots too.
Retract it, and go home. Great fact based post
The ACC is only following the market that the B1G set, therefore Delany should still be fired.
The moral of this story is that logic and facts are tremendous and important... unless they are in defense of Jim Delany.
I went the last time the tournament was in Chicago. Some of crappy weekday daytime games had probably only 5000 people there. Not sure this is a poor reflection of having the tournament in DC (even though I would personally prefer that it rotates throughout the midwest).
Show your kids the monuments, cherry blossoms, and Michigan basketball. Always look on the bright side...
The first round games in the BTT are maybe half full if you are lucky. What's the difference if you sell them 5 dollars or 500? If you have a chance for people to scoop up tickets and make it a great atmosphere, why wouldn't you?
I didn't see any for less than $90.
What am I doing wrong here?
(I followed the StubHub link)
not sure why
In that case, why can't BIG use the Bayclays Center, the Brooklyn Nets homecourt?
not really worth anything- liitle bit of ncaa tourney seeding reshuffling maybe. money grab for broadcast rights. attendance is no big deal.
have it anywhere you want
how about LA?- good weather this time of year
omaha would be good for nebraska and iowa
Great example of Michigan fans just finding something to complain about.
