BU should be pissed about this. Sioux Falls is only a 2.5 hour drive from UNO and 3.5 from the Twin Cities. Regardless of who they get assuming they beat RIT, they'll be a functional road team.

I see a lot of uninteresting…

I see a lot of uninteresting matchups . . . the B1G West sucks so much, a fitting way for it to die.

I wouldn't wish that on…

I wouldn't wish that on Sherrone.

Every Henderson carry is a…

Every Henderson carry is a play that they didn't attempt to throw it to Harrison Jr. I'll take it.

Reed was a beast in the…

Reed was a beast in the first half! Any word on why he didn't play at all in the second half?

There is not a single team…

There is not a single team in the B1G with a better SP+ offense than defense. That is both remarkable and completely unsurprising.

It still remains a mystery…

It still remains a mystery to me how anyone actually believed the deflategate B.S. I'm no fan of the Patriots, but that may have been the most heavily fabricated prosecution in the history of sports. Forget the fact that actual scientists who recreated the scenario found the claims bogus, hundreds of ELEMENTARY SCHOOL science experiments got press for showing the Patriots' balls from that game were within the expected PSI given the environmental conditions.

Alright guys I have to chime…

Alright guys I have to chime in - I now teach at Augustana. Last week when you mentioned it I chuckled to myself and thought that was the last I'd hear of Augustana on the HockeyCast for the year. Since you are now going to track them, I'll offer up a couple things.

First, you're pronouncing it how it looks, but the locals say it's pronounced Aug-uh-stan-uh, like Stan from South Park. It's affectionately known as Augie around here.

Second, I was in attendance for both games this weekend, and I can confirm that the crowd did in fact 'explode' for goals - nothing like the Michigan-UMass game I watched on TV Friday night!

Third, if you're in need of a fun fact, here's one: the Vikings are not yet playing in their permanent home arena. The on-campus Midco Arena is still under construction, slated to be finished in January. The plan is for their first 5 home games to be played at the arena of the local USHL team (where this weekend's games were) before playing the 'true' home opener later this year.

Michigan has been running…

Michigan has been running out the clock from the first quarter on.

We're driving up to the Twin…

We're driving up to the Twin Cities from South Dakota this afternoon. Living in SD now we don't get to many games, so it's worked out well to get to Nebraska and Minnesota this year. This will be my first game at Minnesota since they played in the Metrodome!

Tschetter was +8 in 6…

Tschetter was +8 in 6 minutes despite the atrocious charge call. Williams was -12 in 21 minutes. That’s . . . Quite a difference in a 1 point game. When Williams came back in with 5 minutes left I just had a sinking feeling we would lose.

The thing that makes that…

The thing that makes that stat even more incredible is that the only "miss" was actually the blocked kick against Indiana.

Whatever . . . frankly the…

Whatever . . . frankly the way both Cade and All left has completely turned me off to rooting for them as players. I'm not wishing for them to do poorly, I just won't be pulling for them. It did strike me as interesting that neither of them seemed to be involved with the team at all following their injuries. Some folks said that's normal for an injured player to not be around the team/disengaged, but I present you with counter-evidence in the form of one Ronnie Bell. Those who stay . . .

I think Dug will be pretty…

I think Dug will be pretty rough this year, but the future is pretty bright with him I think. Kobe is the real deal. His ability to get deflections and steals has come as a complete surprise after a freshman year where he looked completely lost defensively. Offensively, he reminds me a bit of Poole, without as good a 3 point shot. That may come around, and it's often forgotten how insanely streaky Poole was as a shooter in college. If Jett can get to below average on defense, he's a massive plus player. Hunter is Hunter. Terrance is quite the enigma. Some games, it seems like he's everywhere doing all the little things that help a team win, and others he's a complete non-factor. The bench as a whole is pretty disappointing.

One thing I haven't seen anyone discuss yet is that while the game itself was awful, Arizona State doesn't really look like a bad loss anymore. They're 10-1 and 38th in Kenpom, so right now that's a quad 1 loss on a neutral court - not the anchor everyone has made it out to be. Functionally, Michigan has no bad losses . . . but no good wins. I agree that they really need the North Carolina game, but I don't have high hopes on the road there even though North Carolina is in quite the rut themselves.

I would argue Charles…

I would argue Charles Matthews had more of an impact as a basketball transfer at Michigan than Duncan Robinson. Robinson has turned into the better pro.

2 things that stuck out from…

2 things that stuck out from recent receivers:

- Crazy that Bell only has 6 receiving TDs.

- By god were Nico Collins and DPJ underutilized.

House of the Dragon has…

House of the Dragon has vastly exceeded my expectations - and this is coming from a book reader. Like others have said the end of Game of Thrones was very disappointing, but here we're not going to run out of source material, and the way Fire and Blood (the book it's based on) was written, they have quite a lot of room to play with what actually happened (there are conflicting accounts of history in the book). I can maybe see that it caters more towards the hardcore fans than the general audience, which may explain why some aren't liking it.

I hate banning the shift…

I hate banning the shift. You should be able to play your defenders wherever you want, in my opinion. 4 man outfield? 2 man outfield? 4 players on the first base side of second base? Why not? People act like the shift is somehow cheating, but putting defenders where the ball is more likely to be hit just seems like good strategy. And every shift has inherent major weaknesses that can be exploited as well.

As for the robo-umps, it's about goddamn time. Nothing is more frustrating than blown calls in crucial moments of the game. Even if an umpire is great with balls and strikes, say 95% accurate, that means they're still missing 15-20 calls a game, and depending on where those happen can totally swing the outcome. It will be nice that no one can argue about it anymore either.

I'm really not a fan of 2-10.

I'm really not a fan of 2-10.

Second on Finch for CotY…

Second on Finch for CotY. The Timberwolves turnaround has been pretty remarkable this year, with basically the exact same roster as last year. Maybe Pat Bev really does make that much of a difference? I highly doubt he's really worth 20ish wins by himself.

I watched that whole game,…

I watched that whole game, and I think you're making the argument backwards. With how Towns was playing (rather recklessly) and being officiated (which is a whole different discussion, I honestly think Towns gets one of the worst whistles in the league because he whines so much), he was clearly going to foul out no matter what. Why not maximize the minutes you get from him?

Interestingly enough, his 6th foul with just under 8 minutes left was the turning point in the game. The Timberwolves went on a 13-2 run and never looked back.

This is the right answer…

This is the right answer. Just play an extra quarter of regular football.

This is an incredibly weak…

This is an incredibly weak look for Doncic. You’re up big and get rattled by a bench player getting excited enough to go after him while he’s walking away? Charmin soft.

And no, I’m not saying Wagner should be flexing in that situation either, but the appropriate response is to laugh and say “scoreboard”

I would have preferred…

I would have preferred playing this version of Georgia’s offense. Alabama isn’t making them fumble without being touched, false start repeatedly, and take delay of games.

Zeb and Kobe are very…

Zeb and Kobe are very similar players, I see one of them emerging over the other to soak up the backup 2 and maybe some minutes at the 3. I will say, watching the game in person last night in Lincoln, the athleticism of those two and Frankie absolutely pops in comparison to our starting guards. The potential is there if they can reign it in.

Edit: The two posts above beat me to this exact point.

I’ve been critical of Devonte Jones fouling too much, but good lord BOTH calls against him were absolutely hot garbage.

Hey Minnesota, I'll lose to Bowling Green for half what he's making!

Titus & Tate is good for…

Titus & Tate is good for national hoops, and is often pretty B1G focused, as Mark Titus is (gasp) an Ohio State alum. Despite that, they actually tend to have had a pretty positive view of Michigan for the last several years, and Duncan Robinson has been a guest on a few occasions.

I also really enjoy the Moving Screen, even if it's 50/50 UM/MSU.

I live in Omaha, so I have a…

I live in Omaha, so I have a first hand account of the reaction here . . . and it is exceptionally salty. 90% of people who I've talked to about the game (my neighbors/coworkers all know I'm a Michigan fan) is that they absolutely won and had the game stolen from them by a high level officiating conspiracy.

I've brought up the offsides on Cade's interception, the illegal formation touchdown, the late substitution touchdown, the complete lack of holding calls on their LT, etc. but they are still convinced that the officiating gave us an unfair advantage. I've even heard that the B1G has fixed it for Michigan to win to this year (seriously!) and that Nebraska needs to leave the B1G to get fair officiating (ironically, they said the same thing when they left the Big 12).

Generally, I've learned to like the Nebraska fans, and generally root for Nebraska against the rest of the conference. This week though, it's been insufferable.

We live in Omaha, so I will…

We live in Omaha, so I will be taking my 7 year old son to his first Michigan football game! He's even more excited than I am (and I haven't been to a game in-person since we moved here).

Came here to say the same…

Came here to say the same thing. I think the fanbase had a very bad taste in our mouth about the way he left . . . but he just seems like a legitimately awful person. The fact that he had spent so much time on Harbaugh staffs is still concerning to me.

I wasn't on the site much…

I wasn't on the site much over the last year, can someone fill me in on what happened? I enjoyed Ace's work.

Couldn’t agree more with…

Couldn’t agree more with this sentiment. The Last Jedi was a good movie as a stand alone, but did not fit at all with the rest of the story. Unpopular opinion: if someone had no knowledge of Star Wars and was only going to watch one film, I would recommend Rogue One.

@Indiana scares me a bit too, not because of Indiana, but it will be coming off 1 day of rest following a huge game with Iowa. It really all comes down to beating Illinois.

This Michigan run has…

This Michigan run has coincided with the referees deciding not to call offensive fouls on UCF’s bullshit flops.

I was going to post this…

I was going to post this same thing. Dax consistently jumps to try to let the ball hit him in the chest - it happened on Rutgers’ first big pass of the game as well as on his INT. On the first one it was almost as if he didn’t know the WR was there, had he attacked the ball it would have easily been a pick, if not broken up. He did the same thing in the Indiana game on the pass Hawkins broke up before it got to him. I’m curious if that’s a coaching issue, or just something he instinctually does, as it seems so common.

I now live in Nebraska, and…

I now live in Nebraska, and locally the 3 University of Nebraska system campuses are referred to as UNL (Lincoln), UNO (Omaha), and UNK (Kearney). If you just say University of Nebraska it’s assumed you’re talking about the Lincoln campus.

I'll up the ante - rewrite…

I'll up the ante - rewrite season 8, but you have to keep the first 3 episodes the same. I think it got lost in the insane race to the finish that those episodes were actually . . . . good? Episode 2 of season 8 might have been my favorite individual episode of the entire series. I still think if seasons 7 and 8 had been 20 episodes instead of 13, and the writers didn't just stop giving a fuck, it could have been very good, even though it clearly went into a tailspin as soon as they diverged significantly from ASOIF. We're never getting those books, and I've only recently come to peace with that.

It would be awful if this is how X and Teske have their careers end. Not that I think they should ignore public health risks, it’s just a shame.
