1. Cheer Up Sister Jean
starts at 1:00
A Pittsburgh left is a social custom to allow a left-turner to get out of everyone’s way. Really as soon as Duncan Robinson gets his sixth point it’s all good. Some weird lineups for the bulk of this game, though not crunch time—none of them were two bigs. Wagner’s amazing game was as defensive as offensive. Z…uh…came in late. C.J. Baird is the greatest player who ever lived!
2. Villanova Preview: They’re Really Good.
starts at 24:25
Why were they so wide open vs. Kansas? It’s like they thought Villanova was going to be five Tum-Tums. Watching different games to get a feel for Nova because we presume Michigan is going to defend them in a way that makes any kind of sense. Brunson may not be a huge NBA prospect but as a college player he is unguardable—a point guard who can post. Everyone shoots well from three. Their Bridges is better than MSU’s Bridges. Theory of geometric progression says Michigan due for another A&M game. Defensively they rank about where Loyola does—make your three pointers and you can make it a game.
3. Gimmicky Top Five: Great Postseason Performances
starts at 42:10
Top postseason performances by players that we remember—sorry Craig but guys named Gustav in nineteen dickety-two don’t rate. The GOAT in the Orange Bowl versus a bunch of murderous defensive linemen and a terrible secondary. The nuts game. The Shot. The little guy. The big man. The Champ (Ace was two so we kind of broke the rules). Stick around for honorable mentions!

No segment four but we’ll probably have an extra podcast this week to discuss whatever happens tomorrow night.

Or you know, just, you know score six points Duncan. Just score six points. By the way. You know we may be testing it a little bit. If that happens and Michigan wins the national championship, that is going in the stupid stat hall of fame. And I will love and appreciate that stupid stat—I will cherish that stupid stat. It will be my favorite stupid stat.
In Boston, this is called banging a left... and the person turning left does not wait for the courtesy of somone "allowing" them to turn left, they just "bang" the left ahead of the oncoming traffic, basically daring the oncoming guy to hit them. You lean to anticipate the move so you don't hit someone else as they bang a left in front of you. It's very common, to the point that if you DON'T bang the left, the people backed up behind the guy turning left are honking...
this was referred to as a 'Bronx Left' when done without the approval of oncoming traffic.
When we came back from 14-3 at the half and beat USC. For a glorius moment, Bo had excized all of the demons. I have my ticket to that game set in a block of lucite. It was for me even better then the 1998 MNC Rose Bowl.
Greatest sporting event ever in my life was 1969 Michigan-Ohio State. Looking back this was the height of Bo's ENTIRE life winning that game, I would not trade 3 National Championships 1970-1972 for that one game. He was only 40 years old and had an attack within a month after the game, I do not think any coach EVER poured as much into one game.
Back in 1969 Ohio State had the first fans I ever saw that ALL dressed in team colors. I was a boy scout usher and 20,000 OSU fans were in their seats early doing Buckeye chats because they just knew Ohio State on a 20 something win streak, number 1 in the country, a team beat Michigan 50-14 the year before and who many said should play the Colts in the Super Bowl were expecting a win. Reminds of the game tonight: Michigan will bring a top 4 defense, an effective offense into a game where everyone expects 'Nova to win, to the point yes I heard on the Morning Roast podcast "maybe they should play the Warriors or the Rockets". Hearing you are going to win every minute until a late 8:20 PM CST start is the worst poison on earth, I expect Coach B and Michigan to win.
How much does a person have to drink to shoot double birds and scream F%%$#k Jean at a camera?
Obviously not enough to pass out drunk and miss the opportunity, sadly. An asshole is an asshole regardless of booze intake.
Since this is the last game for Robinson, I think as soon as he gets in the game he should be in 3 -4 pick n rolls. Might as well test the theory early.
It's a very Michigan meme.
I have an irrational love for the song Praise You. GO BLUE
First time I ever heard it was in a great Jordan commercial in like '98-'99. It was such a great ad.
... here's an excerpt from an Athletic article about him prefering to go that way. Some of the issues with him seeming to always go right earlier in the season might have been trying to follow coaching.
https://theathletic.com/245539/2018/02/18/john-beilein-michigan-ohio-st…
This season, between Charles Matthews and Jordan Poole, Beilein has key pieces who tend to drive with their left hand. Ideally, he’d prefer the offensive set, not their instincts, to decide if they go left or right. That development hasn’t come yet, though. When it comes to the here-and-now, Beilein could either fight those tendencies in some Sisyphean coaching struggle or change course and adjust to his players.
I would estimate he drives left 70% of the time. C'mon Ace, I thought you chart this stuff!
The kaiser stole our word for 'twenty', I chased that rascal all over but gave up after dickety-two miles
I know it was a loss (the block was clean! and Hancock the Mountain Man fouled out!), but how can Spike's performance vs. Louisville miss even an honorable mention?
Agreed, his first half performance in that game was one of the most memorable and enjoyable viewing experiences for me as a fan.

Some pretty impressive performances, but take a moment to appreciate that Austin Carr is 8th on the list, despite playing 3 games!

I first encountered the premature left turn when I was in the Army and driving in Philadelphia, so I always called it a Philly left. That's also when I learned a Philly cheese steak is not steak.
