The Journey At The Big Ten Tournament Comment Count

The Journey has discovered the word "ass," and it is good. That single concession has opened up a large world of coach and player talking from which to draw from, and the result is a hagiographic documentary series with a bit of a harder edge. They documented every Big Ten Tourney game; here are those that Michigan participated in.

IOWA

Yes, the plane is still a thing. Make sure you catch the Simpson death stare riiiight at the end.

NEBRASKA

Hard Edge Tim Miles, yo.

MICHIGAN STATE

"THEY DON'T KNOW"

PURDUE

Beilein and Painter seem to have a real mutual affection.

(I still think calling the series "The Journey" is something a Hallmark exec would reject as too treacly. Is it too late to call it "The Journey, Ass"? Why did everyone suddenly go quiet? LOOK ME IN THE EYE.)

I would rather play basketball for Beilein than Miles. Those clips of him vs what we see out of Beilein are, different.

I also like that they did a flashback to last years BTT and the plane incident.

Nobody is going to want to see is in their region. Can't wait to see this team make some more noise in March!

Go Blue!!!

When you're winning, all those problems - recruiting, development, legal woes, scandal - it can all be ignored.  But when you do you're only as good as your last win, and the swamp gets deeper the further into the rear-view mirror that win recedes.

We are fortunate to have the coaches we do.  Take a long hard look at the coaching picture being painted so starkly between us and MSU, and hopefully we'll remember that in the doldrums when the team is still gelling and we're struggling.

The team that produces The Journey amazes me with every episode I watch.  It makes me smile, makes me sympathetic and empathetic, makes people cut onions in the room I'm watching, and makes my enemies worth rooting for.

I hurt for Miles and his kids, Painter and his kids, and wish them all the best.  I smile for the kids that wear the block M, and breath deep as they remember last year (I fly A LOT and understand).

And as of right now, I want nothing more than 6 more wins to chronicle.

LET'S GO!

The VERY best thing is that BTN clearly knows that when MSU slaps the floor, they immediately die.  They literally use that as the turning point from "Michigan struggling" to "Michigan kicking the shit out of MSU" in that clip.  Absolutely slayed me.

Loved those. Loved coach giving Mo a hard time, loved Mo messing up the pump up talk, loved Beate coming to NYC, loved the players celebrating with their parents, what a great moment.

I love that Bridges passed up going to the NBA and making millions to get punked twice by Michigan. Once at Breslin and once when it really mattered in the B1G Tournament. That's got to sting.

Very cool watching those clips and seeing the players' family reactions! Also that young Michigan fan at 5:24 in the Championship game was hilarious! I can't see the Teske jam enough. Go Blue!

Teske hits the jumper, the Purdue radio audio says "WHO knew that he would be their star in this first half?"...

...immediately cuts to slow sip of coffee from JB.

Amazing.
