For All Fans Who Want A New OC, Who Did You Have In Mind?
I keep seeing comments about how Harbaugh needs to go out and find the next Don Brown but for offense. It is my opinion that Don Browns don't grow on trees and are pretty hard to come by. So, is there a specific coach that any of you have in mind or are you all just talking out of your asses?

Wasn't the original plan that Dreveno get the SJS HC job, Fisch ascend to OC (keep the Qb's) and WR coach was a guy Oregon stole (Wille Taggert stole). If UCLA axes Mora, likely they want an established coach so Fisch could be available again. He would be the first choice, although I like Troy Walters at UCF (not sure his loyalty to Frost or desire to go to Lincoln with him).

We don't need a staff change on offense. We just need players to develop and gain experience. WR/TEs are mostly underclassmen. The QB is obviously a big problem and the OL is lacking depth and experience as well. The staff is fine. It's time to realize that there was a big hole from last year's offensive seniors and what this year is.

This.... a million times this. Unforgivable at the highest level.
It has to be Drevno or Harbaugh btw.

Jedd Fisch, Sterlin Gilbert (USF), Eli Drinkwitz (NC State), Kevin Johns (WMU, formerly of IU), Jake Spavital (WVU), Sonny Cumbie (TCU).
Fisch and Johns are my faves.
Edit to add Matt Canada (LSU)

I like these threads. (Harbaugh literally went online as part of finding Don Brown in 2016.) Last year, I mentioned Jeff Scott (Clemson), but he has long-standing ties to the Clemson community. So how about Eric Morris? He's been the OC at Texas Tech for three years (following the departure of Sonny Cumbie). During those three years, Texas Tech's offense has been ranked #1 (2015), #4 (2016), and #5 (2017) in S&P+. He coached WRs under Mike Leach at Washington State and was a receiver (and punt returner) who played for Mike Leach at Texas Tech. He makes $550,000/yr, is quite young and probably won't be handed the keys to a HC position for a while, and could come in as co-OC and passing game coordinator, and coach our WRs.

Would seemingly help with recruiting the state of Texas as well. Would he come up north though?

you have to consider his new 5 yr / $5M contract. will likely tie him to UM for quite a while.
With that salary, any non power 5 offer would be quite a step down. The reported San Diego State courtship would only have paid him half his UM salary.
I agree that he is the weak link on the offensive coaching staff, with a noncreative NFL like power running game. And he doesn't have the recruiting chops to attract the horses he needs.
He is a life long OL coach, with only a 2/3 year stint as OC at San Diego State. And that was 11 years ago.
Add in the lack of noticeable OL development after 3 years.
I have a feeling that Harbaugh's success will be tied to Drevno, for better or for worse until death do us part ;o)

Why would Drevno's inability tOT: ESPN Cancels Barstool Van Talk After One Episodeo get another job mean we would have to keep him?

If UM wants to move on, they would probably have to honor that contract. They did with Hoke. I couldn't find any details on early termination from UM's side.
On Drevno's side, he is free to leave whenever he wants at the end of a season.

Actually, seriously: Troy Walters from UCF. Would be great with the young receivers.

Not ready to dump Drevno he is only on year 1 as OC and it's not just him calling play.
Hire topnotch WR & RB coaches

Any coach who can run a spread will do—with a few decent assts. Must be a few hundred good ones we could get for Drevno Hamilton and Jay Harbaugh’s salary. Chip Kellys available. So is the guy who followed him at Oregon. Not rocket science Junior

"Chip Kelly lol jk"
If he were willing to take a step down to OC I'd be all for it. Forget what happened in the NFL. He's a college guy. His teams put up some big numbers. Add that with a Don Brown defense...

Two NFL coaches on one staff. If anyone has the payroll to do it - it's Michigan.
