Anonymous B1G players speak on Michigan
I know ESPN or another outlet routinely does one of these every preseason but Zach Shaw from 247 surveyed some opposing players about M:
“We won more games last year, we won more games the year before that and we won more games the year before that. That’s all I’m going to say and to be honest I think that’s all I need to say.”
There's a 127% chance this is an MSU guy.
Not all responses lacked respect, though:
“What they did last year proved that they deserved this recognition, being in the top five and whatnot. And when we went against them they beat us, and beat us bad. I’m excited for the game and I’m excited to go back to Ann Arbor, one of my greatest football memories was going to Ann Arbor and beating them. But that’s a very, very different Michigan team than what they have now.”
RESPKEKTTTTTT
is maryland the other one?
“They fought their hearts out on every play, and I think that’s one thing you can always say about Michigan — that it’ll be a dogfight every time.”
For me, this is the highest compliment an opposing player could pay. I'm afraid this sentiment was lacking before Harbaugh arrived.
Here's hoping this is what all opposing players feel by the end of the season.
IMO that statement was not true between 2004 and 2014.
didnt they beat us a couple years ago in a shootout?
/ducks
nevermind, that was 2008.... wow time flies
staee butthurt is EPIC!!! coach diantonio is teaching them well in how to whine!
Rutgers beat UM in NJ, not AA.
Goven how many UM fans were in that stadium and how few Rutgers people were, I can get how the player would be confused.
First could be OSU I guess but more likely state.
Second one isn't Rutgers because they don't come to AA this year.
Could it be Maryland? That's pretty scary to say, but they beat us in 2014.

We barely won that game last year.
And we don't play them this year.
I think that was one of the easiest ones to figure out. It was their first game in the Big House and only one that fits the description (beat us at Michigan Stadium in 2014, blown out in 2015, and still on the schedule in 2016).
they hate us, but they don't make snarky comments like that.

That first comment could have been from either MSU or OSU. Pretty safe to say neither of them like us much. Feel free not to become so obsessed with little brother to lose sight of the team we truly care about beating.

I prefer beating both and winning the national championship
I wouldn't go so far as to say I'd like to lose to either. Let's just keep our eye on the prize. Focusing on MSU's disrespekt complex does little save indulge in the occasional shadenfreud. If I had to measure UM against another football program in the B1G, it'd be OSU hands down, not State.
I agree with the Property brothers!! both!!
I care about beating MSU though
Maybe, but I think OSU has a better view of the rivalry than MSU. OSU players will talk, but when it comes to a lack of national respect it's ALWAYS MSU.
Every single time MSU. They do some serious whining.
The second one is Maryland. We played them at home two years ago apparently and kicked their ass last year.
Yep. Replied to a comment above and now see this.

You're either with us or against us, and everyone in the B1G that isn't Michigan is against us. Let 'em fill with hate, this is going to be a fun season.
Beat the dogshit out of MSU.
No matter what. It's time to put those cocky little bitchz back in their place.
They managed to climb to the top at our weakest moments.
They'll need to stay on the juice to hang with Harbaugh's teams that's all I can say.

Beating MSU will not shut them up. Michigan wins were never by enough points - they'd point out some notion about hanging around with us, or that we didn't appear dominant. And if it wasn't for that holding call and that fumble and that lucky interception they would have won.
That's fine by me. I really don't care what they think but it will be fun to watch them retreat back to that vs gloating about beating some of the weakest Michigan teams ever.
Yes.
They had a stretch in the 1960's (Bubba Smith era) that featured some relevant teams. Then there was 1987 with a roided-up unit against a transitional Big 10 that had them slugging it out with Indiana - INDIANA - for the Rose Bowl.
That's it until their modern run of success.
Forget which year but pretty sure they won the Big Ten but UM went to the Rose Bowl cause MSU wasn't allowed to go.
1978. Beat us that year w Kirk Gibson. Probation?
Yeah, one year won't cut it with Sparty. Got to put together a string of 7 or 8 wins so they can think of the "glory days".

I feel weve let the children down. There is almost an entire generation of kids sporting State gear who would otherwise be Michigan fans if not for the last 8 years. We have doomed them to a lifetime of rooting for an inferior product.
