Looking ahead to uniforms…

Looking ahead to uniforms for next week - Michigan is going to have a maize out and many are thinking that we’ll be going all maize for the occasion as PSU didn’t let Michigan do that last year. Anybody think that Michigan may do maize jerseys with blue pants for the first time then? A lot of recruits have posted pictures in that combo and I think it looks pretty good. If they don’t do that, I hope they go all blue over all maize. All blue with maize out looks amazing

It's because it's been…

It's because it's been confirmed that Michigan offered as a ATH designation. And because while he's racking up a ton of stats at the high school level, his mechanics are really off as a QB and probably won't fly in college

I think it's based on his film from last year. It may go up if they see him again this year and I believe Allen Trieu is planning on evaluating him as an ATH in the future.

I'm wondering where Michigan sees him. WR or Safety seems most likely

Doubt it. He entered the portal well after the May 1 deadline

I'd love to land him, but he's likely going to Bama. I also think Michigan is probably done at DE with Acheampong, Etta, and Koumba. (Not counting Harbor as DE anymore since he wants to play WR)

Collier hinting at more international commits this week. Possibly 23 LB Kofi Taylor-Barrocks who Michigan has not offered yet or 24 LB Justin Okoronkwo who does have a Michigan offer

Of note, it seems that Beigel is going to be playing in the US in the future at former school of current Michigan player Tristan Bounds. So he should get some more development playing against US players before he gets to Michigan

I think 20-40 is the sweet…

I think 20-40 is the sweet spot (especially when you're sitting around corners or ends). It's close to the field, but is also high enough that you can see on the opposite side of the stadium fairly easily. But really no bad seat in the big house.

They're aligned around the…

They're aligned around the stadium. So row 56 is the same everywhere

I think they compared him to…

I think they compared him to Ojabo due to his heritage. But with his size, he may end up more along the Hutchinson role instead.

Just a 247 quirk. No idea…

Just a 247 quirk. No idea why but amusing nonetheless. I would laugh if prospects became “5 beer” players

Looks like recent crystal…

Looks like recent crystal balls have him going to LSU. So it sounds like it's not a NIL thing either (unless LSU is throwing out more money than Miami which I doubt). LSU has picked up 5 prospects in the last couple days and they're really on a roll.

Well if they got Nyckoles…

Well if they got Nyckoles Harbor then they would get one for both!

I'm a little bit more…

I'm a little bit more optimistic because he moved his timeline from last Friday. He wasn't swayed immediately by the NIL deal Miami was offering

I wouldn't look at his star…

I wouldn't look at his star rating. He's a 6'7 250lb DE who can really move. He hasn't actually played since his freshman year, but he's got athletic traits that jump out. So a super high boom or bust kind of prospect. Also, I just realized he's a 4* on composite and 3* on 247. That's my mistake

I get what you're trying to…

I get what you're trying to say because I like upsets as much as the next guy, but college football has moved so far away from what it was in just the last 10 years. Some of this is on the Pac 12 and Big 12 for not adjusting to reality of the situation. Even when Nebraska was added some 10 years ago to the Big Ten, everyone warned that this is the beginning of super-conferences. This got even worse when ESPN/Fox began taking sides and siding with specific conferences. And even more so with limited playoffs with Pac 12 consistently as the odd one out. With the big moves of Texas, Oklahoma, USC, and UCLA, the dominoes for that are falling and falling fast. I hope for Cal's sake that it can survive this. But I think the super conferences are inevitable and anyone who is not in one is going to be demoted to a "Group of 5" status.

My biggest question now is how big are these conferences going to get. If it's large enough, we may end up with sub-conferences under Big Ten/SEC which ultimately looks the same as it is now, with the different sub-conferences playing each other in a playoff system for the best spot and then having a "super bowl" of sorts with SEC vs Big Ten.

This is a good article that outlines the money decision in adding USC and UCLA and the issues with adding Oregon and Washington.

FWIW, I approve of the sentiment behind this statement as it is the "right" way of pushing NIL. But ultimately, that does not mean other teams are following that way and continuing in such a way will undoubtedly cause issues with talent accumulation. There is no telling when the market will normalize with NIL and it is important for the university/athletic department to ensure that they don't fall behind in a rapidly changing climate

Really solid WR who has had some good camp performances lately. Most notable knock on him is his track speed but Moore states that his most recent track time is from his sophomore year and he is much faster now. Of note, during one camp, he performed well against Jyaire Hill who is a CB prospect that Michigan is really high on as well

Moore is committing at 3pm. Bridgeman just said sometime this evening.

The difference between it…

The difference between it being basketball and football has a large part in it. There are fewer elite prospects in basketball and they're definitely still getting paid. But with limited roster spots and the fact that players can leave after 1 year to go pro, teams have to be much more careful about who they're offering the large NIL deals.

Football on the other hand has way more recruits so the effect of NIL is getting diluted down to not just elite prospects but mid-low 4 star prospects (prospects that make up the bulk of Michigan's roster) as well. If you just take Collins for example since he's been a major discussion point this week, he's rated as a low 4 star on composite and a 3 star by 247. No doubt he has a high ceiling, but a player of his current skill level/experience and current rating would never be offered a huge NIL deal in basketball as supposedly what Miami may or may not be offering him in football.

No way. That’s a road game…

No way. That’s a road game for the majority of the conference and a huge boost for its newest members for absolutely no reason. The B1G championships is currently in Indy because it’s a largely central location allowing for most fans to travel to the game. If you’re going to change it then have it be at the home institution alternating between big ten east and west.

He’s listed at 6’4 200 at 247. If the plan is to keep him at Edge, then he must have measured at or better than than listing (at least height wise). I’m sure he will need lots of time to get up to proper playing weight

Looks like he’s great length…

Looks like he’s got great length! Wonder if he’ll end up as an Edge instead by the time he gets on campus

Seems like their fans are confident in their coaching (for good reason) but have questions about their roster. There’s some optimism with their upcoming freshman class but all unproven

He’s likely a PWO commit but no confirmation found anywhere. Rated as a 4.5 star on Kohls kicking. I’m a bit surprised we’re taking 2 specialists but considering that we’re likely losing both Moody and Robbins after this year, I guess it’s important to restock the kicking core

I agree, but wanted to put…

I agree, but wanted to put that there for accuracy. I like Frankie and in time I think he could have been a more athletic version of Simpson, but it would have been crazy to hand him the keys to the offense last year or give him the reigns this year with no backup. Getting llewellyn was important. Supposedly Frankie's transfer has been in the works for a while so maybe this is isn't directly related to llewellyn news and he's upset about something else

Supposedly T-will is…

Supposedly T-will is considering transferring. He has removed a lot of the UM info on his instagram. Bufkin has been a candidate all season so he could be a possibility. Right now, the roster is in a state of flux and looks like this:

Definite (9): Dickinson, Barnes, Tschetter, Jace Howard, Jett Howard, Reed, McDaniel, Glenn, llewelynn

Draft (2): Diabate, Houstan

Maybe return/transfer (3): Collins (declared portal, could come back), Williams (not declared for portal), Bufkin (not declared for portal)

Really good place for him!…

Really good place for him! He can take some carries off of Henry and give a similar power punch. If Willis takes over in the next year or two, their running game should be even more devastating.

Also consecutive drafts with a Michigan draft pick and the highest RB drafted out of Michigan since 2005. Hopefully we keep this streak going in the next 2 drafts with Blake Corum and Donovan Edwards (with them going even higher in the draft).

As of right now, Michigan's…

As of right now, Michigan's non-conference schedule includes UNC in Jumpman invitational, Kentucky in London, and some combo of Arizona St, Pittsburgh, and VCU (who has Zeb Jackson and Brandon Johns) in Legends Classic.

If Diabate and/or Houstan return (or Michigan gets Shannon), I'm hoping that Michigan will have enough experience to win some of these tougher non-conference games and go into the Big Ten season with some momentum.

They're both freaky good…

They're both freaky good athletes. Just going off RAS scores, Hutchinson's agility is better than Walker's. But Walker is faster in straight line speed and marginally more explosive at more weight than Hutchinson. Again all of that means nothing when it actually comes to playing ability which is where game tape is important and where Hutchinson has the edge over both other DE prospects

Walker is a better athlete…

Walker is a better athlete than Aiden, but not necessarily a better prospect. He's a big boom or bust kind of player. His lack of production at Georgia is a big red flag but could also be a product of the other players on the line vs the position he was asked to play (similar to Rashan Gary). Hutchinson is also an excellent athlete by his own rights, but if both hit their best, Walker is likely to be a better player.

Kayvon is also an excellent athlete, but he has some effort concerns and his impact in Oregon really faded last year. Oregon's best win was against OSU and Kayvon didn't even play in that game.

I may be biased, but I like Hutchinson to have the best career out of all them, because he's a force and relentless. He just needs good supporting pieces around him to maximize his impact on the defense. Jags, Lions, and Texans are all terrible franchises but Lions seem to be making some moves that seem positive so hoping that Hutchinson ends up there

For what its worth, I don't…

For what its worth, I don't think Harbor is cutting his list down to just 2 teams. From his documentary, it sounds like USC and Michigan are just his leaders

The part where he talks about it starts at 41:30

Excellent! I don’t expect…

Excellent! I don’t expect him to start but he’ll be valuable to have on the team to add more DT depth. Especially one with experience considering our other backups options are all unproven at the moment.

Maybe he’ll go to UMass and…

Maybe he’ll go to UMass and be Don Browns viper

Most likely he sees that it…

Most likely he sees that it would be easier for him to jump to a bigger program from Michigan (hopefully with continued success) than to rebuild a strong program at WMU and then move up from there
