OT: 49ers look foolish, hire Jim Tomsula
Per Adam Schefter.

He's been with the organization since 2007, and he "won't meddle with personnel decisions," but he has no head coaching experience (unless you include 1 year with the Rhein Fire of NFL Europe and one game as an interim in SF). Smart, San Francisco. Real smart.
But hey, your stupidity is our gain.

Harbaugh
January 14th, 2015 at 6:19 PM ^
Wow-- 49ers brass already looked like clowns for chasing Harbaugh off--but I had no idea they'd follow that up with this sort of ass-clownery.

after The Faithful begin to view going to a 49ers game as a sortie.
Any chance that JMFY (Jed MF York) will be the next Ohio State athletic director?

It's too bad that Tony Sparano didn't get to stay with the Raiders, the Bay Area would have had two of the best moustaches in sports.

York/Baalke must've really wanted a puppet... How does a Dline coach get the HC gig over the DC?
Fangio must be really pissed.
January 14th, 2015 at 6:00 PM ^
Is it just me, or does this kind of feel like their Hoke hire?
Then again, even Hoke had head coaching experience...
January 14th, 2015 at 6:18 PM ^
At least Hoke WAS a head coach when we hired him.. And had had a few really good seasons. This dude is CURRENTLY a d-line coach. Not even a coordinator. This is a total joke of a hire.

I was looking at it more from a "puppet" angle than anything else. Yeah, Hoke was more experienced, but this was a power move on the part of moronic management. Sounds an awful lot like The Process.

Nice analogy. Pond The Rock was assume.

when I was reading your OP, I immediately thought of Hoke when I read "he won't meddle with personnel decisions," .
The way the 49ers operate and this coaching hire, quickly reminded me of Dave Brandon hiring his puppet Brady Hoke. (just feel I have to make a note.. I like Hoke, but we all know, he was a puppet to Brandon as he had no leverage, he wanted the job BADLY!).

"Tomsula will make an excellent coach. He's tops in the league when it comes to wearing a suit to PR events." --Jed York
January 14th, 2015 at 6:39 PM ^
Jed York pushed out Harbaugh because he violated a dress code? What a douche bag. . .
January 14th, 2015 at 6:55 PM ^
Hey gustave, I made up that quote trying to be funny. My apologies if my intent wasn't clear. One of the noted causes of the friction between JH and the Niners was JH not wearing a suit to the opening ceremonies of the new stadium (I believe). Everyone else wore a suit and tie while JH showed up in his khakis and left as soon as he could. Apparently, that did not sit well with the brass, and as we all know, the purpose of professional sports organizations is to look good at PR events. /s
Anyway, again my apologies if I misled you.

Balke just wants to prove how brilliant he is with all the top 5 picks the 49ers are going to get over the next 8 seasons. Say goodbye to the best NFL rivalry of the last 4 seasons.
January 14th, 2015 at 7:03 PM ^
baAlke is overrated...considering many have him as a draft gawd
look at his off picks...esp the early ones - jenkins, lmj, even lattimore
hes gotten some redic good lbs...eric swaze is a walking concussion
