What was your personal Michigan play of the year?
There were obviously a ton of HUGE plays this year, but which one stuck out the most for you? For me, the one "it" play that stands head-and-shoulders above every other play this year is the long pass down the sideline in the ND game with about 10 seconds left to Jeremy Gallon:

It's like he just disappeared altogether and reemerged at the 50 yard line.
Oh, and if anyone could give me a crash course on embedding YouTube videos on this board, I'm all ears =)

the roy roundtree catch on the next play!!
December 24th, 2011 at 7:56 PM ^
Yup! that's the best play of the year!
December 25th, 2011 at 8:07 AM ^
I was watching the game with my lady, and she thinks football is dumb...but im still with her..anyway after the Gallon catch and run I was up and down the floor...she was like "I dont get it?".. When denard threw the pass to Roundtree..I was like "He caught it.".but it wasnt in a 40 year old man voice but my voice had all the markings of an excited 10 year old boy. I was sort of embarrassed but my arms were still raised high staring at the monitor hoping the refs wouldnt overturn the call....she just looks at me and shakes her head and says "You're dumb."

Your girlfriend sounds like a keeper....
Personally, I wouldn't be with a girl that doesn't appreciate or at least tolerate my hobbies. That's gotta be weighing down on you.

the roy roundtree catch on the next play!!
December 24th, 2011 at 4:57 PM ^
what he said
December 24th, 2011 at 3:46 PM ^
Tie between the Courtney Avery INT vs ohio and the Roundtree TD catch vs notre dame.
Basketball would be Darius telling lucas to "Get the fuck off my court!"
And hockey would be.....well just watch and get goosebumps my friends. All I have to say is this is a major reason Michigan won the conference championship in the 2010-11 season.
With less than 5 seconds left in OT...
December 24th, 2011 at 5:17 PM ^
Is there a video of D-Mo telling Lucas to gtfo? I'd love to see this!!

"Denard Robinson takes a knee" against Ohio.
December 24th, 2011 at 3:58 PM ^
My sentiments exactly!
December 24th, 2011 at 4:23 PM ^
this this, so much this.
December 24th, 2011 at 3:54 PM ^
There's no way it can't be Roundtree with 2 seconds left
December 24th, 2011 at 5:22 PM ^
If you were one of the 114,806 at UTL, it was the Roundtree catch that beat ND. What that win did for the program cannot be understated.
December 24th, 2011 at 10:18 PM ^
I'm pretty sure you mean overstated there, but yes, that was a hell of a play.
December 25th, 2011 at 12:06 PM ^
Roundtree's catch sure set the tone for the season so it can't be "overstated" but my vote would be for Koger's winning catch against ohio.
December 24th, 2011 at 3:56 PM ^
December 24th, 2011 at 3:57 PM ^
its hard to argue against the Roundtree catch....but to be different I'm going to go with a tie between Fitz's big TD run to go up big on Nebraska, JT Floyd's nice pick to seal vs. Illinois, or the saftey to take the first lead on OSU since 2006.
December 24th, 2011 at 3:57 PM ^
"And Gallon is wide open, and Michigan's going to score.....Wow"
December 24th, 2011 at 4:01 PM ^
Denard taking a knee against Ohio, for sure. Closely followed by Tree's catch to win UTL. I forgot about the almost-TD by us to go up by even more in the last play of UTL... Man, I hope this winter / spring / summer flies...
December 24th, 2011 at 4:29 PM ^
You saw a young player in Ryan finally figuring things out and a veteran leader in Kovacs cleaning up the play. It was one of those explosive stops that showed that Michigan defense was back- it didn't hurt that the game was also a bludgeoning against a decent opponent. When I think about what was new and special about this season, I will think about that play.
December 24th, 2011 at 4:03 PM ^
Kovacs hit on Carder, last play against ND, Smith screen TD against ND, second to last play against ND, last play against Ohio, Odoms TD against Ohio, a few from the Nebraska game as well. There are so many plays that stick out, it's hard to choose.
December 24th, 2011 at 4:09 PM ^
So many to choose from (no order):
1. Hagelin's goal against Western
2. Roundtree's winner against ND
3. Martavious Odoms's long TD against Nebraska
4. A lot of plays from the Ohio game
For me personally, it'd be between Hagelin and Odoms. Yost went about as nuts as you could that night and it was special to see a senior ctome up big on senior night. Odoms, with all he's been through with the injuries, that catch was huge. It's a tough choice.
December 24th, 2011 at 4:12 PM ^
That was awesome. The Roundtree catch was epic.
This will sound a little strange maybe, but I tried to think of something that was symbolic of the season for me - the final play of the year, the Avery pick. To me, that was an exclamation point on this season and all the improvements, especially in the case of one thing that I greatly missed, which was an opportunistic defense.
December 24th, 2011 at 4:18 PM ^
Thinking outside the box, Touissant's touchdown run against Purdue.
December 24th, 2011 at 4:19 PM ^
Kovac's interception against ND. It was the first time in that game that we finally had a pulse and was a huge turning point.
December 24th, 2011 at 4:20 PM ^
My favorite play of the year was Dave Brandon recovering SDSU's fumble of Brady Hoke, and returning him all the way back to Michigan.
Merry Christmas, MGoBloggers!

TOUCHDOWN!!

Avery's int vs. ohio
December 24th, 2011 at 4:21 PM ^
When Denard took a knee against ohlio.
December 24th, 2011 at 4:27 PM ^
Roundtree getting interfered with and still making the catch against ND to win the game.
Odoms long TD reception vs. Nebraska.
Denard to Koger vs. Ohio.
December 24th, 2011 at 4:30 PM ^
How about the77yd pass to Hemingway when Denard had the ND DL hanging all over him? It wasn't a TD but it got the comeback started.
The Gallon catch followed by Roundtree's catch was an unbelievable sequence.
December 24th, 2011 at 4:42 PM ^
J.T. Floyd's INT vs Illinois. They were starting to make their comeback and he ended it.
December 24th, 2011 at 8:04 PM ^
That was when I think Team 132 announced to the world that this wasn't the same Michigan team of the previous 3 years. When it was crunch time, the D came up huge and we got a big road win against a good D.
I think that play (and the rest of that game) set the tone for stomping Nebraska and then beating Ohio
December 24th, 2011 at 4:53 PM ^
My personal play of the year will be Denard taking a knee to end the game and bring home a Sugar Bowl victory.
December 24th, 2011 at 4:58 PM ^
But anything from the Ohio game!
December 24th, 2011 at 5:01 PM ^
My favorite was actually the broken goal line run against Notre Dame. I believe it was Hopkins on the dive and he fumbled backwards-Denard scooped it up, bounced outside, and scooted in. His quickness on that play was amazing.
December 24th, 2011 at 5:14 PM ^
football: avery INT against ohio
basketball: stu's 3 to beat MSU in EL
hockey: scooter's empty netter to beat north dakota in the semis

Jailbreak screen to Smith to go ahead of ND with 2:00 left
December 24th, 2011 at 5:32 PM ^
I can't narrow it down to any less than 5. These are in no particular order:
1. Brandon Herron 94 INT for TD vs Western
2. ND's D-Line trying to wrap up Denard and bring him down, but unable to do as he gets a pass off to Hemingway who takes off 70-80 yds downfield.
3. RVB sacking Braxton Miller right before the safety.
4. Jordan Kovacs in the Northwestern game drilling Dan Persa and causing his helmet to fly off.
5. Goal line stand against Ohio in the 4th qtr.
December 24th, 2011 at 5:40 PM ^
then the first FG. I could not bare to watch. After these were good, I knew we were going to be okay. Needless to say, it didnt take much to get me excited.
December 24th, 2011 at 5:43 PM ^
Definitely the Gallon wheel route at the ND game. Being at that game with 30 seconds left was a real kick in the pants, especially when we just drove down and scored on the rollout screen pass to take the lead. Then to give the lead up so suddenly was so deflating. Don't get me wrong, the Roundtree catch was awesome, but seeing Denard heave it up and saying "OH MY GOD HE'S OPEN" was unreal. Without that play, we lose the game. Best play of the year

Vs. Ohio
December 24th, 2011 at 6:08 PM ^
Kovacs murdering WVU's quarterback and popping his helmet off. I don't know why, but there was something about it that just made me go "Fuck yeah!"
Also, I was behind the goal posts for our first field goal of the year against EMU. Obviously, I flipped shit.
December 24th, 2011 at 8:35 PM ^
I never did like Geno Smith. I'm glad Kovacs popped him
....wait a second

Last play of the Ohio game
December 24th, 2011 at 6:38 PM ^
UMich didn't have much trouble with EMU, so this wasn't a big-impact play, but I thought Thomas Gordon's one-handed interception was pretty spectacular.
