Village Bell, great spot for drinks on Thursday nights during grad school. Carpeted ceiling and close to sororities. Old German, downtown. Excellent for a dinner date. Reincarnated in basement of Grizzly Peak for a few years, but closed again. Pretzel Bell, also reincarnated but not as good as original.
As a Boomer, I like it and purchased on iTunes when it came out. Pop Evil has had moderate success and has a number of songs in rotation on Sirius/XM hard rock stations.
My memory is fuzzy, but in 2018 didn’t a Circuit Court rule the UM processes being used were illegal? Would that have meant Gibbons and others that received discipline under an illegal process been able to sue the University? Perhaps that happened? Because Gibbons was disciplined under a process that was ruled illegal, it is unfair to assume he deserved his punishment. As we know, the University changed the policy because of the court ruling.
Subsidies and tax credits have been provided by the government since 2005. Enough! Long since time for the technology to stand on its own. Signed, retired Big Oil engineer.
1969 and 1970 in Michigan House West Quad. Freshman year and Sophomore years. First year Michigan House was all freshman since the plan was to have it empty but they had higher admissions, so put all extra freshman in Michigan House. Sophomore year, the fourth floor of Michigan House became the first all male dorm to have a female floor. Good times having ladies living upstairs.
Junior year, 1971. She lived upstairs in a 6 unit apartment building on Geddes. Married 5 years later. Engineers and nurses were primary dating couples.
AA. Lived away since graduation. Relocating in Spring. Retired! Drinking Sweetwater Springbock. Great! Grilling ahi tuna and king salmon from Fulton Street Market. Go Blue!
Student from fall 1969 until summer 1974, so went there as a 21 year old and also after the lowering of the drinking age. Never got a free pitcher and the birthday tradition I recall is different. We would go with a bunch of friends and they would buy the birthday person beers, until 21 beers were consumed. In those days, beers were 10 ounces and 4.5% ABV. Many did not make the 21 beers. For those that made the 21, they got to ring the bell themselves and record their name in a ledger.
Was a student when Pizza Bob’s opened in the early 70s. Always went there after IM hockey games. They had a kind of eating challenge back then, a sub called The Destroyer. Had 8 minutes to eat one. But, not free if you did!
First game of freshman year, September 20, 1969. Blowout win over Vanderbilt and Bo’s first game as coach. The Boone’s Farm Apple Wine was flowing! At least 10,000 empty seats.
My first game ever, was a freshman and had not attended a game before going to school. Remember the Boone’ Farm Apple wine being everywhere, girls being passed up the rows, lots of space in the stands. Nobody knew much about this guy named Bo!
Not many posts related to sports cars. I'm a big fan of Porsches and have owned a few over the years going back to 1983. Currently own a 2012 911 GTS with aero kit. The 911 is being changed to the next of its generation and not a fan of the changes(typical). So, I have the last of the current generation on order for Spring Delivery, which is the last production run. It is a Guards Red turbo, a historic color, but very much out of fashion these days. So excited. Yes, I'm retired. I've seen a poster who owns a GT3, are there other Porsche fans on the blog?
If I’m a paying sponsor, I would not be happy with anything the blog owner does to tick off the blog visitors. Perhaps he’ll get some feedback from them.
Those are the benchmarks. Clemson’s results are impacted dramatically by the great QB play they have had the last three years. Averages are an indicator, but so are game changers at QB and RB. Harbaugh has not put such a player yet on the field in three years. OSU and Penn State have had far superior QB/RBs and that makes a huge difference.
Both Oliver Martin and Tarik Black are RS, so they are like 2018 recruits as far as remaining eligibility. Also, not a fan of a kid committing without even visiting campus.
Anyone that isn’t a criminal and donates money, as Brandon has done for many years and many millions, is OK with me. The more he gets in outrageous compensation the more he might donate.
Michigan could have also lost games to inferior programs, if not for good luck. Minnesota in 2015, a loss if the Gopher WR gets one more yard—goal line stand wins for Michigan. Two OT games at IU. Bottom line is Harbaugh is now even behind Franklin at Penn State. Even though Harbaugh is 2-1 against Franklin, Penn State has won a Big Ten title in year 3, beating OSU, and just schooled Harbaugh on National prime time. Franklin costs half as much as Harbaugh as well, and is not included in the OP metrics, since not considered elite.
I would argue that a coach’s record against rivals and division/conference championships is more important metric of accomplishments. Harbaugh has a very poor record against rivals while at UM and has never won even a division title at Stanford and Michigan over 7 years. David Shaw won the PAC 12 in the second year after Harbaugh’s departure to the NFL.
I was also there with a PSU buddy. The Nits scored their TD late to avoid the shutout. We laughed hard about JoePa going for 2. Listened to the PSU post game shows all the way back to Northern NJ. Great memories?
Perhaps we can get some pre-Red stories of Yost. When I was at school, the team played at the Coliseum and Yost was opened for hockey my junior year in the early seventies. I don't recall free tickets every being given out to students! The student section was located on the same side of the rink as today, but on the opposite side of the player benches. We sat out overnight to get our student tickets. My future wife took care of those tickets for me and my friends. I can still remember playing intramural hockey at Yost and eating subs at Pizza Bob's after games. The players at the time earned a few extra bucks by refereeing the IM games.
Another fairness issue is low salaries, in general, in rural areas of MI versus major cities. Admissions from farming areas may go up, along with more kids from the UP. Admissions have a lot of protected groups, including minorities and undocumented immigrants(that graduate from MI high schools). With two recent changes in admissions polices, undocumented immigrants are now treated like residents for tuition and now can get free tuition as well. Hope the cash cow of OOS students can continue to afford such subsidies.
As much as we all enjoy a good Brandon joke, Bill Martin put the Master Plan together and Brandon/Hackett/Manuel have been finishing those plans. The most costly one by far was Michigan Stadium at well over $225 Million. Designed, approved and completed under Martin.
Last year Wilton started over O'Korn. Wilton had no starts and O'Korn over 10. Wilton won the job. I'm expecting Peters to start. Henne started as a true freshman under Lloyd with only 2 months on campus. Harbaugh will have Peters on campus for 20 months before he would start a game. If Harbaugh can't get Peters, his hand-picked guy, ready to play at a high level, he is not performing as the QB whisperer.
Chartered out of Marathon and caught a 19 pound mutton snapper-great eating. Also, went 20 plus miles out to Marathon Hump for Black fin tuna. Caught 10, lost 10 more. Between 15-25 pounds, so lots of fish to eat!
Destroyer They made an extra large sub back in the early 70's. Think the challenge was to eat the Destroyer in under 8 minutes. Go to place walking back from IM hockey games.
Next Year is Key for Harbaugh to Maintain Performance It can be argued that Hoke's first two years are better than Harbaugh's. But then we all know what happened after that! Hoke went 3-3 vs Ohio, ND, and Sparty. Harbaugh 1-3. Hoke had 11 win season and a major bowl win. Harbaugh had 10-3 and a minor bowl win. Hoke was undefeated at home, but Harbaugh has lost 2. Hoke used RichRod players and Harbaugh used Hoke players in their first two years. Certainly Harbaugh's teams give us much hope for the future, but when are we going to get even an average OL? Harbaugh is the best coach for our program and we will need to be patient.

Yep, 51 for me!
Retired guy. Lucky enough to be getting a 2024 Porsche 911 GT3, late this afternoon. Should be fun!

Freshman year. 1969. 24-12. Bo vs Woody game #1.

Growler of Springbok from Sweetwater in northern VA. They usually have 6-8 beers available by growler. Good stuff.

Have owned 5. Currently a 2019 911 Turbo and waitlisted for a new 911 GT3. This will certainly extend my waitlist period.
Excellent series sweep! Hoping any players that have an Olympics opportunity come back safe and uninjured.

Can't get too excited when we are in the position we are in. If we win the last 2 on the road it will be different. Still are underperforming!!!!
