I think 9-4 does it. I agree with FA that 5 losses won't do it, but 4 losses will. That means we either go 9-3 regular season (which would have us in the top 15 I bet, based on who we play) with a bowl loss, to a good team, or go 8-4 and beat an above average team in the bowl.
The fact that pollsters are high on a handful of our opponents (OSU, PSU, ND, Iowa, MSU) if we only lose 4 games in the regular season, we could be in the top 25 pre-bowls. A bowl win would solidify it.
There shouldn't be, the fires are farther up into the mountains and now that the temp is going down a bit (it was over 100 in most parts of LA country the last 4 days or so) they should start to subside.
I emailed them too. I told them to go fuck themselves.
Not really, but I wanted to. I did, however, tell them that I would be happy to write them a recommendation should they ever decide to apply for a job at TMZ. That part is true.
They return one of the better QB's we'll face all year, a decent running back, and nothing else. I think they lose 10 guys on defense, and they have one CB over 5'10". We should absolutely run them over.
I would expect the lowest days to be weekends. I have a job, where I sit in front of a computer for anywhere between some and all of my day. On the weekends, I rarely open my computer. I may be an extreme example, but I think a lot of the people who read this are doing so while at work. But even when I was a student, I was on the computer more during the week than the weekends. Especially during the summer, people have other shit, mostly outdoor shit, to do.
I'm not saying anyone should do this (disclaimer) but it would be a really good idea for someone to go throw rocks through the windows at the free press. Also, never click on their links again.
Yes, although I've settled with a lady who is very bragable, I've experienced a handful who were doable but not hot by any measure.
Ugly girls are like mopeds: Fun to ride, just don't let you're friends find out you have one.
Wow, that's a pretty horse you ride.
I think you misunderstand why people laugh at this. You keep saying that it's an excuse to make fun of ugly girls, which isn't the case. It's to laugh at ugly girls who are making fun of ugly girls. Pot and kettle, so to speak. To many people (BUT NOT TO YOU!!!!) that's funny.
That's very big of you, but I don't see this as making fun of them for being ugly. I am making fun of them for doing something dumb. IMO, this is analogous to a youtube video of Miss America tripping and falling on her ass. It's the same way we make fun of the Sparty commenters when they say something like "your an idiot." It's funny because it's ironic.
I agree with you, but this situation is different. If Brian posted a picture of three ugly girls wearing "Go PSU" shirts and we were all bashing them for being ugly, I think your point would stand. But for their shirts, they wouldn't be on this blog. We aren't bashing them for being ugly, we are bashing them for being ugly and bashing other girls for being ugly.
In summary: The PSU girls are bashing on looks alone. WE are bashing for hypocrisy. BIG difference.
I think LaLota will be a RVB type end, Wilkins will be a BG type end, Paskorz will deathback and Kinard will play MIKE. None of those positions need more than one guy from this class since there are young guys there. We do, however, need a guy thrown in at MIKE.
Yeah SC only returns a couple starters, but not only are those guys really really good, but the guys taking over for the departed defenders are studs as well. I've heard reports that their LB corps could be better(!) than last year's, and we all know who those guys were. Even though I doubt that to be the case, the fact that it's been thrown around means there shouldn't be much of a drop off, and SC's defense could be half as good as last year and still be one of the best in the country.
Here's what people need to realize: It's 2009 and everyone on the planet has a digital camera, and is probably carrying it with them, whether that's an actual camera or one of their BB/iPhone. If you want to do something "witty" and you pose for a picture, expect it to go around. This isn't an Erin Andrews scenario where they were photographed against their will, they willfully (I imagine) put on the t-shirts, and intended to have their picture taken. They can get pissed at the College of Engineering for posting it on the e-web, but once it hits the net, it's fair game.
If you don't want to get made fun of for being ugly, don't throw on a shirt making fun of ugly girls. Makes sense to me.
I'm not sure if the article mentions this or not, but SC has a scrimmage this Saturday, I would imagine a lot of what happens there will have an effect on who the starter is game one.
Right, and to REALLY convince people, he's playing Sheridan with the first team O and giving him an equal number of snaps. That RichRod is a tricky mother fucker.
That I agree with. And don't get me wrong, I don't want to find out that Sheridan is our best bet. I'm just saying that if he is, it won't be like it was last year. He also has everyone else to rely on this year, which he didn't last year. And even if he is our best option, I don't think he will be after another month, unless he surprises people and plays well. All I'm trying to say is that Sheridan 2009 > Sheridan 2008, probably by a significant margin.
Conventional wisdom agrees with you, but all practice indications agree with me. He just seems better. Plus, he may have known the playbook better than Threet last year, but he was still only 8 months into the offense by the time the season started last year, and now he's been in it for 20, I think that will make a big difference.
When he said "they went to a bowl game and won, albeit a crappy one" I'm pretty sure he's referring to the Bowl, not the opponent. The Hawaii Bowl is not exactly something to write home about, but a bowl nonetheless. That said, beating Hawaii last year also shouldn't be something that The Notre Dame Fighting Irish should see as a particularly big deal.
I agree. Sheridan won't be a star, but I think he'll be noticeably better than last year. Also the OL will be much better. Also the WRs will be much better. Also the RBs will be much better. I'm not excited for Sheridan, but I'm not worried either.
Said no to the donation? Turning down alumni donations can be put on the top of the list of great ways to get yourself fired. I still think you're being way too idealistic about this. If an alumnus wants to donate 100K to pay for his name written in diamonds on the wall of Harbaugh's inner office, he can do it. No matter how poorly said AD is doing at balancing his budget. And the head football coach has no say in it.
I've also heard he's been looking pretty mediocre (at best) so far. The local sports radio around here (Petros and Matt "Money" Smith) have gone to a number of practices and said he has looked very inconsistent and thrown a lot of picks. But since Corp was injured and Mustain has vanished into thin air, he hasn't had any competition. Hopefully he turns it around (or not if you don't like SC), but so far he's been looking pretty weak.
I dig. Took me a minute to figure out where everything is, but I like that I can click on the HS and see the other recruits from that high school, that's pretty easy and convenient. I like that I can see the kid's hometown on a map. Aesthetically pleasing as well. I give it 5 stars.
