So many great players wore

So many great players wore #9. They could retire it for any one of them. My personal favorite, Mel Wakabayashi.

You should know that

You should know that marketing knows nothing about hockey.

As my last name is Spooner,

As my last name is Spooner,  it's ducking felightful.

Fox Sports Detroit

The Big Chill was on FSD. It was picked up by BTN (they used the FSD announcers) but blacked out areas that gets Fox Sports Detroit.

In the past

I have had a lot of sucess with River City Sports. They specialize in NHL stuff (they are based in Toronto, I believe) but they will look at a picture and match the lettering pretty close. I had a Montreal jersey customized to Patrick Roy circa 1993. They even put the Stanley Cup patch from that year on for me.

Talk to the man

I doubt DB is paying any attention to talk on internet chat boards (He has lackeys that might)

You can always write him an email. That is what I did. I have not gotten a response.

Let him know how you fell, one way or the other.

Take the over Take the over on the comments...........
1997 I will go with '97 as well. To go with michigandad, I think that was the year that in a game against Ferris (I think) we went 4 for 4 on our powerplay and scored 2 shorthanded goals on the three Ferris PP's. Yes, we went 2 for 3 on Ferris' powerplay.
This My favorite part of that clip is watching #55 (Dhani Jones?) bury the intended reciever and then use him as a step-stool. Also, is that Brady Hoke congratulating Woodson on the sideline at the end?
Forrest Karr

Karr is a Notre Dame grad.

I agree with the rest of the post, though.

Alaska

I would assume that Alaska has been in the lower 48 for the past week, having played at Notre Dame last weekend. That is their usual M.O.  Fly down for a weekend series, stay down here for a week and play another weekend and then fly home to play one or more series. Minimizes jet-lag, time away from school and flight expenses.

I will take a stab at it.....

Oregon 28 - Aubrun 24.

Just because most everyone thinks it is going to be a real high scoring game.

The other goalie is former

The other goalie is former Providence and then St Cloud State goalie Bobby Goepfert.

Wish Billy could have put up a better fight, but he IS a goalie, so what can you do?

Thanks

I am just trying to get my points up to 100 so that I can start threads like this.............

Football wins are not

Football wins are not transitive.

If X beats Y and Y beats Z does not mean that X beats Z.

Take a look at MSU/Wisconsin/Iowa

My wife has one

She was representing the 2k turnover in Ireland.  She got a little nervous when she realized she would be choosing sides in the whole "Catholic/Protestant" thing they have over there.  Thankfully, no one took an issue with her.

Frolov

With the season he is having, I would not be surprised to see Frolov bolt for the KHL next year.

The Rangers are noted for their lack of sucess with developing prospects. If I were Carl, I would not be happy being in the Ranger farm system.

I was under the impression

I was under the impression that Olympic ice was 200 x 100. (I have never taken out a ruler and measured)  NHL is 200 x 85, so the only difference is width.

I think they did it so that the seats will be 7 and a half feet closer to the action

/s

Nobdy on the field but teams,

Nobody on the field but teams, league and school offcials and a few photographers.  No seats, just fake grass

CD

CD changer?  What is that?

Watch the 1996 Minnesota game

Watch the 1996 Minnesota game where Mike Legg had his most famous goal. There was one point where a Minny player had a wide open net.  Marty slid across to make the save out of nowhere (you may say that he shouldn't have been that out of position) The Minny player raises his stick in celebration and then you can see the moment when he realizes Marty robbed him. He is completely deflated. Couldn't find it on youtube, but I have that game on DVD.

As someone who works outside,

As someone who works outside, I agree. wunderground is the site that i turn to when I am looking for a prediction of the weather. I turn to the weather channel when I am looking for radar.

MMBand will be there.  Also,

MMBand will be there.  Also, about 50 memebers of the "Spartan Brass."  Way to go all out, Sparty

The banner will be there,

The banner will be there, over the tunnel. Also, rumor has it that the drum major will do his back bend on the ice (sans ice skates)

Posted this in another thread

Posted this in another thread but thought it might go here as well.  Here is a similar jersey to the ones they were wearing on the ice.

Someone was asking where they could find one for sale.

They sell them at the end of

They sell them at the end of the season at the equipment garage sale. Sometime in mid-April.

Those are the normal pratice

Those are the normal pratice helmets.  I would expect the wings to still be on the game helmets.

Little Chill

Adrian College (Div III) will be playing Concordia (Wis) on Dec 4th at 9:30 AM.

http://www.adrianbulldogs.com/sports/m-hockey/2010-11/frozen_faceoff_2010_page

EDIT: Apparently, they are calling it the "Frozen Face-off", not the Little Chill

EDIT #2: Just noticed that they will be having a post-game tailgate at the Pioneer parking lot, featuring Randy's BBQ for only $3.  For those not in the know, Randy's started as a roadside BBQ joint with no seating, on US-12, near Michigan International Speedway.  It is the real deal and really good. I would swing by, just to get the pulled pork or brisket sandwich.

Big Ten Network

The Big Ten Network will be picking up the game in areas outside of the FSN Detroit footprint.

Crown on the field

Here is a picture from last years Wisconsin-Michigan outdoor game at Camp Randell. I believe they have field turf as well.  Check out picture 3/16 for a great visual as to how much crown is on the field there.  I am assuming that Michigan has pretty much the same set up.

Benches will be on the tunnel

Benches will be on the tunnel side (east), penalty boxes will be on the press box side (west)

Bands

The full MMB will be attending along with 50 of the "Spartan Brass"

Lights

I was able to get a little tour of the press box before the game yesterday and saw the lights (right next to the snipers) They will be mounted on rails so they can be flipped down out of sight when they are not needed. That being said, the actual lights are not there yet, just the frames they will be mounted on.

I have only had the corned

I have only had the corned beef hash, the bomber omelette or the nature lover's pancakes (pancakes filled with blueberries, raspberries and pecans) but the next time I am there, I may have to try french toast with Capt Crunch...........................

(I say ONLY because I used to live and work in Ypsi and would go to the Bomber about once a month for 8 years or so.............)

If you want to see some

If you want to see some insane prices....... check out Meigray.  It is where I got my Montreal jerseys.

12 or so Hensick Avalance jerseys, 7 Hunwick Bruins, 10 Comrie Islanders..... interesting stuff if you know who you are looking for.

Sorry for taking so long to

Sorry for taking so long to get back to you.  Work comes first............

The newest jersey I have is a white Ryznar.  I also have a maize Vancik, white Magnusson, blue O'Malley............. I have a couple more that i can't think of off the top of my head.

I haven't collected any recently, partly due to monetary reasons, partly due to being more officially involved with the team.  I can't wear jerseys to the games any more, so I can't justify spend $150 or more for a jersey that will sit in the closet.  I also have a LOT of practice jerseys.  I usually pick up one a year.

How many will it seat for

How many will it seat for hockey?

Frozen Four

was in Anahiem in 1999.  Paul Kariya was playing for the Ducks and Maine, which featured his little brother as the biggest offensive threat, made the field.  All we heard from the locals was "which one is Kariya's little brother?"

Had a great time, but not because of the hockey.

1995-96 jersey sets

In 1995-96, the regular season jerseys were made by Cliff Keen and used the dazzle-cloth that this jersey appears to have. Nike made a set (blue, white and maize) that used Air-kint material (little holes in the cloth). Michigan wore the maize jersey in every game during the playoffs. The players kept the maize jersey they wore in the Championship game. The rest of the playoff set was sold to a memarobilia dealer. The regular season set (white, blue and maize) were sold through the U-M hockey auction as desribed in the EBAY listing.

Long story made short, this appears to be a regular-season, game-worn jersey from 1995-96. It does not appear to be the jersey John Madden wore in the Championship game in Cinncinati.

As background, I owned a #4 white (Chris Frescoln) from the playoff set and still own the #29 maize (Greg Malicke.) I have been colecting U-M jerseys and hockey memorabilia since 1994. At one time, I have owned about a dozen different game-worn Michigan hockey jerseys and have 4 NHL game-worn jerseys of former Michigan players (2 Mike Komisarek (Montreal), 1 Cam Stewart (Boston), 1 Aaron Ward (Detroit)) as well as a Team Canada jersey worn by Jason Botterill in the gold-medal game of the World Junior Championship.

It could be done, just need

It could be done, just need the right people taking care of the field.

Trust me, I am a turfguy.

If I had more swine, I would

If I had more swine, I would have totally missed that one.

Correct me if I am wrong, but

Correct me if I am wrong, but don't the OHL teams draft kids, knowing that they have committed to play in the NCAA?  To say that they "lost" Montoya and Hensick because these kids made a commitment to Michigan and the Spitfires drafted them anyway, hopeing to lure them away from NCAA and into the OHL is ludicrous.  Windsor knows that these guys have said they are going to Michigan or some other college and then they will draft them and try to lure them away.  Isn't this what happened to Czarnik?  He wasn't getting the playing time at UM and Plymouth told him that Red didn't know what he had and that if he were playing for them, he would have plenty of PT and improve his chances of making the NHL.

Are you saying that if Czarnik had stayed at UM, that Plymouth would have "lost" Robbie to Michigan?

I remember

I remember the night I punched Russell Crowe in the head.  Dramatic recreation follows

Edit: I suck at embeding these things.

Exactly

When I saw it I thought of the  fish, not the guitar.

His name fits with this song better if it rhymes with ass.

Ice size I was listening to Red on WTKA and he said they were going with Olympic size ice? First I had heard of that.
I don't put a lot of stock in CSB They had Riley Sheahan falling 17 spots. After seeing him skate, despite the fact that he was on a team that wasn't doing much, I would take him at U of M. CSB looked at the stats and dropped him, it is not like he all of a sudden forgot how to skate and score. The team he was on held him back more than anything. In two years, Sheahan will be at the top of the league in scoring and in three years Merrill will be crushing people. Just wait for him to grow into his 6-3 body. Hopefully he will not just be crushing people in the Tristan Llewellen model.
I almost made it...... I read it all the way down to "Brackets" and then I gave up.
I am assuming that you are a I am assuming that you are a football season ticket holder. Hockey season ticket holders have until the end of March to order tickets (and also have the opportunity for the prime seats) I got my letter two weeks ago (as a hockey season ticket holder, but not football season ticket holder.)
While Mason was posting wins While Mason was posting wins in college coaching, Red was busy playing in the NHL, coaching in the NHL and winning an NHL Coach of the Year award. Then he came to Michigan.
