Sorry, but you're wrong on that one. Modern day strength programs aren't taking a week off of lifting or taking it easy because of a certain opponent. At this point in the year, they have a routine and they believe in it. S&C is all about getting the athletes' bodies to peak at the day of competition. They know when and how to lift during the week for their players' bodies to be recovered for Saturday
At the HS level (not apples to apples, I know) I have had assistants tell me they figured out the signs mid game. When the talent level was even or we were better, it helped a little. I could get in the call that put our kids in the best position. But the kids didn't know them and they still had to execute the calls. In games where we were clearly outmatched, the offense could have told our kids what they were about to run, and it didn't matter. Oftentimes, I took the suggestion into consideration, but still went with my callsheet based on gameplan
The times it paid off the most was to know if it was run or pass on 3rd downs. But again, kids still have to execute.
I also know there were opponents who had some of my defensive signals. Maybe sometimes it helped them. Sometimes it didn't matter.
Watching AF and drinking bourbon! A former player of mine is playing at AF. A group of us went out a couple of weeks ago and watched them beat Wyoming. Awesome experience!
Didn't mean it in an athletic comparison. I totally agree with you, one of the all time greatest athletes. I just don't care for the shameless self promotion, I don't care if it's "just who someone is"
I'm tired of prime theater. Clearly an all time great player, and I think he could be on his way to being considered a great coach. I just don't care for the self promotion. I find it odd that a fifty something year old has "coach prime" all over his Colorado gear. As a former coach (HS not college, but still), my goal was to give my kids the greatest experience possible, not make myself look good or stand out or be bigger than the players. So any coach (looking at you Lane Kiffin and Brian Kelly, you self serving tools) that loves the spotlight and attention and makes things about themselves offends me.
In Hoboken tonight, so will be going out for dinner with my wife sometime soon. We visited the World Trade Center Museum and Memorial today. I highly recommend it. It's a very powerful experience.

Are a couple really meh? Yep. Have I ever been mad about watching any of them? No. It's a series of stories about aliens and humans and jedi and lightsabers and the force. Some of it will be ridiculous. I just choose to be entertained by it and not overanalyze it

My issue is not that Crowell and Belleville are getting punished, but it's that the MHSAA doesn't enforce this consistently. Grand Rapids West Catholic was recruiting kids from different schools in GR this spring. A couple of kids posted announcements just like they were making their college commitment. Had fancy graphics with them in west catholic uniforms and everything. MHSAA is aware, but nothing came of it, except the tweets disappeared and only one of the kids ended up playing there.
It's an open secret that some of the private schools in this area recruit. Some of the public schools do too. Punish them all. I feel bad for the schools who work hard to do things the right way and build programs with the kids in their communities. It's not a level playing field at the moment
More teams are starting to livestream games as well. Theyre not allowed to do playoffs, but if your nephew still has a season or two left in his career, check out his future opponents YouTube channel. I've seen some pretty well done streams this year
I use an app called scorestream. Fans update it so it's not always the most reliable, but come this time of year its generally decent. Twitter also has scores depending on who you follow (if you use the bird app, of course)
I'm sipping on some bourbon this evening while watching the new version of "All Quiet on the Western Front" and keeping up on michigan HS playoff scores. Going to watch a game of a former player who is at a different school tomorrow, but am wishing I was going to have time to get in a treestand.
We are grilling brats with friends while the kids run around. Probably have a beer or 2 while manning the grill to keep my balance right and then will have some bourbon later on. I really like the bottle of Oak & Eden I bought last week.
