And yet no fans can attend…

And yet no fans can attend the Michigan-Iowa baseball series this weekend in an outdoor stadium in Texas.

Thanks for the response…

Thanks for the response. Posts like yours are why I lurk this board.

I love this. Congratulations…

I love this. Congratulations to your son.

I miss those days when we’d take my son and daughter out hunting for our youth hunt. Fortunately for me, my wife loves to hunt as well so I expect we’ll be spending a lot more weekends at our lease since we have more free time on Saturdays.

My son is a junior…

My son is a junior engineering student and from my perspective it’s a total shit show.

Where did you hear about students being quarantined in empty apartments? This bothers me a lot considering I had to fire off this semester’s OOS tuition payment a couple weeks ago.

Lafayette is a cool town. I…

Lafayette is a cool town. I live in Louisiana and know a lot of folks that went to ULL.  My daughter even considered it.  But LSU is my backup team. Geaux Tigers!

Edwards-Helaire is a beast.

Dareringer Rabbit Hole…

Like I’ve said to a lot of…

Like I’ve said to a lot of family and friends: our leaders have said “slow the spread”, not “stop the spread”. Also, the length of the line in that flattened curve is still the sum of all people, so people are going to continue to get it until there’s a vaccine. I think it’s also important to point out that contracting this virus is not a death sentence.

You just described exactly…

You just described exactly what happened to me New Years. We had just returned from a trip to Exuma the week before where we had been around folks from all over the world. When I went to bed New Years night, I couldn’t sleep and had fever and chills that were the closest I’ve ever come to a convulsion. I battled a 104 fever for 4 days and mentally fought off the thought of going to the hospital because I didn’t want to ruin my kid’s holiday break while they were home from college. My wife is a NP and tested me negative for the flu twice. She said something like, “We’ve seen a nasty negative-flu test virus going around a lot this season.” It took me about five days to get back to somewhat normal. I didn’t get out of bed except to use the bathroom or occasionally eat during that time.

By all means I am not certain I had Covid-19. Reading posts like OP’s and hearing interviews with people describing similar symptoms as mine makes me wonder though. I was hesitant to post this, but I have to admit, reading others’ posts like this helps me grasp what’s going on around me. I’m looking forward to the day the antibody test is available to determine whether or not that’s what I had at the beginning of the year.

Stay well everyone.

Congratulations!

My son was…

Congratulations!

My son was accepted to the college of engineering in the eleventh hour off of the wait list a couple Junes ago. We had about 1.5 to 2 years worth of OOS tuition set aside. We were elated he was accepted, yet worried about the financial implications. I’m self employed, so I’ve been working a couple side jobs to make as much money as I can to fill the gap.

You can’t put a dollar amount on the value of the experience of getting a degree in Ann Arbor, the network of the friends and acquaintances you make, or a diploma from one of the best universities in the country.

Finding ways to fill that “gap” has pushed me to work harder than I ever have in my life, and I’m fulfilled by it. Best wishes to your daughter and your family. Go Blue!

Will we call all the babies…

Will we call all the babies born in nine months “Coronials”?

TD Ameritrade’s ticket…

TD Ameritrade’s ticket office was damn near sold out as of 11:00 am. That’s not typical from what I been told.

Michigan fans have taken over Omaha.

Hoping Henry pitches another gem because this series is going to be tough. I’ve got faith in our boys and Coach Bakich though. Go Blue!

Everyone I’ve come across…

Everyone I’ve come across from other fan bases have jumped on the Michigan bandwagon. Nebraska and Iowa fans are rooting for Michigan because of the Big Ten. All the other SEC fans (outside of Vanderbilt) that are still milling around are rooting for the Wolverines because they know this run has been special and we’re all watching history being made.

I can’t wait to watch tomorrow night’s game. Going to be a classic. Go Blue!

Ha! This happened right in…

Ha! This happened right in front of us as we were coming down the stairs. I was wondering what Backich was saying to that kid.

We sent our son to Michigan…

We sent our son to Michigan’s baseball camp four years ago after his freshman year of high school. He traveled alone and managed to navigate a layover at ATL on his own as a 15 yo! He had a great week and pitched the final inning of the inter-squad scrimmage. BB, K, K, and pop fly to save the win. I got the play-by-play via text from his grandpa.

Michigan had won the B1G tournament that year and went to a regional.  We’ve been hooked ever since. He just finished his freshman year in Ann Arbor, and I wish he had tried to walk-on, but spending the past couple weekends watching the games with him back home is just fine by me!

Or that the outfielders are…

Or that the outfielders are playing no-doubles too close to the warning track.

35 years in the making! See you in Omaha!

Bang me!  At least the board…

Bang me!  At least the board recognizes the significance of these wins!  Hopefully our favorite blog does soon too!

Congratulations to all the…

Congratulations to all the new graduates!  My son just got home from a two-day trek Wednesday after finishing his freshman year.  I’m looking forward to having him around for a little while.

You got me.  That's exactly…

You got me.  That's exactly WHY I bandwagon.

Awesome!  Like I needed another reason to root for the Patriots!

I'm pretty sure it's a camera.  Sports Video Innovations, the company that patented this technology, sent a couple helmets to Michigan a few years ago.  Shea Patterson happened to also go to high school his junior year in the same city as SVI.

Here's a link to a video from them:

Freshman Year

Jeter lived at the end of my hall freshman year.  I met him that first week before classes started and commented on the huge Yankees pendant hanging from his gold chain.  I said, "You a Yankees fan?"  His roommate piped in, "Dude, he plays for the Yankees!"  I said, "Yeah, okay..."  Later in the year, I remember everyone was like "what  happened to that Derek guy at the end of the hall?" because we never saw him (he had been called up and left Michigan).

In 2000, I was at a friend's house the night the Yankees had won the world series and saw the highlights and an interview with him.  I said, "Oh my gosh, that dude lived on my hall freshman year!"  My friend responded, "That's Derek Jeter, the best player in baseball."

I felt like such an idiot.

Rich Rod

I live in Shreveport and my friend covering the Independence Bowl was with Rich Rod Saturday night.  He was rooting for Kansas St.  Surprised?
