They do mean Munford. It was not against Petit-Frere. He moved to RT and Munford moved outside after Jones was turnstiled repeatedly and injured.

You should thank Jay Harbaugh MUCH more than Hart in this case

Pretty sure Cade was laughing because he half tried to run over a tackler rather than sliding and got blown up.

On the OZ with bubble action…

On the OZ with bubble action play discussed starting at 14:45. Curious if we think that's an actual read or not.  Devin thinks it is.  Sam doesn't.  I agree with Sam.

Gattis consistently uses the backside action as window dressing.  Not sure why but that has been the case since he arrived. There certainly isn't much of a mesh point.  Could the reads be turned on later against stiffer competition?  Maybe, sort of like how they allow the QB to run in the 2nd half when in danger of getting embarrassed by Northwestern and numerous other examples.  But then again there is a ton of evidence from the last several seasons suggesting that again, it's just window dressing.

Thoughts?

How about PKIG Fieldhouse?

Wearing masks on the…

Wearing masks on the sideline is for the TV cameras or just abject stupidity considering most of the people (players) on the sideline don't have to wear masks.

That said, Harbaugh is usually good at doing things for show and not so good at doing things like winning football games so it's surprising that they're so bad at wearing masks.

As for Partridge and the punt block...we have run into/roughed the kicker multiple times for no reason since Harbaugh has been around.  Blaming it on Partridge leaving is STRETCH.

I would look at this a bit…

I would look at this a bit differently but agree these types of decisions are based mostly on fear rather than facts.

Why?

I think the safety calculation is much different for a football player versus most other sports.  Football players may be experiencing brain damage every single time they play or practice.  You can lose your ability to walk or even die on the field on any given play.  Football is FAR more acutely dangerous to football players than this virus as a result of playing football.  Michigan players are forced to medically retire EVERY year.

Do you think the Illinois RB and OL are going to shelter in place isolated from all others and never leave home until the virus subsides?  That seems far fetched at best.  Even if they live with their immune compromised family member or elderly grandparent you can bet that they will be going out and doing whatever their Governor allows them to do.  They are AT RISK.

Sitting out the football season (if there is one - looking highly unlikely at this point) probably won't reduce their risk at all.  Fortunately, if they get the virus they are highly likely to be fine or not even know they have it.  Yes, there will be statistical outliers.  We've heard all about it.  They're more than welcome to make whatever decision they want but if they're so risk averse they should probably quit football altogether.

Lawsuit frequency is nearly certain to increase. As such, we strongly recommend reviewing your liability coverage.

Thanks for the shout out…

Thanks for the shout out Kilgore.  This is Owen from PKIG | Phil Klein Insurance and I strongly endorse the options you chose.

Your overall take is on the money.

Beyond that, I would recommend calling an insurance professional for advice on your specific situation. Of course we'd be ecstatic if you called us at PKIG but just make sure you are properly advised.

It's actually incredible how bad Michigan has been in the screen game.  And this comes after an era when the throwback screen inexplicably worked pretty much every time.

That sounds like a totally made up story.  We'll see what else comes out.

There is nothing to suggest that McCaffrey's arm talent is above Shea's.  It's actually the other way around.

(No subject)

Recruiting rankings are…

Recruiting rankings are partially determined by size of class which is dubious for a number of reasons.  OSU has a higher average rating of recruit than M basically every year and it shows.

Look at the composite rankings and all time recruits for both schools on 247.  It's eye-opening.

M missed their chance to make a dent in 2016 and now they have to find a way to do it again with less talent and a huge mental block.

This is not true.  Okudah did not follow Collins around the field.  He covered Nico half the time or less.  Michigan didn't take shots down the field.

We clearly think running the QB is something to be done out of desperation or we have thrown rock so many times the D can't even think of paper.

This is beyond stupid and bizarre.  Two years in a row! Woof.

"finally utilized Shea in the running game"???

More like clearly instructed him to only handoff until our ineptitude caused the game to be in doubt. This is Borges stuff all the way where you do things that work grudgingly and poorly.

So you're of the opinion that coaches never make mistakes about personnel and who starts?  Anyone want Jordan Anthony to play ahead of Cam McGrone the rest of the way?

Michigan hasn't thrown for 300 yards (let alone 400) since Speight against Maryland in 2016.

There is zero reason to think that is the case.  Frey is very good at finding and developing offensive lineman.

What are your other hobbies, brain surgery?

Rich Rod Analogue

This may or may not be true but Rich Rod had a Top-10 offense in FEI and S&P+ this year.  He's still really good at tweaking his offense.  Chip Kelly is likely to be very good on O at UCLA.  Very good.

I remember when the season

I remember when the season ended after losing to OSU in hoops last year too.  We aren't a great team but that's what happens when you lose 3 of your top 4 guys.  There's enough talent to get to the dance and win a game or two.  Next year's class will be special.

He's not at 100% - staff

He's not at 100% - staff thought a fully healthy Ruiz was a better option.

Do you really want to compare

Do you really want to compare JT Barrett as a RS junior to our QB situation after Speight went down?

Such as?

Such as?

They are 1-1 against each

They are 1-1 against each other

With most teams having 3

With most teams having 3 games left there aren't any locks.

Probably as much as it helped

Probably as much as it helped them get curb stomped the year prior

Highly unlikely.

Highly unlikely.

You're correct about freshman

You're correct about freshman but great QB's are often ready to go as RS Freshman.  And by ready to go I mean capable of winning national titles.

Jameis Winston, Marcus Mariota, and Johnny Manziel were all great as RS Fr.  And there are plenty of others.

I would gladly trade Taylor

I would gladly trade Taylor Lewan and Michael Schofield for Mason Cole and JBB/Ulizio right about now.

Harbaugh is a good coach.  I think he will succeed here.  But if there were 2 areas that you would have expected he could fix it would be QB and OLine.  As of now they're the 2 worst units on the team.  That is a major problem and there are huge red flags as to whether they will be fixed even next year.

We have to replace Cole and have zero obvious solutions.  We still have no right tackle and MIGHT have solutions if there's development.

For the rest of this season, I would strongly endorse trying Bredeson at RT and moving Runyan to LG.  Ulizio/JBB are unplayable as it stands and if Bredeson can play RT it would greatly help for 2018.

Hoke and Borges used to talk

Hoke and Borges used to talk about 10 man football all the time.  Unfortunately 10 man football is just a synonym for being bad at football.

Brian predicted a loss.  Are

Brian predicted a loss.  Are you upset he didn't predict a worse loss?  Confused.

Drevno has very little pro

Drevno has very little pro experience - almost all collegiate - but OK

They were 3-9 last year.  Do

They were 3-9 last year.  Do you want to wager that will not happen no matter how long Harbaugh is the coach at Michigan?

They were not only asked to

They were not only asked to gap block.  At all.

Here's the Transcontinental

You may want to re-think

You may want to re-think this.  If Speight cannot play next year (he isn't being nudged anywhere) our QB situation will be a disaster in terms of depth.

If Peters truly is as far behind as UMBig11 and Balas suggest we have to search for a grad transfer QB again. - NOW.   Unless you want the depth chart to read McCaffrey (who could be in the same spot as Peters next year), Peters (who supposedly is significantly worse than John O'Korn), and true freshman that are both considered projects.  That is a recipe for disaster.

Best case scenario is for McCaffrey or Peters to elevate and pass a healed Speight but those things are all very unsure at this point.

The coaching staff knows Speight's medical prognosis and needs to plan accordingly otherwise we could have another season subverted by the one position that Harbaugh was supposed to be able to give us an automatic edge at.

Yeah, like Michigan's base

Yeah, like Michigan's base 3/3/5 and 4/2/5!
