Nebraska’s entry was an odd one too…

I am partial to Gettysburg because I live near there, and I even have a photo with Jim Harbaugh from when the team toured the battlefield last spring, but the monuments can be distracting and Little Round Top is undergoing a lengthy renovation. Wide open battlefields inspire more imagination - Antietam does that and nearby Harpers Ferry makes for a nice historical twofer.

On the Herbert reference, I’m not sure why we think NFL teams don’t value somebody like him. The Lions have five on staff covering sports performance, sports science, and strength and conditioning (3 in that area). The Chiefs have the same sort of structure. I stopped looking after that, but hopefully that proves the point.

Fun fact: I live in south central PA and was told when I moved here that the farm land adjacent to our neighborhood is owned by Ritchie.

I taped a lot of games from the 90’s forward on VHS and the replay quality is terrible. Like “is it snowing on the field?” bad.

Besides suspension and disassociation from NIL collective, these additional penalties seem specific yet arbitrary.  And on the last one, where is that 1% of the athletic budget going?  Ugly.

Other penalties, which were confirmed by the NCAA Thursday, include:

- scholarship reductions of 5% over the next two academic years.

- a reduction by seven in official recruiting visits for 2023-24.

- a prohibition on recruiting communication for six weeks over the next two academic years, including this next week (Jan. 12-18).

- a prohibition on communication with athletes in the transfer portal from April 15-21.

- a reduction by 18 evaluation days this spring.

- a financial penalty of 1% of the athletic department’s budget."

After last week, and anticipating an easier drive, a massive Michigan fan base signature in a stadium that is half the size as Penn State’s, and decent weather, the only thing left is to watch the players pursue win number 1,000 with an enthusiasm unknown to mankind. It is hard to understand irrational hatred. on the other hand, I was at the game yesterday and the Penn State people I met seemed to embrace Michigan as a friendly rival but absolutely hated Ohio State. It was fun talking to them.

This season has a few more games to go. We did not show everything. I’m OK with that.

100+ decibels is a force to be reckoned with at peak performance moments. I have been going to Michigan games in Happy Valley for a long time and have seen several false starts in close games while the crowd is still engaged. The team looked pretty darn disciplined out there yesterday.

This is the take of about 15 Penn State fans sitting around me at the game today.

I saw it live and on replay in the stadium - he fell forward and helmet face down. He bounced up but it was a hard impact.

This implies that a Buckeye would be willing to read 10 pages.  

I was at that game. Not often 100K+ get to witness a murder.

I must not get out much. For a nationally known writer, I had never heard of him. And now I know why.

Words are important.  “Report says” usually means some organization has issued an official sponsored, document. “Reporters say” is much more accurate here, and refers to whatever crap spews from reporters mouths.
