I wonder if this Tom Brady…

I wonder if this Tom Brady was named after the GOAT.  Fast Tom graduated undergrad in '23 which means he was probably born ~2001/2002 which is right around when OG Tom won his first Super Bowl.

I doubt billionaires want or…

I doubt billionaires want or are equipped to deal with the minutiae of an AD's operations.

That being said, I don't know how the logistics work at all but I have wondered why we (or other schools with more enthusiastic donors) haven't set up an endowment as a sustainable source of NIL funds.  Maybe too blatantly p4p?

If somebody or somebodies gave $1b (oh is that all?), 4% interest annually is $40m which seems like a healthy amount to sustain a roster.  You could slap the donors' names on the fund and make sure everybody knows that they're the reason behind the pristine roster.  The donor(s) would be legends, and NIL would be funded theoretically in perpetuity.

But the enemy of my enemy is my friend.

I'm just a bit confused as…

I'm just a bit confused as to what Ono is waiting for.  At the beginning of the season when he had to step around Warde to get a commitment from Harbaugh and then seemingly threw shade at Warde on Twitter saying something like he (Ono) had informed Warde of the news, it seemed like Warde was on thin ice.  The sentiment was Ono had to do Warde's job for him and therefore time was ticking.

And now we haven't heard a thing.  What's changed?  Are regents exerting influence?

A truly moving article that…

A truly moving article that I wouldn't have imagined a Regent could pen.  If the Board of Regents were filled with Ackers (a composition which each of us can and must influence!!!), the football program and AD in general could have an even higher ceiling.

So if I understand the…

So if I understand the structure correctly, this premise could set up The Game followed by a rematch in the championship game?

I don't remember FFFF being…

I don't remember FFFF being so useful and accurate as the last couple of seasons since Alex took over (no offense intended to writers of seasons past but I'm sure plenty given).

The good thing is pundits get paid for eyeballs and clicks.  Vegas gets paid for being right.

The FFFF's are amazing (have been as good as they've ever been this season) but it's also useful to layer Brian's and Seth's opinions on top of Alex's.  Speaking of which, we haven't heard from our fearless leader in a while.  Please tell me he hasn't been hired by Saban for bowl prep...

Michigan cares.  And that's the problem.

The same Urban Meyer who…

The same Urban Meyer who went 2-11 with the Jaguars, was fired mid-season, and became the laughingstock of the NFL? That Urban Meyer? Yeah he doesn’t know anything.

Anybody notice he started…

Anybody notice he started Michigan's defensive keys with something we already do well (stopping the run on 1st) but he starts OSU's defensive keys talking about all the busts from last year?  Bad sign.  I highly enjoyed those replays, 10/10.

That's why I think a major…

That's why I think a major tool should be to galvanize other fanbases who would have skin in this (e.g., PSU, Georgia).  We'd instantly multiply the number of passionate eyeballs on this, and we'd gain allies that have more media sway, especially SEC teams.  The enemy of my enemy is my friend.

Not sure how to rally those fans though, especially around what may be perceived as circumstantial data from a biased and disliked fanbase (us).

Very interesting.  So their…

Very interesting.  So their good DTs are already undersized, and they don't trust any backups to play.  How exactly would they deal with our 7 OL and 2 TE formation?  I'm betting we find out early and often.

Like the ones Cryin Ryan Day…

Like the ones Cryin Ryan Day gets when it's that time of the month?

Agreed with the general…

Agreed with the general sentiment but a deal for what? “Ok you caught us rolling through a stop sign so we will settle for you chopping our balls off. But joke’s on you - we only have one ball left after already offering one up to satisfy OSU’s lap dog Petitti.”

Yay I bet the regents can’t…

Yay I bet the regents can’t wait to earn another gold star for Michigan’s sticker chart.

This whole debacle over nothing was never going to be an issue unless we made it an issue and boy did we ever.

Through all of this, the…

Through all of this, the only thing that really matters is extending Harbaugh, which seems less and less likely by the day.

We've spent decades getting…

We've spent decades getting to a place where we can compete for national titles, and Ohio State can't beat us on the field but is pathetic enough to hire an investigator to poke around and all they could find was a tiny loose thread in an otherwise very clean program, and Michigan proceeds to yank on that thread until we completely unravel while the other major programs are all sitting there laughing while doing 100x worse?  Yeah sounds about right.

This might not be a popular…

This might not be a popular opinion but it would be nice if Michigan didn't always have to sit so straight on their high horse and had any sort of leeway on these matters.  We're trying to compete with programs that are significantly more, let's say "laissez-faire" across the board but if we go anywhere near a rule that others have trampled over, straight to seppuku.

The only thing I'm…

The only thing I'm disappointed about is we were stupid enough to get caught and maybe (probably?) some coaches lied to the NCAA.

Anything else about Michigan being actual cheaters?  Nah this all stems from in-person sign stealing which is NOTHING but a pedantic rule.

It's not an opinion.  It's…

Are you saying those two…

Are you saying those two sentences should be taken in reflection as to what I wrote and people who share the same anger, or am I misinterpreting?

Edit:  Let me say this in case you're not checking to respond.

I understand the grand perspective that stepping back, it's a little ridiculous that people are this angry about a sport and are screaming into the ether as one of a million fans of one team in the ocean of a hundred teams.  But that mentality is, imo, a parallel to someone who thinks they shouldn't get involved in politics or vote because their voice won't be heard anyway, and they can't affect change.  They are a passenger on the waves of life so just sit back and enjoy the show.

I, and many of us it seems, disagree.  This is an important forum to share ideas, vent frustration (maybe a little bit too much), and, ideally, to affect change as Brian did in the Dave Brandon situation.  Regents are ELECTED.  If we disagree with their actions, we can do something about it.  Football is ultimately a game and I do feel a little silly comparing it to "war" but many of us live and die for it, especially for Michigan football, right or wrong.  Anger should be expressed when present and maybe even be turned into something productive.

I think the next time we see…

I think the next time we see Harbaugh speak will be very telling as to his stance on this whole matter, whether he feels he was stabbed in the back or that we/he did the right thing in this situation.  Yeah I'm mad that Michigan again cowered in the face of adversity but by far the most important thing is how this affects our future with Coach going forward.

Fuck that shit.  Did you not…

Fuck that shit.  Did you not hear what Craig Ross said?  The regents went behind everybody's back and brokered that piece of shit deal.  Everybody else at Michigan was aligned for the first time from the President to the AD to the legal counsel, and the regents went behind ALL of their backs.  What message does this send?

  1. We will still roll over, no matter how much we puff out our chest in public, when push comes to shove.  Hiring investigators then rallying the rest of the conference against us will yield great results!  Due process won't stand in your way!  If you can't beat Michigan on the field in the future, this is a great avenue to take!
  2. Hi Jim - we said we were all behind you but just kidding, we're going to do something even worse than capitulate; we're going to do it unilaterally against everyone else's will!  Hey I know you said feeling wanted and supported was your #1 criteria for staying but do you still want to come back anyway?

Yeah blah blah blah we don't have all the info but if the counsel is strongly opposed, that's all I need to know about their perception of our legal case.  Fuck the regents.  You know what happens when you give into a toddler's tantrums?  They'll throw a bigger tantrum next time.

We should start an “SEC! SEC…

We should start an “SEC! SEC!” chant at the game

You know what'd be hilarious…

You know what'd be hilarious?  If Michigan didn't lie down and take it in the butt every time somebody waiving a badge came around to check if we changed our oil every 3000 miles, if we kept the tags on the pillow, if we capitalized our proper nouns, if we said please and thank you.  That would have me rolling.

So you're saying he's the…

So you're saying he's the Petitti of Twitter

Let’s not forget the root of…

Let’s not forget the root of all of this is a smear campaign commissioned by Ohio State. Even Petitti might be viewed as basically just a simpleton that the mob, headed by OSU, is able to manipulate.  The more you think about it, the more disgusting and pathetic it is. That’s why we have to unload everything we have on them whilst digging for new material of which I’m sure there’s plenty.

Two questions:

Two questions:

  1. Are we sure revealing OSU pays for visits won't serve as an ad attract more recruits?
  2. Has anyone on our side engaged with an outside investigative firm?  I don't think it's Michigan's style but at the same time, we have all this dirt on OSU without doing any digging as they did with us.  There's probably a ton of low-hanging fruit just waiting to be picked.
Petitti:  "Omg the AP just…

Petitti:  "Omg the AP just published info that implicates most of the league for the same exact thing we're trying to railroad Michigan on if not worse.  You didn't hit send on that Notice of Disciplinary Action yet did you?"

Secretary: "Uhhhh....."

Maybe a stupid question -…

Maybe a stupid question - what happens if the B1G hands down a suspension and Michigan refuses to acknowledge it, i.e., lets Harbaugh keep coaching?  Would they force us to forfeit the remaining B1G games?

Because the B1G forgoing the money from The Game would be quite the story and be objectively hilarious as a Michigan fan.

Fuck that guy. Even if his excuse is “it’s my first day” or “I’m just a shill for the ADs”, you still have to be really fucking dumb/spineless/worthless to let this all go down without any call for reason. The only plausible explanation is he’s a plant by ESPN or rival conference or an insect in human skin of some sort.

It’s crazy that this is actually becoming Braveheart - a small force led by a righteous leader fighting against an overwhelming evil. FREEDOOOOOOMMMMM

I'm at the fuck everybody…

I'm at the fuck everybody phase (not unlike Day's mom heyo).  It's one thing for all the whiny B1G coaches and ADs to complain about Michigan but now the commish is siding with them instead of due process?  What kind of lynch-mob, authoritarian shit is this?  Stonewall all of them, lawyer up, extend Harbaugh, and win out with two fingers up.

The hope is the word on this spreads fast enough to take over the news cycle for the pregame shows tomorrow.

The Day family puts the PI in PussIes

FINALLY.  Get fucked OSU.

FINALLY.  Get fucked OSU.

No no, people are forgetting…

No no, people are forgetting the most important part - somebody hired a PI firm to "uncover" the vast, grand cheating scheme which is behind all of Michigan's success, even though the legality of the whole thing is still questionable and the efficacy is dubious based on the NCAA itself.  This is the best the PI could find, which is better than probably 95% of programs out there.

If there's any bend to media- or competitor-generated outrage that yields penalties before due process, the whole thing needs to burn to the ground, starting with lawsuits and sending PIs everywhere, including at the media.
